Katy drops to 3rd in rankings

The latest Max Preps objective computer rankings have Katy ranked 3rd in the state of Texas - third that is if the Tigers were playing in 2A since both Omaha Pewitt 2A district 18 and Celina 2A district 13 are ranked above Katy. They also trail 3A Gainsville in the rankings. Fortunately for the Tigers the rankings don't include 6 man teams, Jr. Highs or elementary school programs else they might disappear from the top 25 in the state altogether.


Smithson Valley is ranked 4th in Texas and 10th Nationally,

At 18th in the state Katy is ranked one position ahead of San Antonio Madison (19th) who the Rangers blew out 50-20 last week.

However before Katy fans can start protesting - no one can question the accuracy of the machine since the Houston Texans are not in the top 200. When I contacted the Max Preps site they explained that the rankings only include organized teams, and that the Texans clearly didn't qualify on those grounds.

katy is ranked so lowly because of their strength of schedule. they dont have to play any worthy teams until sv in the state semifinals and almost lost to 9-5 cy falls last week. katy has one of the easiest roads to state in both divisions. not saying katy is a bad football team, no team can go 13-0 and not be a great team, just saying they havent had the tough competition back to back every week like alot of other teams

I'm trying to look at this objectively, but how in the heck does this poll not have A&M Consol on it at all? What else do these kids need to do? Get to the final four and no love at all... well at least there's lots of love here in good old Aggieland. At least College Station had one winning team this year. :cool:

again i wasnt saying katys not a good football team... theyr amazing, they made it to the state championship, they have just had a much easier road.

and if you wanna bring up the 94 season, after katys semifinal against judson, PLANO whooped katy 28-7 in the state championship:D

Katy dont need no stinking rankings! They dont play a tough schedule and get to rest up for the really tough ones. Heck, they played Woodlands, Humble, Elsik, Cy Creek, Cy Falls, Beaumont Westbrook, SV etc just average teams. They dont stand a chance against the top school in the whole country in their home stadium. I bet Katy is a 28 point dog in this one. I will take all the 28 point sugar I can get. Katy been sandbagging all year just for this game. Picked our weak schedule and laid out the strategy for the "revenge game" at the end. Secret weapons hidden for the whole season. Whole JV squad gets to start the SLC game just to mix em up. First kick-off return is the highly respected Cal kick return play. Every play after that for the first quarter is reverses, deep passes and end-arounds. This to lull the states top Defense into a false sense of security. Katy asks for an 11 point spot at the beginning and then sees that the officials are the same ones from the Falls and SV game and immediately forfeits the game. Congrats SLC on another ring.
