Larry Coker, who once led the Miami Hurricanes to a BCS championship (and was one garbage pass-interference call way from leading them to another), is hoping to get another shot at running a college football program.

The University of Texas - San Antonio recently approved the addition of a football program, with hopes to play their home games in the Alamodome starting in 2011. The UTSA Roadrunners will start as a Division I FCS program before looking to transition into becoming a Division I BCS team. (Basically, they want to start as a 1-AA team before playing with the big boys.)

Coker, who is now 60 years old, expressed interest in the job a little over a month ago. San Antonio is the largest city in the United States without a NFL or Division I football team.

They might as well hire him, they aren't gonna get anyone bigger.

If you're Cocker, I dont get it...If you're UTSA, I get it. I mean why not..You're not going to find many title winning coaches that will come in and coach a start up team that has to compete for players in the Texas market...If UTSA gets him they will gain immediate attention from future recruits...Good move by them if they hire him.

For a startup program, you are not going to find anybody with that kind of experience.
