I think i speak for most (if not all) of us when i say I'm really going to miss this kid. Our loss is Nebraska's gain. I'm no Husker fan but I'll be pullin for Rex to do well up there, He has been a joy to watch:notworthy

i know it is nit-picking, but as an ex-wildcat, i have to wonder why prep ticket feels the need to throw in extraneous factoids(especially when they are incorrect) about the number of 5a titles? you'd think they might have a clue.

Burkhead is the best all-around football player I've seen at the HS level.

You cannot say enough great things about Burkhead as a person and as an athlete. He will definately be missed by the Plano nation.

The kid is definitiely a throwback. He's a football player....never know where you want to put him on the field, you just know you always want him out there. A guy like this...you wish you had 11 of em.

He will be missed by all. Including me. He simply ranks as the best all around player I have ever seen too. :notworthy

i heard the insiders at plano raving about him and predicting greatness as an 8th grader. i was told he would play as a freshman. fact is, they underestimated him.

i wish great things for him at husker high. when/if he gets homesick, please God, don't let him fall for the huckster on the hill that is june jones, and smu.

I agree completely..He will certainly be missed by all who even remotely enjoy and follow the beautiful game that is Texas high school football. Weve all been blessed to have seen this talented young man perform at the highest of levels against some of the best defenses this state has to offer, even in the face of those defenses being geared to stop him. He is without question the best player I have ever had the good fortune of watching play.

I have joined the Huskers Forums and there is already a lot of buzz about Rex. I must say it will be a little tougher to get excited for Plano football this up and coming year, but I'm sure after a game or two I will be amazed at Robinsons speed and a new stand out whoever that may be. However, I will be a Huskers fan for at least the next four years. It was a pleasure watching Rex on and off the field.:notworthy

What Rex did in the final few minutes of the 08 Wylie vs Plano game was nothing but pure talent and this kid has lots of it. He is an outstanding young man and a fantastic football player and I wish him the best in the Land of the Children of the Corn.

Watched in amazement for four years. To say we will miss him is hardly enough said.

I hope he shines at Nebraska as well. It at least gives me a reason to watch the Huskers.

1AB = After Burkhead.

I agree, my excitment is not nearly what is was this time last year. Burkhead was a special player and IMO the best ever to come out of Plano.

With that said I hope his success mirrors Pat Thomas & Billy Ray Smith or more importantly someone like Chris Howard who has 5 times the resume as our Current President and is 7 years younger and is actually making a difference for the right reasons and not for political ones.

Sadly, because of scheduling, I never got to see him play.

Over the past two years Ive seen some of his games, read about his accolades, and heard about him dunking a basketball as a 5-8 freshman. But what I will remember the most is what I read about his friend and his character off the field. Speaks volumes about him and his family. If I remember correctly his dad is in law enforcement and his mom is in education. Two of the most unappreciated professions people can choose to do. Good luck and you will be missed in 8-5A.:notworthy

Never saw the kid play and always thought of him as a nice prep player, maybe a bit mythologized by the locals.

But when an admin such as this site's types such words, it caught my attention. High praise indeed.

Watched some highlights: Wow, I wished I had made a pilgrimage to the MetroMess to see him. Good luck, kid.

I only saw him play once last year in Dallas during the playoffs vs Trinity. He looked like a special player. Can one of you Plano guys attach some hi-lite films of him for the 2008 season?

The BURK is one of those guys that come along once, MAYBE twice,
in a life time. Whenever I was at a Plano game I couldn't EVEN take
my eye off of where he was at ALL times. Crap, even in warm-ups I
found myself looking around to see where he was and what he was doing.

He seemed to be out there on every play. He could be used anywhere. If
the DC said, "Rex, we're having trouble on the D-Line. Go in at DT!". He would have responded, "Which side coach?".

I LOVE watching the "blue-collar" type guys that aren't thumping their chests
all the time. He IS "old-school"! There's no better compliment.

The Maroon and White ain't goin' to be the same next year.

I see Matt Brown has Nebraska on his list. Would that be a quick backfield?

I might even pay attention to the frozen northland!

Best of luck Burkster!:notworthy:notworthy

You are welcome sir. Somedays I just sit and watch footie of high school players and I'm always drawn to Rex..I can watch him over and over...He is one special talent. I'm blessed to live so close to Plano and have been afforded the opportunity to see him play several times over the last 4 years.

can't say it much better than that. I love the work ethic as well, no need to do the chest thumping if you do it with your actions.
