View Full Version : Special 2A Thread: Argyle Eagles
For all the grief I have taken this Fall about my location, I just thought you'd all like to know that the Argyle Eagles are playing tonight for the 2A Div. 1 state championship v. Newton.
Newton is a heavy favorite, and even I expect Argyle to lose, but its amazing what this team has accomplished in only the school's 4th year of football. Our boys play in the same district as probable Div. 2 state champ Celina (who whipped us 50-0 back in the middle of the season), and are trying their darndest to make this basketball town love its football as well.
Good luck Eagles.
P.S. For those left without a ticket to the 4A game (HP v. Marshall), you may want to try getting a ticket for tonight's game and hiding in the stadium all night to get your seat for tomorrow's game at Rose Stadium.

Great season by the Eagles, that private school right down the road from Argyle had a pretty impressive year to :) Hopefuilly they have a little more luck than the Warriors in their state title game. Would be nice to see a metroplex team bring home a title.

While we're at it:
1) 3A Wimberley, going for its first state crown vs Gainsville tomorrow in Waco.
2) 2A Blanco: 2000 finalist and 2001 2A Div I champion going up against powerhouse Omaha Paul Pewitt in Ennis Saturday afternoon.
FYI.. both of these schools are within 20 miles of Smithson Valley.

From what I have heard Wimberly is the real deal. One of my former coaches in HS and a mentor of mine is the OC at Gainesville. I hope they can bring home a state title but from what I have heard it is going to a tough task.

After watching what they did to West Orange Stark, Wimberley really seems to be a cut above. It would have been great to see Wimberley and Cuero face off.

Talking about 2A i'm going to the Celina vs. Childress game here tomorrow after i watch Judson get the snot beat out of them. Celina is a heavy favorite but i've seen Childress play, they are 4REAL! Celina will have a tough time trying to stop Sawyer Vest (QB).

Celina does not have a good past playing in WF, there were a few years when Quannah upset them in that city.
I saw them last week against Crawford and they exposed a 13-0 team like it was nothing. I am just pissed that Celina and Newton wont get a shot to play this year. That would have been a awesome game.

I wouldve traveled wherever to see that one. man that would have been a shootout. yeah Celina is the home team. Home teams have not done well at memorial stadium this year, believe i went to almost every game there. its always a close one besides that debacle that Rider had against Old High.
