View Full Version : What are your bad habits?

I have two that are probably taking years off my life... sleeping and eating.
I don't eat unhealthy food or a ton of food. In an average day, I would guess I eat less than a normal person. Problem is that I usually only eat one meal a day. I haven't eaten breakfast since high school. I'm NEVER hungry when I wake up. In fact, I don't usually get hungry until a good 8 hours after I wake, but the problem is that my hunger comes on at one once and I tend to eat a really big meal. My metabolism is crap.
My sleeping habits are even worse. I never go to sleep at a "normal" hour. It's not uncommon for me to go to sleep until 10:00 am or later. It's also not uncommon for me to stay up 24-36 straight hours and then a lot of times I will only sleep for 3-5 hours at a time. Take last night/today. I went to sleep around midnight last night after having been up for about 20 hours. I slept until about 3:00 am and have been up since. I may not go back to sleep until noon tomorrow. One of the big disadvantages to working from home and keeping your own hours.

My smoking is excessive.
I dont really eat right. But all my blood work came back really good, so I dont that it matters with that being the case.
I dont get enough b12 though. So I take a vitamin for that.
I tend to be extra harsh to myself.
I procrastinate.
And really, given the "Pinion's therapy" threads every week, you all know the rest of my issues.. lol.

That's a terribad habit. When I see people with their fingers in their mouth, it turns my stomach. Gawd. Work on that dood. It's pretty gross when you figure all the places your hands touch throughout the day. *ICK*
In fact, I'm a little ill just thinking about it.

I'm not perfect - but I gotta tell you my man that eating three times a day whethere I feel like it or not, going to bed at a decent hour and getting out of bed in the a.m. are probably the best things I do for myself. Unless I'm sick - I'm out of bed by 7:30 at the absolutel worst - most days it's 6 am. That regimen will do wonders in itself.

That sounds like good healthy living. I wish I could be disciplined enough to do that. I work shiftwork, and its impossible to be regimented with my sleep and eating habits.

It's funny because when I make an effort to go to sleep at night and sleep for a good 8 hours and then eat normal meals, I always feel great, but for some reason it's very hard for me to do that. I used to have a 7-4 office job. I would get up at 6 and usually eat a protein bar or something and I ate normal meals and I was happy and healthy. Now, I'm in terrible shape, always stressed (which is probably why I don't eat or sleep right) and miserable about half the time.

actually, I think I remember reading somewhere that that is not true. More identity theft comes from "eyes on" the actual card/id/etc. Let me check.
Oh, here:
http://www.bbbonline.org/IDtheft/safetyQuiz.asp
From the site listed above:
5. Most data compromise - 90 percent - takes place through traditional offline channels and not via the Internet, when the victim can identify the source of data compromise.*
7. Almost half (47 percent) of all identity theft is perpetrated by friends, neighbors, in-home employees, family members or relatives - someone known - when the victim can identify the perpetrator of data compromise.**

You do realize that statistics take time to correlate and publish? This is the website of the Better Business Bureau. They would, I am sure, have figures more to your liking if you agreed with them. Google: identity theft source.
Pick another site. Same result.

Put me in that category. I had a family member steal my identity. It took me a year and a half to clear up. Ugh

cleaning/ straightening obsessively, to the point that it concerns other people that know me. i'm not OCD like Monk, but everything has its place, and by-Gosh it belongs there.
being sarcastic/ cynical about EVERYTHING. My Mother -in-law hated me ofr the first five years she knew me because she thought I was so negative about everything. Some of my bosses and co-workers have never understood me and this actually causes fear sometimes. I usually make my comments and already have a plan for correcting the situation. Bosses like solutions. co-workers wonder why they didn't think of them...:D

Ha! I do the same thing. I just spent 5 minutes re-folding and re-stacking towels in the bathroom and straightening the shower curtain.

Smoking. It's okay, though. I quit every night. plus, SOMEBODY has to help all the poor children with their health and education. At least, that's what Clinton told me when slapping the additional tax on tobacco products.
And people say I am insensitive.
