I'm taking Judson because they have all the ingredients that you need to beat SLC. A tough defense with good DB's. They have players who can make big plays on defense and they're disciplined enough to make tackles, not get out of position, and coached well enough to adjust to what SLC does. On offense, they're going to try to shave time off of the clock and keep it close. Judson also does well on special teams.

I think a lot of teams get shook when facing SLC off the strength of the mystique.

One things for sure, Judson might not win ALL the time, but we have NEVER been shook in a game cause of someones name or rep!

The two most successful teams in the state over the last few years. It would definitely be a clash of traditions. However, this years SLC would edge out Judson. I think the Judson defense would match up well with the SLC offense but I don't think the Judson offense could score enough points against SLC's defense to stay in the game.

I think Judson would be very competitive, and pull out a close win. SLC is a great program, and have absolutely dominated 5A since moving up, but like it has been mentioned too many times, offense wins games, defense wins championships. This Judson team has an outstanding defense. People seem to forget, or maybe they don't realize, Judson had to replace 8 coaches this year, including both the OC and the DC. Not to mention all the injuries earlier in the season. That is a lot of change, and even a tradition rich program like Judson, is not immune to that much change. There is a great article in todays SA newspaper about how the kids finally accepted and have started to trust the new coaches. I don't think there are too many programs that would not have to have an adjustment period after that much change. These kids start in 7th grade learning the Judson system, then new coaches come in and change things up. I give the kids and the coaches credit, they came together at the right time and are now playing up to their abilities. And I think they have their best game still in them. Go Rockets!!

How do you know they don't? I have followed Judson since the 70's. Their defense this year, they way they are playing right now, would rival any they have had in that time span. Read my earlier post on this thread, Judson has gone through alot of change this year, they finally have all the pieces in place and are gelling at the right time. It is my opinion that of all the teams left in the playoffs, any class or division, that Judson does have the best defense. Who's better defensively?? Go Rockets!!

This matchup would definitely give Judson their 5th!! :eek: loss of the year no doubt. I know Judson lost to several div2 teams like Cove, and Smithson Valley , and more correct?? Judson is one of the greatest 5a teams ever but you have to admit div1 does not compare to div2 this year or last year. SGP beat Trinity and they lost in the 2nd round of the div2 playoffs. I am just speaking fact's i am not trying to run any team down. div1 has not even came close to holding div2's jock in the last 2 years. That is why they should get rid of this div1 and div2 mess.

Most of your top D1 teams each year would be competitive with D2.

plano had an amazing defense this year, could stop the run and the pass, but southlakes offense is just unbeleivable, theyr not so one deminsional anymore, newton can run the ball. before going into the plano/slc game i thought we would be able to shut down slcs offense, which we did for the first half, but theres no team that can shut them down for an entire game this year. their defense is also highly underated this year. you really just have to play them to understand. not saying theyr unbeatable this year, just pretty damn close
