So I'm trying to make plans with my kids to come down on Spring Break. I dont know if my daughter is going to come or not at this point. Still working on that.

So I'm thinking I can get them down here on Southwest for $122 each, according to their website. They'll have to miss 3 days of school. So what? I think they could swing that part without being in trouble.
So they'll get to Austin on a Wed. we'll stay here with me. I'll prolly have to rent a hotel since I dont wanna pack people in where I live. Since I just rent a room from a family, I'd rather not. They're ok with it, but still. It might would be weird for my kids, even though they wouldnt say anything.

So we'd stay in Austin from wed to sat. Then get up Sat. drive to Shreveport. Hang out there until monday morning. Then drive from Shreveport to Kansas City. Then I can stay the nite there and leave Tues morning and come back to Austin.

You youngsters, does this sound like an ok plan? I dont know what the heck we're gonna do while here in Austin. I havent checked out what all might be going on then. My kids are too young for bars and stuff, so that's out.

In Shreveport I know where all to go and what all to do. We wont be there but for a couple of days anyway. That'll give my parents time to blow money on them. And driving 12hrs from there to KC will be good. That way we can talk about serious parental stuff and listen to loud music (we all like the same music). And we can stop in podunk towns in Arkansas and make people freak out and stuff.

What do you people think about my plan thus far? I know there are a lot of spaces to filled in with it. But that's what I got so far. And keep in mind that I've not seen either of my kids since 2003. My son and I are great. My daughter has been kinda ignoring me for a while so that's a whole other situation.

I'm asking because I dont know. haha. I've not had my kids with me since they were very small. They used to come on the weekends. But again, that was 2003. It's been a while.
My brothers 2 older kids are the same age. But it's different having other peoples kids kick it with you. My brothers kids still think uncle Pinion is kool.

ya. haha.

I talked to my son last nite and he's all excited. I was trying to get his mom on the phone so we could set something in stone. She was cooking and said she'd have to call me back. Still waiting on that call. I texted my son a little bit ago and told him to crawl up his moms arse about it tonite. Otherwise, she'll wait until she knows it'll be a huge pain to arrange. Or until it'll end up costing me 3X the amount it should cost.
Which, my back-up plan to that is: "Hey, I'm in Kansas City and I have the Police with me. I'm coming to visit my kids."
I just hope she doesn't let it get to the point.

My son liked the idea of flying down and me taking him back by car. We talked about putting him on Amtrak to get here, but that would end up taking 2 days due to an 11hr layover in St.Louis. I dont want my son kicking it at a train station for 11hrs. Too much that can go wrong with that scene.
He also told me it didnt matter what we did while he's in Austin. So I think I'll take him to some of the caves/caverns around here, since we both get into that kind of thing. And we'll prolly go screw around and find some live music that he can get in to see, since we're both into live music.

Or as Al Bundy would say...."Son,you're a man now.....let's hit the NUDEY BAR"

ok. Just got an email from the Xwife.

My son is for sure coming down. I get to pick whatever dates. YAY ME!
So tomorrow Ima sit down with my boss and get that lined out.

He's flying down and I'm driving him back. My daughter has ZERO desire to come down here. No worries though because when I drive my son back she says (my daughter) that she wants to spend a day with me. Just she and I. That'll be good. Then I can start working on fixing that little issue.

So there's my killer news for the day.

I think Ima go smoke now.

Since it has been a while...
I think it's cool if your son comes alone...
Hit the hot spots around Austin...(ignore dada advise)...
And spend some time with the female offspring when you take your son home...

See if UT has a bball game, maybe he'll like going to that?

My son has ZERO interest in sports. NONE. I dont get it. He's way way off into music and stuff though. He's not the band nerd type. He could play football if he wanted to. He'd be huge if he worked out just a little bit, but he just has no interest in that. I blame his mom. lol.

We'll find plenty to get into around here. I'm sure of that.

Hey bro I dont know what all your kids are into, but there are some pretty cool things to do around Austin. Here are several we enjoy everytime we go.

The Museum of Art at Laguna Gloria, Zilker Park and Botanical Gardens, The State Capitol, The LBJ Library and Museum at UT (and while your there you can check out the campus as well as the Tower) If you dont mind climbing 100 steps, you could go to Mount Bonnell and city a panaramic view of the city, the CA bats are pretty awesome as well, though it ont be open for another few months...still very cool though. I also recommend the Inner Space Caverns ( rock caverns....very very cool) north of Austin about 10 or so miles.

Anyways, just a few suggestions.
