Lufkin uses the wing-t with a wish-bone set thrown in every once in awhile to confuse the defense. Run the ball 60-70 times a game. We never ever throw the ball!

SV: 50-50 pass run ratio, mostly bootleg and stretch plays
CoJu: Spread O as of late w/some I formation running *please correct me if i'm wrong, those are the only formations i notice*

Mostly Lufkin does stay in the wish bone but goes with the maryland I on the goal line.

I liked the Jorvorski Lane I last year - very effective unless the D lines up 14 in the box. Lane is twice the man Henry Melton from UT is. Melton needs to toughen up.

IMO Melton won't last at UT..he got some PT this year but there are too many skeletons in that closet....(grades, attitude, weight, etc)

Neither Melton or Lane impressed me. They are just short yardage big backs. The premier college runningback in Texas is Jamaal Charles.

North Shore's bread and butter is the lead draw out of the I formation. Believe it or not they can throw the ball when need be but generally just stick to the run.

Other teams play offense? That surprises me.

Just give us 200 yards a game and we'll be okay.

There are many offenses run troughout the state and most offenses get their name from either their primary formation (Wing T) or primary play (Option). Most teams will be base their offense on something like a multiple I (two backs in the backfield at different levels, afullback and a tailback). There are many variations you can use off of a basic I. You can go weak and line up the fullback weak. You can go strong and line your fullback up to your strength. You can go power I and bring your "Z" into the backfield an a third back (mostly used in goalline). In the spread you typically have one back or no back with multiple recievers (like SLC). Most teams will base out of something and through their formation call when they line up they will have many formations they line up in. I have seen a team up to 56 formations in one game. That was crazy. Most teams will limit the number of plays they have so that they will no the plays they run real well, and just run them out of different formations to get the blocking scheme or secondary alignment they want to run that play against. Every team has tendencies and as we watch film on weekends we will see how a team will line up against certain formations. This is how we will see how they line up and play each formation. It gives the offenses often times a small edge at the beginning of a game, bu then a good defensive staff will see how they are being attacked and make adjustments. Then it is the offenses turn to make adjustments and the chess match is on. There are multiple offenses run throughout the state, none really better than another. What makes SLC's spread, or the old Two tight I from Judson (before this year), or San Marcos's wing T special is the coaching behind it and the coaching staffs ability to sell the kids that are running it that it is the best for them. That is what makes a good offense good. You can look around the state and see alot of teams trying to copy SLC's offense and not being as good, that is on the coaching/selling of that offense that the coaching staff has done. Well I will stop at that.:D

For a more exact comparison, you would have to watch Middle Tennessee State.

I know some Lufkin people are gonna crap a brick here but with all the RB's UT has coming next year Melton will get moved to DE and will be an All American DE where Javorskie will just be another good RB in another crappy A&M offense

Summit runs a flexbone offense. Watch Navy play - you'll see exactly what Summit does.

The Colts and SLC don't run the same stuff.
Manning is under center a lot. The SLC quarterback is never under center I thought?
NFL offenses are all "Pro-Set"
It seems like 70% of Texas runs a variation of the spread offense now.
Do any teams run the Spread Option like Urban Meyer's offense? and do they run it effectively??

Garland runs the Wing-T. We tried playing spread during the 01' season and lost our first 6 games before returning to the tried and true Wing T to finish the year 3-7 ;).

Longview - Power I
This year King really opened up the playbook by using some shotgun formations. But he forgot to use it in every game except for West Monroe. LOL
