So I was checking the latest recruiting lists by Scout.com after reading their current top ten list at CNNSI, and I was stunned.
There, just out of the top ten (11) were my Texas Tech Red Raidersn with 20 recruits. This, to a Raider Fan, is phenomenal.
Yeah, I know that February is a long way a way, and the recruits will still commit and decommit, but this is shaping up to be one of the better classes in the country. Leach has lured several four star athletes, both on D and O,
and a 5 star juco lineman (who turned down the likes of USC and Florida)
Of course, we have a long way to go to catch the Longhorns at No 1, but right now our class is No 2 in the Big 12. It might not stay that way, but just to be in the running for such a high spot this late in the game is uncharted waters for the Red Raiders, and an indication of the direction the program is headed if Leach continues to stay-- he is attracting players who in previous years would have considered TT as a back up school only.
The Red Raiders, under Spike Dykes and Leach, hjave consistenly overperformed with recruits that most other schools didn't want. What is Leach going to bea ble to do with a near top ten recruiting class? Hopes here are high, but we will still wait and see. Stellar recruiting classes are not always the answer, but, I'd still rather have 'em.
