I just got finished listening to the Katy-Cy falls game on tsrn archives.I am not impressed!CY Falls gets a kick off fumble recovery at the 9,after just scoring,and throws an interception!!!!What is there no closing off. cordinator thinking?

You run the ball at least 3 plays,and at the very least take the fg, 10 points in 2 minutes,and kick off again!NO! you throw an int. 2 plays later Katy stills your MO----mentum.The announcers said they (cy-falls) had to hold on at the end,the 3 previous play off games too!

Katy.....Hill wont be playing such a bone head way this week.CY Falls up 28-10 with a couple of minutes left in the 3rd quarter.Merry Christmas!!!!!!It wont be a happy new year,when SV destroys you.

If you want the feeling the SV fans have on this game.Go and listen to the SV-Madison game played last saturday,on tsrn.But beware you will feel very uncomfortable during,and after the game broadcast!

But hey just relax let the teams duke this one out and just enjoy the game. As you can see I am from Katy and I am in no way being rude to you so if you're as classy and mature as I think you might be then please do not be rude back and respect who you are playing cuz we respect you. Well said! After the really good discussion threads that have been about Katy and SV, this bonehead jumps out all cocky and arrogant. No credit to either team. This type of post is meant solely for the purpose of getting a rise out of us posters. Not from me, I'll simply restate my previous post on the exact same subject (unoriginality may be a sickness, thank god it's not contagious).

SV will be the best team that Katy has played all year. Katy will be the best team SV has faced (despite their loss from months ago) Both teams will bring it before a SRO crowd. The team that wants it most will continue playing and hopefully beat SLC/Lufkin to bring the Title back to the South. The opposing team will lose with class and poise representing their program well... and that's all I have to say about that.

Thats your opinion.But we have played better,and you will see first hand.Katy has been exposed,and exposed to one of the best eyes to detail in 5 A football.Coach Hill,and The SV coaching Staff.I was concerned a bit more,before i heard that game.Falls should have tried to run the clock alot more,and make Katy use some time outs,if they wanted to stop it along the way.This is football 101 when your up by 18 with 14 minutes to go!

I don't care what team you put on that field, KHS is going to make it a game, especially this late in the playoffs. You can rant all you want about SV and your power backs and your precious Coach Hill, but nobody cares. The game is on Saturday, and any questions we have will be answered on the field.

I'm assuming you will be watching and not playing, as I would expect a player from a program the caliber of SV to have more class than you are exhibiting. Given that, I hope you have the nuts to show up here after the game and eat your serving of crow if KHS comes away victorious.

I watched two prior Cy-Falls playoff games and they made mistakes in both games at the end. Katy was the only team good enough to cash in on those type of mistakes. Strake Jesuit won more than one game this season that way.

I'm kinda sick of people raggin on the Cy falls coaches for losing the game by throwin in the endzone when they were up.

here's why you cant blame them:

Katy thought they were goin to run it three times and were loading up.

Cy falls QB looks left and sees a SOPHOMORE DB 5'9" lined up man to man on their tallest reciever. (some have said there were three defenders in the area...check the film...you're wrong)of coarse you give your guy a shot to make the play.

if you catch katy off gaurd there, the game is defintley over...a field goal would not have won the game then(32-31).

Cf falls had total confidence in their defense...they had kept katy to only ten points and it seemed as though the wheels had come off the train.

so there....thats my take....katy would have done the same thing if the table were turned. my ears heard so and you can trust that my ears hear more from the sidleines than most.(they're really big..lol)

Yes we are - I'm getting tired of hearing about how we are "just" a 9-4 team and Katy was looking beyond the game and the coaches did this and the coaches did that. It was a great game and, in my opinion, a preview and insight into what Cy Falls will be about next year - I think it will be a great 2006 for the Golden Eagles but they were NO slouch on Saturday or during this whole playoff run...In each game, they had gut check time and 3 out of 4 of those times, they passed. And, I think they passed Saturday, even with the loss - everyone had them losing by a huge margin and they played Katy better than anyone this year. Katy is an awesome team that went up against another awesome team - this game more than likely helped Katy in their quest for state because they were definitely tested to the limit...and they, too, passed. Good Luck on Saturday Katy Tigers!! I'll be at Cy Falls HS selling peanuts all day but I'll be at Tully in spirit.

I believe it was the same OC that called the bonehead plays at the end of the Strake /Falls game that gave Strake a chance to keep that game close. However, Katy won their game and Strake.... well they lost.

Strake - I must be reading different threads that you. I have seen posts stating that CF outplayed us for 3.75 quarters and they did. But for some reason you failed to notice what they had to do to win. How did CF score their points?? One interception led to a touchdown, a blocked punt let do another. So, Katy can intercepts two passes in the end zone and block a punt but that is not impressive to you? Coming back from an 18 point 2nd half deficit is not impressive????? The Katy players never gave up - is that not impressive? I have not read any post or article quoting anyone that said Katy just decided it was time to win the game and then just did it. What is it like in your world??????:confused:

Strake - I must be reading different threads that you. I have seen posts stating that CF outplayed us for 3.75 quarters and they did. But for some reason you failed to notice what they had to do to win. How did CF score their points?? One interception led to a touchdown, a blocked punt let do another. So, Katy can intercepts two passes in the end zone and block a punt but that is not impressive to you? Coming back from an 18 point 2nd half deficit is not impressive????? Thats your opinion.But we have played better,and you will see first hand.Katy has been exposed,and exposed to one of the best eyes to detail in 5 A football.Coach Hill,and The SV coaching Staff.I was concerned a bit more,before i heard that game.Falls should have tried to run the clock alot more,and make Katy use some time outs,if they wanted to stop it along the way.This is football 101 when your up by 18 with 14 minutes to go!

SV would be grinding it out with 2 power backs.This is football not badmitton,and my game face is starting to happen,so sit on your hands,and put tape over your mouth.But i`m not going too.I am so pumped to be the underdog in this game,and if were really,really lucky,next week,we can seek our real target... A few of Katy's guys looked quick though, like Fuda and Thompson...

Falls' D line was probably one of the better defensive fronts in the state. I think that had a lot to do with Katy's running game "looking slow". Katy's DBs were playing off of the Falls WRs because Coach Joseph is a smart man. If you let a WR run by you then it only takes one play to beat you. If you keep him 10 yards in front of you then the offense has to make a lot of plays to beat you (amazes me how some teams still let SLC beat them over the top over and over and over again). The Katy LB's getting in the holes to stop the CF's RBs goes back to being disciplined. If the LBs take that step up when they read run then a TE can run right by them. I don't think Katy is the fastest team in the state, but to say they are slow or look slow is just incorrect.

And this quote is exactly the opposite of what you were saying when it came to people criticizing Strake. That's ok because we can see through your messages. Don't expect anyone to respect your opinions since you can't even practice what you preach.

StrakeDrake is his own worst enemy I'm afraid. On several games this year, his view of what happened and my view were totally different. I'm not a coach nor a football expert, but I've definitely seen more SV and Katy games than he has. I was in the stands in 02 at Bobcat stadium and saw a very good SV team catch Katy offguard on two big plays that Katy never really recovered from. The game was close and as I remember it, I think the difference in the score was one possession. I watched SV give SLC all they wanted last year in the title game and come up a little short. These last 4 teams are all pretty evenly matched and could go any direction. But, StrakeDrake, your view of the Falls game is totally different from mine on most points. Yes, as it turns out, one field goal on either of the two possessions other than the last one at the end of the game would have won it. I too would have pounded the ball, run clock and settled for the field goal instead of pushing it. But, the players take the shots they are trained to spot. Falls was a very good team, but to say that Katy capitilized on breakdowns by Falls to luck out a win without understanding that Falls did the very same thing to Katy is missing something. Katy did not outplay Falls in the first half. It was about even in my opinion with Katy making a couple of really bad mistakes and still surviving with a small lead. Falls was playing at a level above what we had seen them play as well. And I'll bet I had seen more Falls games than you had (5). Their coach may not have delighted you with his play calling, but he had Katy on the ropes which had not been done by anyone all year. Falls played one heck of a game and Katy was brain dead on some plays. If you had seen maybe more than one Katy game, then maybe you could understand where I'm coming from. Katy player after player ran the wrong routes or forgot who to block etc etc and I doubt they do that again but if so they will not stay with the calibre of a school like SV. I saw SJ play 5 games this year as well and can say without hesitation that its good that your team decided not to play Katy. I have said many times in the past that your team impressed me with its ability to hang in there till the end with only 35 players to use. Says a lot about the level of your first 15-20 players. No one in 19-5a was on Katy's level this year including SJ. Aint Katy's fault but thats the way it was. If you want someone to say that Katy was lucky to win against Falls, I'll agree in the same manner that luck plays a part in most games to some degree. If, woulda, coulda, shoulda, maybe etc etc could be mentioned a lot about most games. Katy took what Falls gave them after regrouping from a mistake filled 3rd quarter. Falls took advantage in that quarter as they should have and they took care of business like the better than record team they are. Katy did not overlook Falls anymore than SJ overlooked Falls. Falls just got better and better as the playoffs rolled on. They will be back next year I assure you. And to SVite and those who listened to the game on the TSRN site, and that Katy was lucky to come back from an 18 point third quarter deficit against a 9-4 team. How many times has SV been down 18 late in the third. And who is to say that we get down by 18 to anyone again. At least Katy knows they can do it. The 2002 team didnt have the firepower this one does, ask Falls. In fact, I think that the Falls game was the first this year that someone actually had any lead over Katy at any time in any game. Oh well, but that was against some pretty lame competition like Woodlands, Humble, Elsik, Cy Creek who all made the playoffs last time I checked. I know that SV played in a much more competitive district than Katy did and I gotta a lotta respect for them for just that reason plus Katy has a lotta respect for SV period. I will guarantee you that whoever wins on Saturday will get my support against the north cause us south landers gotta take back the hardware. Go south.

Not only do the players have respect but so do their parents and most of their fans (every team has the "bad egg . I just found out from a friend who had heard from one of the bus drivers that some of the parents and fans of Katy lined up by OUR buses Saturday after the game and shook hands with and told the Eagles players what a good job they had done. I think that is just too awesome and great sportsmanship! The boys might not have cared one way or another at that point in time (I'm sure they were numb form leaving all they had on that Rice field) but they will remember that when the pain is all gone.

I'm really glad to hear that because that's not what I've heard from any of the kids at the other Katy schools - of course you have to take into consideration that those are rivalries. Not many people I know have had good experiences with the Katy fans. But, I have to say they're players seems to be very respectful of the opponents coaches and players. I was shocked that they aren't one of the finalist for the Sportsmanship Award, but I understand it's rated from the refs and a buddy of mine that's a ref says for some reason Katy gets scored low from the ref crews. He thinks it's more the coaches and fans that get the low scores and not the players. Which sounds kinda strange to me since the coaches are the ones that influence the players behavior and I know the Katy players are respectful because of their coaches.
