Gotcha beat! Here's a kid who went from benching under 100 lbs as a Sophmore to, now, benching 520 lbs as a Senior. He benched 300 as a Jr! Quick question.. any horse-roids involved?? Riiiiight. ;)

An article came out on Beaumont West Brook's Christine Michael last year saying he squatted over 500 pounds. His coach (Craig Stump) said he didn't know how much more Michael could do, and didn't want to find out. He said it gets to a point when it becomes unsafe to go any higher on maxes. Maxes are an nsignificant part of weight lifting unless you're in a power lifting competition.

That is an insane amount. My assumption is that the official max for football is a full Olympic style squat. I may be wrong. I would honestly like to know. A powerlfiting style squat is much more condusive to these type of amounts. Even then 800 pounds is no joke for a powerlifter either. So however he did that squat it is still an insane amount. To be lifting this much at his age is incredible.
Another thing that is no joke either is a herniated disc.
You can get those with bad form and relatively small weight. However, when the endophins are flowing during lifting we sometimes try things we should not.
Also it should be noted that folks who lift that kind of weight in competition do not squat with that during training sessions often. You risk injury doing that. They use lower weights like in the 405 lb range with bands added. Bands are good for explosiveness. Kinda like Olympic lifts. They also switch in supporting movements like good mornings, box squats and so on. IMHO this is more inline with playing football than a high max. For all I know this may be what he did to get this strong.
I hope he is able to make this work for a college education and maybe go pro.
