for all of you out there finding it difficult to make your way towards nacogdoches, like me, i believe i will settle for this state title match-up, saturday at Rose Stadium......heard it was going to be really hard to get tickets for SLC/Lufkin, plus, that place down there will be a packed madhouse........ the "richies VS the rednecks" in Tyler should be a pretty good game.....Marshall has one loss on the season...wonder who that was to??????

I sincerely hope Marshall keeps HP's long dry spell for state titles running. Can anyone really root for HP?

Rich schools can, but they usually hate each other, too. I hope Marshall wins, too.

HP is favored and they're better. They have a top QB and I think they win the game. Playing in Tyler should help Marshall quite a bit because East Texas will go root for them.

There's rich and there's Highland Park. HP was predicted to be irrelevant as recently as a decade ago because no one wanted to live in an old, beat-up 1,500 square foot home you paid $800,000 for. Then the private schools (St. Marks, etc.) hit capacity and all the elitists starting moving back to HP - tearing down the old homes for new $1.5Million plus homes and the district came roaring back. Lives of the rich and snobbish.

A lot of people have said the same thing about Katy...My friend and her son are not rich. She did have to marry into some money to keep her house though. It doesn't matter if thier rich, they must have a good football program and some good players to go undefeeated.

got to go with Lonny on this one----HP is favored, i don't know about "better"?? the Scots have an excellent QB who will shread pass defenses to death...if he doesn't find anyone, he will take off--great runner......Marshall, on the other hand, will have the entire population of East Texas there to support them-- that may help, a little.....but, Marshall is no slouch by any means...i've seen them play...they gave us fits, and that was just the 1st game of the season....i could only guess that they have gotten a hell of alot better since the end of August to have made it back to the state title game for the 2nd year in a row......they have an excellent running game, good passing game, quick, hard-hitting defense.....it won't be easy for HP, i can assure you that...........Marshall lost this last season in a close one---they are pretty hungry about this one.......should be a really good, close, hard-fought game.........

Stafford is a great passer..he can't run at all..they laugh if he takes off because he's slow..he did score this past week & even he was laughing...

Bleed, why don't you c'mon over to Shreveport Sat. and you can watch the ECA title game with Baby and I. We can talk about next year and crack jokes about West Monroe.
It'll be big fun. I'll buy the peanuts...

Let me start by saying I don't like the Scots and I had a great time setting with the folks from Marshall last week at the Phlugerville game. I have seen both Marshall and HP play this year. HP is far more talented than Marshall from what I saw. HP is crisp, sharp etc. HP's Stafford is a great QB. Marshall is smash mouth with a runner (Jackie Robinson) who can rumble for about 40 yards and then gets caught. Marshall will need to play a perfect game to stay in it with HP.
On the news tonight they said all the Marshall tickets were sold. There will be some standing room tickets sold at the gate.

Dallas Morning News reports the HP game will be televised locally on KDFI channel 21 with a new 3:00 start time. I don't like HP at all but they will roll.

You may be correct Knight but I sure hope Marshall takes the Scots down. Sounds like they may have trouble slowing down Stafford.

HP has huge O-line, great QB, fast, smart players and well coached. Kinda like the Dragons without the Defense!

Marshall has just the same, brother.....if they didn't, they wouldn't be there for the 2nd time in a row, right???? good running game, good short-route, passing game, very mobile QB, talented defensive line, quick defense, as a whole--hard to turn the corner on........both teams are equally talented, why would the Scots roll??
