Here in Italy, i'm also an assistant coach...and I saved coach's a**:Censor: a lot of time. He isnt upgrade about modern football. He is not good about a lot of football's things. :D. Remember there are good and bad coaches and sometimes assistants help to improve the situation.

A good head coach should have the say as to who the assistants are, so it is all about the head coach. If the assistants aren't doing there job it is his fault if he doesn't fix it. If he has assistants that do a great job he can sit back and look like the genius.

Assistant's #1 duty is to be loyal to the boss & the program. Part of that role is to help the boss achieve success.

If the boss achieves success, you may be the one that gets an opportunity to try on the "leaders shoes" (along with that heavier wallet) after you've earned it through genuine loyalty.

An assistant that remotely views his role as "saving the coaches a**, from experience, is just a step away from undermining an entire program.

I'm sure you are great with x's and o's, but the minute you express yourself to the other coaches is the minute most will distance from you. And then the dominos start falling.

Lastly, there's no anchor attached to your behind, is there?

I agree with you:)....but just to clarify. I do not see the role of assistant coach as "saving coach's a**", maybe i wrong to say : sometimes assistants help to improve the situation.
In fact I agree with you in helping him to succeed .... In past post i have said that often we (team) found ourselves in bad situations due to the shortcomings coarser of the head coach...and in that cases i tried to solve that situation...just to bring us to success. ;)

Lastly, there's no anchor attached to your behind, is there?

Wich sense?
if you want to say that I can go from the team ... well remember that I'm in Italy and is already so if there are guys who play football.Only passion ;)
However i coach yet with this head coach...

Wich sense?
