Well I grew up in Lufkin played for the Panthers and have been around some great football players. And been to some great Stadiums got to play at Texas Stadium and see the Star in person and the locker room it was fun.

Got to say we are spoiled most texas stadiums are nice and have tracks and lights and are good places to watch games. So i join the navy move to Sandiego and move across from a highschool.look up and guess what NO Lights,NO track well DIRT. Stadium about 1,000 if that no Visitor Stands just the roll on type before the games. And they have about 2 paid coaches the rest are voulanters. this is a big school in Sandiego. there are mayn in this area that are like that they have to play on Saturday afternoon because of the lights. heck there was a schoo out here that could not afford uniforms and had donations so they could play. Check this one out the players dont get on buses most drive to the games in there pads with there parents and family.

But i will sat this this area has some great athletic people. got to see reggie bush at mt. helix when i first got here there stadium is crap but was jammed packed of people just to see him. They play there playoff games using the home and home situation and all STATE championships (sectional in califonia) are played at Qualcame (charger stadium) they have nothing else that is big to play in.

And yet we compain when we have to play at a 15,000 seat stadium. GIVE ME A BREAK PEOPLE WE ARE BLESSED TO HAVE GREAT FOOTBALL IN TEXAS.

how would you feel having your kid run on dirt tracks or pay for his on shoes to play football or taking them to the games???GET OVER THE STADIUM ISSUE AND EVERYTHING ELSE. WE ARE SPOILED IN TEXAS!!!!!

WE ARE SPOILED IN TEXAS!!!!!

I was not born in Texas. I joined the Navy and when I got out in 1981 I got a job at Vought Aircraft in Grand Prairie Texas. I have lived in Texas half my life now and love it. There is absolutely nothing like Texas High School football. It is so ingrained in the culture. I think it expresses a lot of the character of the people of Texas. Cconstructing places to play and to watch football is a great investment in the next generation. There is much tradition and I think that is simply awesome. Thats just the opinion of someone who has been a guest for about twenty-five years.
I am just glad to be here!!! So I am even luckier.

That is why i cant understand the whole thing the DMN got there take on the situation and lots of people dont realize what other areas outside texas have to play in and yet we complain about this issue. sure some fans may not get to show up to the games over the weekend well like you would understand being in the navy before. there is nothing you can do about it, it is life you just have to go with it and take it and learn from it. and maybe this issues this year may get the policy changed who knows. I got to come home for the Pack and Longview game at it was so amazing.

I'm temporarily working in the New Orleans area and have been to about 5 HS games. Small stadiums and small crowds by our standards. Saw River Ridge John Curtis (aka:Evangel Christian South) in a state semi final game. It was played at East Jefferson HS stadiun. Capacity maybe 5K. Attendance roughly 2000. And this was semi final game. John Curtis is impressive, even by Texas standards. Too many penalties, 160 yds., and 3 TOs., but still were up 39-0 at half. All purpose junior named McKnight is solid D 1 player.

So you are not sick anymore? The playoff times are not arranged so that you can see the games like we used to. The Div II semi's are being played about the same time. I did go to Waco with KT2000 to see Lufkin vs C.Cove at the Floyd. Horrible seats for the fans. I've seen Jr. at a couple of games. Has he been keeping you informed?

I agree with the opening thread. I grew up in Amarillo and we had a terrific stadium and for the most part all of the teams we played had nice facilities as well. I live in Washington state now, and let me tell you HS football up here is not even close to Texas. The stadiums are very very small, very rundown, and the level of football is very poor. Occassionally there are a few suprises talent wise, but very dissappointing as a fan. Merry Christmas to all of you and the very best of the New Year:D

I grew up in Lufkin and spent 21 years in the Fort Worth area. I didn't realize how spoiled I was in regards to high school football until I moved to Ohio. Yeah, what a great football state.... yeah, right. They do have some good teams and a couple of great teams, but that is about it. I have lived here enough years to see my share of football games in various classifications and stadiums. You wouldn't believe how small the stadiums are for the HUGE schools. I am talking about one school that had a graduating class of over 3000 students. It was the largest high school in Ohio and the stadium holds about 1500 students. Amazing!
