There is no doubt that players have gotten taller, heavier, stronger, and faster. But will this ever plateau. ESPN says that pretty soon we will see the first seven foot TE or a kicker who can consistenly hit 70 yd field goals. Wow.....

The days of the stud rb are over. Every team needs two good rb's to get 15 carries a game - and you're still gonna be washed up at 28.

I dunno, our bodies are gonna have to change to support that kind of weight and muscle mass.
The days of the stud RB today because they aren't the only ones dishing out punishment anymore.

I think the idea that we will keep getting bigger and bigger is just plain wrong. the only reason players are bigger and stronger now is that we actually know what the hell we are doing now as coaches.
50 years there was a fear of muscle making players "muscle bound and immobile". Then 40 years ago isometric lifting was all the rage. After exercise scientists figured out what we responded too there was a transition period where most teams slowly added in lifting into their systems. Players wont keep growing at this rate as there is only so much we can add to the equation now.
Nutrition, proper exercise, and rest have all been figured out. We are looking at microscopic details now trying to find the next edge as we have pretty much taped out what we can do right now.

Along those lines, can you imagine the problems a 7 foot TE would having protecting those legs?
