There will be only 14,000 seats at SFA and 6,000 more in the grass. That's only 20,000 total.Someones going to get left out.

i am really tired of everyone complaining about the size of the stadium... if lufkin had lost the flip we would have all just gotten in our cars early on saturday morning and driven to dallas and cheered for the panthers. BUT we won the flip and so now we just have to get up early and drive 30 minutes and cheer for the panthers. i am also getting a little tired of all of the people from slc griping about coach outlaw being so selfish. well let me tell you the man is anything but selfish. i would say LOYAL is the word... loyal to his kids, his asst. coaches, his school and his fans!! we have played 4 games and driven 3.5 hours to waco to play 3 of them.... so now he felt that it was his turn to make it easy on us (the fans from lufkin) to get to the game and get to see one of the best high school games in the state this year! believe me everyone who comes will get to see the game... so let's talk some football and quit all the whining....

Guess what? This thread was started by an LP fan not an SLC fan. In fact, I'm the first SLC fan to post on this thread and I'm not complaining.

Yes - about 6,000 casual fans that would have gone to the game at A&M or 8,000 at Texas Stadium will stay home - sorry to hear that. There were 33,000 or so at Floyd last year - 6,000 of which were casual fans - that takes it down to 27,000. A couple of thousand SLC fans that would have driven to Waco probably won't make it - SFA has held 25,000 on two occasions - SFA vs. McNeese St. in '95 and Lufkin vs. Longview in '04. I sat in the grass for 1.5 qtrs. last year and, hey, it was fun. With that count - I will also say another 3-4,000 could have EASILY sat in the grass - just look at the pics posted - you have a max. grass coverage of 50%.

I'll make two absolute iron-clad guarantees:
1) You will not get turned away at the gate - so chill.

2) I guarantee you the kids will be digging it - fans hanging off of every corner of the facility - we certainly don't won't to put the kids first now do we ;)

So as long as there are people sitting in grass the kids would rather have 10,000 less fans watching them?

Don't take all their whining personal. Their still licking their wounds from nearly losing to Plano on Saturday. The pampered ones will probably still arrive there in their 14 passenger stretch limo like they did at Texas Stadium. I sure hope you have a great back-up QB! Good luck on Saturday.

From one Panther to another, good luck!

once and for all, Dead Dog field would have been about the same drive for both teams, with plenty of room for everyone, although the concessions stink at the playoff games there, but ultimately it would have been equal for both sides. But no grass? what kind of speed advantage does he think he has on Lufkin? He should have agreed to the Aggie House and sprayed Miracle Grow on that grass in hopes of slowing down LP.

The arrogance of the coach and this crazy belief by the SLC fans that all the kids should love to play in Texas Stadium just because the Pokes play there is insane. It is the Dragons home away from home and everone knows it. SLC is one of the top programs in the country, as is Lufkin. Neither team got to where it is because they thought of the other guys feelings. Dodge did what his T-sippin heart told him to do( why/ I do not know) and Outlaw did what his piney woods heart told him to do.
The kids won't care how many people were there. If Lufkin wins, they'll remember being "the Team" that did it. If SLC wins, hopefully it will be close like the last 2, the kids will remember being pushed to the brink and having the fortitude and desire to "Protect the Tradition"
If you want to blame someone, look in the mirror first because your coach denied you the roomy stadium. Outlaw just provided his team with the comfortable one.

Best of luck to 2 great teams. Hope all of the adults don't ruin it for 'em.

WDFF (the W stands for Whiney - your new handle to me) - kids love playing in front of a packed house - period. I can just see Coach Dodge's pre-game talk:

"Well guys, we've only got 25,000 packed-in screaming fans out there today -sorry to disappoint you - try to keep your chin up".

Gimmee a break - your whininess gives new meaning to the definition. Your picture will be beside the definition in the new '06 Webster's dictionary. What a honor for you.

I'll bet that SFA stadium is 100 times cleaner than TexSlum Stadium, Irving.

What a pig's pen the day after Thanksgiving. The upper deck was closed and guess what? It hadn't been cleaned up from the Cowboys game.

The lower deck was a filthy mess as well.

I hope to never set foot in that place again and I'm a HUGE cowboys fan and ACM probably had one of it's best wins ever there. Good riddance. Shame on Jerry Jones.

if everything goes according to plan, us senior's record will be 63 - 1 in our time in high school. i think we are the only class at carroll, maybe in the state ever to be able to say that. good luck next year w/o any WRs and a defense. Class of '06!

After two losses it's understandable that Coach Outlaw wanted to get every advantage possible.

Plus I met a sophomore a few weeks ago and I posted it in one of the blonde hair threads as the giant goofy kid with the curly hair. I don't think anyone in the senior class wants to mess with him. The kid is huge and I have seen him going up against the starting defense in practice and he was tearing them up on the scout team very early in the year.

NOT AT FIRST. So then they went to the TS and HBS flip and HE LOST and ALL OF THE SUDDEN HE SAYS HE WILL GO AHEAD AND PLAY AT KYLE FIELD AFTER REFUSING TO HAVE IT AS A NEUTRAL FIELD AND THEN LOSING THE COIN TOSS. TOO LATE. NO DICE. NOT GONNA WORK HERE. HE SHOULD HAVE AGREED TO IT FROM THE BEGINNING. THAT IS JUST AS SELFISH AS YOU ALL SAYING OUTLAW WAS. How clever of him huh. WHY DID DODGE REFUSE TO PLAY AT KF AND THEN CHANGE HIS MIND AFTER HE LOST THE COIN FLIP? See we could go back and forth with this issue but what is done is done. I see you get a rise out of BLAMING someone for something YOU don't like. JUST COME TO THE GAME AND DEAL WITH IT OR STAY HOME AND DEAL WITH IT. Is that so hard for you to do. LIFE IS NOT FAIR. Ok, hold on a second before you get all fired up. I'm not sure that many people besides Dodge, Outlaw, and whoever else was there know EXACTLY what happened, so let's toss it aside. Second, Dodge and Outlaw are both very classy men who have amazing mutual respect. Neither is pathetic, and anyone who says that either is pathetic needs to find a new pastime and quit trashing up this site. Third, the stereotype that SLC fans on the forums are "knuckleheads" is uncalled for and unappreciated here. We are all proud of our alma maters (class of '06 baby!) and we protect them with all we've got. However, this is done respectfully by members of both sides. All of us can be champions, not just those of us who happen to play 5A football. When was the last time you cheered on your band at a competition (not just halftime?) I'm just a little ticked that some of my family may not get seats, no matter whose fault it is.

-DragonBand06
You might need to read my message closer and understand what I was saying before you think I was trashing your TRUE fans or Coach. I know DANG well that these two coaches are very well respected and GREAT coaches at that. I didn't call SLC fans knuckleheads I said one of your former players called a FEW of your fans KNUCLEHEADS. Every school has those kinds of fans. Most of us have had great conversations with SLC fans but there are a FEW that are just clueless. Same goes for a FEW of our fans.

I think we all agree it will be one hell of a game either way it goes, and if the PACK does take us out, they deseve to go all the way and kick Katy's/SV's U-KNOW-WHAT.

Although I would like to get another shot at Katy for taking away my perfect 4-season run. Oh well, there's always the band :)

P.S. I bet my seats are better than urs Dragon08! :P

In your eyes it is not fair. Why don't you call Dodge and Outlaw and hold a conference call to see how it all really went down. Then you could record the conversation to post on here so everyone could hear how everything really happened. If you want to talk about being fair then it is only fair that all of us know the truth based on what they both say actually happened at the coin toss. It is not fair for you or me to be making assumptions or passing rumors around if we were not there to HEAR what actually happened. So you are not being fair and I am not being fair to the rest of the forum if we keep going by what we hear from so and so or what we read in the paper. Do you think it is fair?

What we know to be a fact:

A coin toss took place

Lufkin won the coin toss

Lufkin got to choose any stadium they wanted

Lufkin chose a stadium that is too small for this type of event

This is what I am basing my claims on. Lufkin chose a stadium that is too small. Carroll had nothing to do with Lufkin's choice of stadium.

The assumption that I have made:

Lufkin chose the stadium that they did because it is close to Lufkin

I think that is a reasonable assumption to make unless someone else can point to another reason that that stadium was chosen.

So if Lufkin chose a stadium that is too small because it is close to Lufkin, please tell me why that was not a selfish decision.

The atmosphere will be unbeatable, just like the LP/Lview game last year.

For goodness sake give it up. Even your own fans are not siding with you. Your not even going, and the stadium will hold enough. The grass hills although grass were made to watch a football game from. I am sure there are alot of lufkin fans that don't mind sitting in the grass that might give their seats to some holier than thou SLC fans. Also ask coach dodge who got the decission to flip. He chose to flip, and he got to call it in the air. He was given every chance to play at Kyle field, but he wanted to chance it and play at TS. SO he lost. It is not logical for us to pick kyle field when we win a home toss. That would still be almost 3 hours for us to drive. Thats not a home situation. What about Reliant we could have chosen there I guess. Thats only like 5 hours for yall, but that would have fit everybody. Would that have made you happy.

Yeah it was selfish; what's your point there mister "drive this topic in the ground". Should LP have made a decision to benefit SLC? If you got a problem with the stadium size please e-mail the SLC staff since they turned down Kyle Field.

Dragonfootballfan, Can't you get anything in you small microscopic brain? Quit blaming Outlaw for this, he offered a 90,000 seat stadium called Kyle Field, that is about equal driving distance for both schools, Dodge turn it down.

Dodge forced the home and home flip and lost because he refused to play at Kyle.

By the way I know for a fact that after Dodge lost the toss, they then tried to make an offfer to Lufkin to change their mind on SFA and come to Texas Stadium.

I like the fact we have you out of your little box. A little taste of deep East Texas will be good for you.

i dont know what other ppl are saying but i dont blame dodge for anything... i dont BLAME anybody period cuz there isnt anything to blame them for... there was a flip for home/home and lufkin won and heck yea he picked a "home" field!! wasnt that kinda the point?? im not angry with you or anything i just really dont get what you are complaining about... there isnt a field that is "home" to us that is any bigger. we travel all the time... we had to drive 3 hours to waco on a friday night... didnt get home til 2:30 am and some of our teenagers were invoved in a bad accident on the way home. of course outlaw chose sfa... he WON the fip! we all hate that it isnt bigger than it is but its not and i dont find that being selfish in the least! but hey we all have the right to voice our own opinions but ill tell ya one thing.... i think everybody in here already heard yours a few thousand times. you have a great football team and a great fan base... dont think your boys are too worried about where everybody is gunna sit.

Dodge should accept some respnsibility because he refused to play at the large Stadium that Outlaw offered to him. You have never explain why it is fair to Lufkin to volunteer to play in the Southlake backyard.

By the way Dodge lost the toss, my only regret now is that we didn't make you guys come to Abe Martin to play, then you would really be stinking mad.

DDF, I don't care what you think of Lufkin or Coach Outlaw, you guys have pretty much had your way about where you play for awhile now. Think LP and SLC have ticket concerns. Just saw on the news where Highland Park fans were allotted only 5500 tickets for their fans to watch a state championship game. The UIL should get involved. There is no excuse for this. I also understand that SLC, Katy, and SV have determined the final game. Once again, this is not to disrespect LP. You have to plan ahead. I'm sure LP coached have also worked out their schdule with Katy and SV already as well. SLC and Katy will go home and home. Texas Stadium and Reliant Stadium. PLENTY OF SEATING FOR EVERYONE! SV and SLC will go neutral in Waco, Floyd Casey Stadium. Once again, PLENTY of seats. If Outlaw stays true to form, will Nac get the nod again, or is there someplace else?

It still may or may not affect them. The players will be getting out of their normal routine, which is more important than what people think.

more than likely they will have a very regimented schedule for Friday night and Saturday morning. It will probably include some sort of practice on Friday and it will probably be around the time that they normally do it every other Friday on the week of a Saturday game.

I think they "have to" miss a day, not "get to"

They leave Friday and will have a walk through Friday afternoon/evening. Dodge is making sure to get the team to bed at a respectable hour and get them up as well. Hopefully our opponent won't do the same thing. Taking the drive out of SLC legs Saturday will allow them to be more fresh come Sat at 2.

DragonFootballFan,
you are killing me with this beating of the dead horse. You sound like Aggie Lawyer with these endless and fruitless posts. I am not happy about the decision either, not because of the drive, but I want everyone to get in and get a seat that wants to see the game. What I am hearing now is that all will get in. Let's hope so.

Lufkin won the toss and picked a "home" field. Dodge knew what the pick was before the flip and still chose to flip and take the risk. Maybe he should have put up Dragon Stadium as his choice to sway Outlaw to TS as a neutral site, but he didn't. Get over it!!!!

What value is this? Nothing will change. Are you even going to the game??

Good I go to SFA so I will get to watch them pratcice here Friday if they do practice out here. I know Lufkin usually practices a Homer Byce but now we have that indoor football field so I dont think I will see Lufkin here tomarrow it would be smart tho so they can get used to the actual field they will be playing on. I would love to holla at all me old teammates.

I am done with the stadium issue as long as nobody posts about it anymore. I would just like to state one last thing about it.

They say that they will let everybody in to sit on the grass or stand. Not all Carroll fans can do this. There are many grandparents of players and elderly Carroll fans that will not be able to do this for the entire game. Grass seating is not real seating.

will they allow carroll fans to stand on sidelines, since there is a track?

Im not sure it will get that packed I mean them Hills are huge. But if it came down to it they would have to. I have a sidlinepass but I always watch from the stands so I can see more but for this game I might have to go down on the sideline.

I understand that each team received 7500 tickets and that each team will have an endzone and a side for their fans. Tickets will be color-coded and only the right color ticket will be allowed to sit on their team's side. So maybe, NAC will truly honor the intent of a semifinal game. Both sides will be allowed to have representation.

Who told you they were colored coded. You can easily walk from one end to the othher. I do it at all the SFA games there is no way they can stop you from walking to the otherside. But I look for the walkway to be packed with viewers.

I seriously doubt that they will enforce that.

Lufkin KTRE News said that SFA Athletic director is only letting 18,000 tickets to be sold.

It's not looking too good.

Trust me they want turn down people at the gate. SFA is all about making money trust me. They said the same thing last year and they ended up saling standing room only anyway.

Hold up its time to get loked up

I hope the cold weather on Sat makes Outlaw sick. I think a dome is where you play games in Dec.

What a jerk. You should be more mature than this at your age.
