The 2nd metromess area college QB to transfer to A&M this offseason (SMU's Winston Gamso being the 1st). Not sure if either one will ever see the field and I don't know if Sherm is offering any cash to either of them. Also not quite sure why both of them decided to come to A&M rather than a IAA or DII school.

Thats an upgrade?:D

In all seriousness, isnt JJ a frosh? I dont see Vizza getting any meaningful PT behind a gamebreaker like JJ, maybe if he declares early or something.

And the thing about both of those is there is Carroll QB's waiting in the wings on both teams they left. Sucks to look over your shoulder and see a Carroll QB.

JJ is a sophomore. Still, it's not at all sure that he'll be the starting QB from here on out. At times he looked like he could be all-Big XII next year, other times he looked completely lost on the field. A big part of that would be the terrible OL play last year.

The staff has been pretty open about the fact that the QB spot will be up for grabs when spring practice gets cranked up. But I don't know if Gamso or Vizza will be in the mix. Ryan Tannehill will probably end up at WR again, but the coaches love his athleticism and will allow him to compete for QB. Tommy Dorman has all of the tools and is a specimen, but he has only been on campus for a year.

I think that JJ will emerge as the starter, but it's not at all cut and dry.

I know that Vizza has had some troubles with Dodge and Co. at UNT. Who knows, he may not really want to be in the mix for starting QB. He is surely not under any illusions that he is headed for the league and he may just want a fresh start and a chance to be part of a team somewhere.

Vizza was actually playing pretty well and is one tough SOB. But I wouldn't want to be competing with daddy's kid for the top slot.

I still think that Bo Levi Mitchell is going to be June's man for the Ponies.

Yea Vizza was playing pretty damn well.. Riley is the best I've ever seen at running the spread though, especially daddy's version of it... I mean damn, he lives with the architect of their playbook.

BLM is doing ok for now... Kyle will get in there and win that job within 2 years.

I don't know how much longer Dodge is for Denton. The wheels seem to have fallen off of that bus. He's got all kinds of players just walking out on him.....has 3 wins in two seasons. And the SunBelt isn't getting too much easier....they sent two teams to bowls and had two more bowl eligible. You gotta figure that if there isn't a major uptick next season the NT AD might decide just to stop the bleeding.

True... TD was never qualified to be a D1 college HC and UNT should have never hired him.. I've said that since he left Carroll.. He wasnt ready... He should have gone somewhere and been an OC first..maybe Tech or somewhere like it, that runs something near his version...Its one thing to be a HC in high school and completely a different world doing it in college..some high school HC's have what it takes, but TD does not.. A D! college is no place to be learning on the job... UNT needed a real college football coach and they should have known better.

I do wonder what happens to RD if pops is asked to move on.....I won't write TD's obit at UNT just yet, though. I do tend to agree with you.....both UNT and Dodge should have known better. I think both of them just got starry eyed from the publicity of SLC's incredible winning streak and the nation wide attention that it got. They wanted to make headlines and get tounges wagging across the state and they did. They just didn't do too much thinking on how it was all supposed to play out if it worked.

Jerrod Needs time....He was a upgrade to what A&M had with McGee, and with a year in the system and some valuable playing time under his belt...he will only get better. The emergence of those WR's is huge for A&M...find some linemen and you will be able to hang with some of the elite teams in the conference offensively.

JJ has the physical tools to be the best QB A&M has had to date...But he needs an Oline....

I agree. If Sherman can land 2010 top qb Connor Wood out of Houston Second Baptist then he will compete with Jerrod.

PS. Who calls him JJ?....everyone at A&M calls him Jerrod.

I do, because i could care less to refer to him by his birth name.

Anyways, I think its gonna be a good battle to see where Connor Wood ends up as UT and A&M are pushing for him hard (A&M moreso however) since we picked up Gilbert theres not a sense of urgency to get another top-flight QB unless of course Chiles or Sherrod transfers then we'd be screwed.

I'm just concerned however that since so many QB's are transferring to A&M as well as being recruited that Vizza would get lost in the shuffle when it comes time to compete for PT.

Yep, and he's graduating while Greg McElroy is becoming a starter next season at Bama. Riley will likely be the starter at North Texas and I say within 2 seasons Kyle will be the starter for the Pony's. Thats 4 in what will be a 6-7 year period. And it wont shock me in the least if one of the two at Carroll next season is a future college star... and there's a few pretty damn special ones coming up as well.
