Laredo Nixon 63-13
Copperas Cove 19-20
Pflugerville 22-13
Lee 48-0
Smithson Valley 7-21
Roosevelt 23-8
Churchill 0-14
Madison 14-23
Macarthur 21-0
Reagan 38-13
Seguin 21-0
O'Connor 30-28
HArlingen 37-15
Spring Westfield 17-14

10-4 is thr Rocket's record, but do not be confused. 95% of their staff is brand new. They have had up to 13 injured and out at the same time. Lost two starters for discipline reasons. They are healthy confident and playing good defense. Do not underestimate them, they will give you a good game.

HArlingen 37-15

.

I have been waiting on an opportunity to comment on this. I watched a Harlingen game on tv when I was down there earlier in the season. I know some East Texas 1A teams that could give them a run a for their money. I realize Judson has a tough schedule but playing them two games before state is rediculous.

The UIL can fix that. All they have to do is shuffle Region 4 so South Texas doesn't get to Round 3 without playing SA.

What can't be overlooked is Judson had to battle a bunch of injuries. They now have 13 starters back and our full of playmakers. This should be a good game on saturday.

I am inmpressed with the size and speed of some of Trinity's lineman. Especially the nose tackle. 6'4 and 240 with good speed. Saw where he brought down an RB a couple of times from behind on sweeps. ET players recover quickly on defense, but they do have some openings for RB's and the passing game could hurt ET.

I can't wait to hear the announcers on TV Saturday. They better have a languarge expert with them to prep them for pronounciation of ET's players' names.

You can be 13-1 or 10-4, but when you make THE DANCE, you deserve to be there.

If you haven't made plans on what game to goto, you should go to the Judson-Trinity game. But you better be there early because I don't think RR has a lot of seating.

My sister was at Judson in 88 and 90 when the went to state. My brother was a freshman in 93 when they won state, and was on the 94 Semi-Finalists team, the 95 State Champion team, and the 96 Finalist team. I was in 8th grade in 02, but my sister was a freshman. Judson has gone to state at least once with all of my siblings. Now its my turn.:)

And it should be a good one, 12 noon, high of 58, 30% chance of rain:D

I'm sorry if I missed this in an earlier thread......how did this game end up in RR. Wasn't there anything bigger between SA and the Metroplex. I know Floyd Casey wasn't available this weekend, but what about DKR??

They've never gone more than 5 years without going to the Finals in 5A. The only Judson classes in 5A to not see a title game are:

1980
1981
1982
1983
1988

I heard they don't want to. I think it's a joke that we can't play on their precious field. Let's all bow down to UT!

Guess you would say that westfield was a fluke.
What were they ranked......2
What is ET ranked?

The past 23 years at Judson have been good ones. Here is what they have accomplished.
21 Playoff appearances:
Finished Season at Bidistrict (2)-1997, 2000
Finished Season at Area (1)-1987
Finished Season at Regionals (1)-2001
Finished Season At Qtrs (3)- 1984, 1985, 1986
Finished Season in Semi's (5)- 1982, 1989, 1991, 1994, 2004
Finished as runner-up (2) 1990, 1998
State Champions (6) 1983, 1988, 1992, 1993, 1995, 2002

In the big game again this year. These are pretty impressive numbers over the last 23 years. I do not think anyone at any level can match this. This was all done at the 5A level. Can this be matched by anyone at any classification? the 80's, 90's, and 00's have been very good to the rockets.

* None of the Semi's or Championship games were played against the Valley.

I have a question for the Judson faithful. Could Judson beat SV right now?

bubbacoach

I think it would be a true battle. Judson had alot of kids out the first go round. Smithson Valley's Defense is still very, very good, and Judson's offense is still slightly above average. It would be a low scoring game and come down to special teams and who makes the fewest mistakes.

i think it's stupid personally. im sure they want to keep the field in shape. for what? that beats the heck out of me. id like to see a state championship game in a good stadium for once (north shore / woodlands was the last one i got to see, at Rice)

and to keep on topic, when judson stumbled i got a bit concerned, but I was glad to see them step up and beat Westfield.

Actually, that's a 24yr period. If you go back 5 yrs from there you can include the real beginning of the Judson dynasty. From 1977-1979 they had a 30-4-0 record while claiming 3 district championships. They struggled in the playoffs those years, only going 1-3, but that was their first exposure to the NE and NS schools. In 1980, they joined the NE schools and it took them 2 yrs to make the playoffs, going 13-7-0 in 80 & 81 combined. So really, Judson has been pretty dominate the last 29 yrs. Coincindently, that matches their consecutive winning seasons mark of 29, which is the longest current streak in the state, and 3rd highest overall after Plano's 36 and Odessa Permian's 32. Go Rockets!!
