Mission Veijo CA lost last week 24-12. So SLC should move up to #2 in the USA today poll. #1 Lakeland Fla. plays St. Thomas Aquinas (13-0) this week for the Florida State championship. In The Tony Poll, Lakeland is ranked #8 while St Thomas is ranked #10. They could get beat. SLC is #1 in every poll (Calpreps, IHigh, Prepnation, Student Sports, Tony Bianco) except USA Today. If and I say IF SLC is fortunate enough to win against Lufkin and then Katy/SV will could be looking at back to back mythical National Championships.

who cares? just the mere fact that you folks post about this mythical non-sense shows that it is important to you. National rankings for highschools are a joke. There is no validity in these "polls". What a joke. Win state and be happy with that on the field proven accomplishment and quit talking about national this or that -

Answer this honestly - If Judson was ranked #1 in the nation by USA Today you would not say one word about it?

I would laugh at it -- Judson has been ranked nationally before several times - they were even on Scholastic Sports America back in the day and it might be entertaining for the kids but for a grown man to post on this board the probability of them being ranked #1 in USA Today and support it with potential losses in Florida and a recent loss in California - teams that SLC will never play and there is no way to tell - for a grown man to entertain that Mythical idiotology is ridiculous - I bet you DragonsUncle even criticizes the BCS as a joke yet he supports a mythical national championship for highschool -

So then, SLC needs to get 2 or 3 of the top on schedule for next year to try and back it up.
I think SLC has a bigger chance to lose this week than Lakeland Fla.
The national title is only mythical to those that don't have one.

I think that the National title does not necessarily always go to the best team in the country. There is no way to tell which team is the best. What the title does go to though is the team that has had the best season. Yes it is an opinion and that opinion is probably slanted in order to sell newspapers, but if you think of it as a lifetime achievement award it will look a lot better to you.

ImPlac, Whoa, there big boy. I didn't say I supported anything. All I did was was list the polls big deal. Isn't this a woulda, coulda, shouda, board anyway. Thats all it was and all it is. Chill out. By the way I've seen numerous post from Judson fans claiming that they just beat the #2 team in the State and #5 team in the Nation. Not you, but others.

They are #1 in 5 of 7 polls. The USA today poll is not highly regarded.
Of course the national rankings are mythical and really don't mean much. However, it's great to recognized for having a champtionship team year after year after year. That's what you must to to be recognized nationally.

I now have two reasons to root for St. Thomas Aquinas: Southlake into first nationally (meaningless, but nice to get the spotlight) and two future Irish commits anchoring the St. Thomas Aquinas o-line.
Plus I have an ex-girlfriend who went to Lakeland and we're not on good terms.
Talk about a football trifecta.
Oh and for trivia sake, I live about 5 miles from Mission Viejo high school. Not much love for them, they stole Mark Sanchez (USC freshman, and #1 recruit last year) from my sister's high school because they promised him more playing time.

National rankings, huh??? Lufkin is ranked nationally to but until we play everyone ranked the top in their states we cannot claim a national championship. SLC will have to bring their A game to beat Lufkin. We in Lufkin get the opportunity thanks to a production company here to see Lufkin games all day. The more I watch, the less I am concerened about having the starting qb out. He no doubt is a great athlete, but what is more impressive is he is a team player. He was on the sideline cheering on his teamates during the rest of the game friday night. What class and character-SLC is doomed-sometimes something like an injury can be what you need to get everyone together. SLC fans welcome to Abe Martin North. I'm sorry some of your fans will have to stay home!!

'If' you beat Lufkin and go to D2 finals - the 4 appearances in 4 years of being 5A team is quite an accomplishment - win or loss.
Now - to see if GV can get into a different district so our guys feel they have a shot at something - bi-district would be a good win next year to get things started...

of course state titles matter - as in the 5 (6*) sitting down at Judson and now going into their 10 title game in 5A with no more than 5 years between title game appearances since 5a. Yes of course that matters. It is real and it is determined on-field.

actually the last poll I saw had you and I tied and I lost to you in a battle of "stupidity" so you took the lead. With the loss I fell off a few points and now I am down there somewhere with DragonsDaddy because I can drop nickel words every now and again with the dentist and Thug because of my sense of humor.

I agree that Mythical Nat'l Champs is very subjective and hard to quantify.
However if SLC and Trinity were to both win state in D1 and D2 I think it would be great for them to square off in a non-UIL sanctoned exhibition game to find out who is the best and settle it once and for all.
It will never happen but it would have been a great game!
