Now that I have your attention please feel free to tell us why Judson won't win. I mean we only beat the number 5 team in the country last week. Here are some things that I think the non believer will say and some facts to counter those comments.

1. Size - I have already seen comments on here about how Trinity will be bigger and taller then Judson. But what do you think Westfield was? A bunch of dwarfs? I am sure they were probably just as big if not bigger the Trinity so lets just throw that out the window. Contrary to what people believe Judson isn't as small as you think.

2. Speed - I believe we have played the fastest team we will see this year in Westfield. I can't imagine that Trinity is that much faster but I am sure you Dallas area people will of course say other wise. The real question should be how will they counter our team speed.

3. Quality opponents - There is an abundance of talent and great football teams in the Dallas Metroplex. Alot more then San Antonio could ever dream of. But I am a firm believer in quality over quantity. Smithson Valley is still alive. And Copperas Cove, Madison and Pflugerville had nice runs in the playoffs.

So feel free to tell us why Judson won't win. Afterall we heard this all last week. Why should this week be any different? Trinity can keep their haka. We Believe in Rocket Pride !!!!!!!!!!

Last time I checked Lufkin beat CCove, but point is taken. If Judson can shut down the best running game in Texas - they win - period.

Please stop with the threads about Judson. 1 is enough, stop making us look bad.

I am not or will not predict victory but like I've been saying stop this offense and you stop us. SGP and IMAC had the best D we've seen and they couldn't stop it even though SGP got us. Still waiting on Judson's web site so I can see what is suppose to cause us fear.:D

Not you nor anyone else can say that Judson will win or ET will win. That is why the game is played every week. We will all know Saturday afternoon. Speculation is just that a guess. Throw out all the facts because this is the
Championship...anything can happen. It is really a no brainer not to respond with an "this is why we will win" answer. NO ONE knows. Waiting for Saturday ...it will be a great game.

Westfield got over 400 yards/game this year and was held to a little over 100. They gave up like 190 yards and maybe 70/game on the ground this year, but Judson got 200. Everybody said Judson couldn't run on SW. Through 10 games:

Judson pass defense 111 yards/game
Judson run defense 113 yards/game

They've had better games than that in the playoffs. The big caveat is that Judson's bad offense made their defense play more and subsequently give up more yards. These guys are GOOD!

Football: Judson earns revenge on Spring Westfield

Express-News Staff Writer

Judson defensive back Donovan Travis, seconds removed from the most memorable interception of his career, pointed to the home bleachers at Farris Stadium — rattling in celebratory unison — and exorcised 48 minutes worth of pressure with one deafening yell.

"Nobody thought we could do it, but we knew," said Travis, gasping for breath, tears of joy welling in his eyes after the Rockets defeated Spring Westfield 17-14 on Saturday in the Class 5A Division I state semifinals. "This was Judson football."

Thanks in part to Travis' interception of Austin Shaw's pass at the Rockets' 35 with just over a minute to play, Judson won its sixth-straight game and will vie for its seventh state championship.

The Rockets (10-4) face Euless Trinity next Saturday at Round Rock I.S.D. Stadium in the 5A Division I state title game. Euless Trinity (13-1) defeated A&M Consolidated on Saturday in the other state semifinal.

Fresh off an upset of second-ranked Westfield, which eliminated Judson from last season's state semifinals, coach Jim Rackley and his Judson ballclub are prepared to play the underdog role one more time.

"We told our players, every play, have every gap filled and run through it" Rackley said, clapping his hands to accentuate the point. "Our defense played extremely well."

Before 4,894 fans, most of whom were clad in Judson's silver-and-red colors, the Rockets held Westfield to 74 yards rushing and 39 passing. Judson also had three interceptions, knocked Westfield quarterback Pierre Beasley out of the game early in the second quarter and recovered a fumble.

That recovery came courtesy of defensive back Roisean Haynes, who scooped up Terrance Sweeney's fumble, eluded a potential tackler and sprinted 55 yards to the end zone. Following Austin Quinney's extra point with just over 10 minutes remaining, Judson led 17-14.

"That was the play," Rackley said of Haynes' TD. "That was the big one."

But it wasn't the only one.

One play after Beasley left the game with an injured left ankle, Judson's Jonathan Adair intercepted Shaw, the backup. Late in the fourth, with Westfield at the Rockets' 30 but facing a fourth-and-seven, Tony Harp intercepted Shaw with less than three minutes remaining.

Aside from a 20-yard TD pass to DeMarcus Conner in the second, Shaw — who entered Saturday with only six pass attempts all season — completed just 1 of 11 for 19 yards. Beasley, with 26 TDs this season, spend the second half on crutches and was expected to undergo X-rays when the Mustangs arrived home.

"He's a lot of their offense, running and passing," Rackley said of Beasley. "Their backup was a good player, but he was nothing like Beasley."

While the Rockets' defense stifled a high-powered offense, their offense made just enough plays to secure victory. Thanks to Quinney's 26-yard field goal and an 8-yard TD pass from Carl Bouldin to Derrick Williams, Judson led 10-0 after one quarter.

Three quarters later, the Rockets had pulled off the upset.

And extracted revenge.

"Everyone doubted us," Bouldin said. "They said we couldn't beat them. But guess what?

"We're on top now."

You guys keep saying Beasley is just one guy! Read your own coaches words and look at our backups stats. That should quite the 'we beat a great Westfield team' stuff, you barely saw Westfield's offense.

If Trinity is healthy...look out! As for size, I think Westfield biggest lineman is 298 while all of Trinity is well over 300. Westfield was small compared to these guys!

I say the bigger the better. The bigger they are the easier it will be to run right past them once the ball comes of the ground im sure judson's DL worked on their fast twitch muscles during off-season and probly still work on them

I agree with the adage that you can't block what you can't hit.

Trinity fans keep being patient to saturday. By the way as a representative of Trinity I'm going to say, we have a ton of respect for how good u are, especially the Trinity football team. Not long after the A&M game, and right after u guys had won the attention turned immediately to u guys. The history of ur program and the feat u guys had pulled off. Coach Lineweaver immediately disregarded the 6-4 record in the regular season, and focused the boys on ur 4-0 record in the postseason, and the fact the u guys are finally playing with 13 starters back. The Trojan football team was commited to the fact that this will be their best week of practice ever for our toughest ball game of the year.

I really respect what you guys have done and Lineweaver's success. I do think Judson is a terrible matchup for Trinity, though. The Rockets will come ready to play.
