A summer time hobby for you guys in the countdown to the season..
This district is probably the most dominating and most underappreciated district in the state in all classifications. Not only did this district match the accomplishments of the East Texas 4A district, they ended up with a three way tie for the district title. One team ending up as the state champion, another running into a district foe in the state quarterfinals and the other losing in the state semifinals.
what district am i referring to?
*******
next person that answers it correctly posts a new trivia question up and down the line.

That would be district 4-3A. Abilene Wylie, Sweetwater and Snyder all finished tied for first. Sweetwater and Snyder met in the Q-finals losing to Snyder by 1 point. Abilene Wylie went on to win the state championship in a thrilling game against Cuero.

Next question (it's kinda weak)...
Which former 5A player holds the NFL record for rushing yards by and undrafted rookie?
wide-e-wide
06-10-2005, 02:31 AM
Undrafted?
Dang...I guess I've had too many Miller Lites tonight...
I'm drawing a blank...
Can't be Bam Morris he wasn't 5a...
It's gonna be really easy and I'm gonna look like a dumb@...
The undrafted part is what is getting me.

What program was the 1st to ever win a state championship in both the Division 1 bracket and the Division 2 bracket?
I think that was Lewisville. Div. II in '93 and Div. I in '96. it was later repeated by Midland Lee and Katy at pretty much the same time.

I think it works pretty much how you want just so long as we keep getting questions.
I have one for you to ponder...
Which 5A football legend and current NFL jaw dropper had small role as a Midland Lee coach in the film version of "Friday Night Lights"?

Plano and Lewisville?

Plano was the 1st school to ever go in there and get a victory, accomplishing that feat in 1987 and repeating it in 1994, the other team is Red and Gold

Lubbock Coronado (as bizarre as that sounds)
Lubbock Coronado actually owns 2 post season Ws against Permian thanks to a forfeit one year.
What El Paso team gave up 81 points to the Abilene Cooper Cougars in a playoff game?

Only name that comes to my mind would be a Kendal Briles, does not seem right since at stphenville alone he probably had at least 4500 in one season, but I know he started at QB for only 2, and played defense as well.

The guy I'm talking about was highly recruited for football, but ended up getting drafted and playing a few years in the Anaheim Angels organization. He is now back to football and will play this fall for the college he originally commited to coming out of high school.

They got run ruiled if I remember correctly. Duncanville had a pitcher the name escapes me who went on to UT, he was a dang good pitcher but Bellaire made him look like a freaking pitching machine set at 65 mph. Brain Boddicker was a junior that year for the Duncanville basketball team and he was pretty salty himself.

I know that Paris won in football in 88 and won in baseball in 89. Have anyh other schools done that in 4A or come close to the triple crown?

David Nied graduated in 1987, Todd Ritchie in 1990. So, it was either a young Ritchie or someone else.

That is exactly who I was thinking of. Thank you sir. Yes I remember him being a huge part of the staff for UT when they went to the CWS.
Any idea of the kid from Nolan I am thinking of? He was around the same year and he might have eventually transferred out of UT

You can say that again. What's scary is as good as they are around here I think Houston has a leg up on us. The private school teams around here are outstanding too. Dallas Christian at one time had the best baseball program in the entire area, same could be said about Trinity Christian Addison. I firmly do believe that too.. Dallas Christian had a team tha went 34-0 back in 2001 and those just weren't wins against other private schools. They beat the heck out of some dang good public schools including the number 1 ranked team in the 4A or 5A area rankings.
