Bullrock:
I just have a few points to make and I will probably pi$$ some people off. The Rockets are dead. Let me ask the Rocket faithful these questions. How many times did Rocket football lose to the New braunfels defense? How many games have we lost the the Madison offense? Well, that' who we are now! I wasn't impressed at all. Where was the spark? The running to the line and snapping the ball with 18 seconds left on the play clock? Where was that fire on defense? The jumping around, congratulating your teammate with a slap on the shoulder that would take most of us to our knees? Folks, think about it and really be honest with yourselves. We had as much enthusiaism as the Southwest Dragons! By the way, that's the only other team Rackley has coached. No, I truly believe Rocket football is dead as we know it or it has been relocated to Wagner.
TexasRed6x:
Judson is done period end of story. The offense is horrible and not only did they get shut out they only had about 5 first downs in the game. I do not see them winning anymore games this year, and by the way Bullrock was right with his statements earlier in the year when he said "Judson is dead". At this point all the coaches need to be removed and start from scratch, they did not have a clue in tyhe whole game and that is being totally honest. Judson will finish 4-6 count on it. If I were a Judson fan I would start looking forward to Wagner games next year, because from what I say tonight next year does not look good either.
I hope neither of you comes to see the Rockets next Saturday. Stay home and display your "Wag Pride" because you've got no "Rocket Pride."

Those guys have been Judson supporters for over 50 and maybe 60 years. Don't tell them to not go because they deserve to go just as much as the next guy. Bullrock started believing again. 6X wanted to believe all year and just couldn't do it. He might believe now.

lonny, you always believed. "Rocket Pride" is about believing when things don't look good. At the very least, it is NOT about going around bad-mouthing the team and jumping ship.
They are welcome to go next Saturday, and I hope they are true believers now. But it just makes me mad there were a lot of players who came on this board and saw their supposed fans abandoning them -- kicking them when they were down.

those guys should have stood by their team when they were doing the best they could with new offensive and defensive systems, eleven starters out due to injuries, and two starters kicked off the team for discipline problems. instead, they jumped ship.

It works both ways sometimes. Sometimes you get mad and want to prove people wrong.
As far as the players go, I know some of them come on here and that's why I wanted to support them as much as I could. I complained about Mangold some and even said in one post that they were wasting a potential title year, but I reached the point before the Madison game, where I said, it's time to circle the wagons and support the Rockets. I'm going to look for that thread.

I did not jumped ship just spoke what I thought was the truth, and at times we can all be wrong. I have been a season ticket holder for over 30 years, and have only misssed 2 to 3 games in that span. I want to clearify that I will always be a Rocket, period ennd of story , but I do not like losing , that again is just in my blood and yes Judson football has not helped in that area. If I should eat crow, thats OK , but in the end I also had a plan, and that was for folks in Houston to read my threads and get over confident, and maybe that worked as well.

You have 15 posts. Where have you been all season? Why did you just now join? You can't attack Bull and 6x for not beleiving. What they said was the truth. The offense was GARBAGE and there was NO fire on defense. Judson WOULD have ended up 4-6 had they not stepped it up, had Rackley not worked so hard to change things back for the better.

I spoke with no forked tongue. They played exactly the way I described. I didn't really jump ship as you said, but I can tell you this, the liferaft was already in the water. I will support Wagner next year. That doesn't mean I'll give up my spot at the Judson games though. I bet I'll be in RR before you this week. Shame on you! Digging up old garbage like that. Why are you supporting Wagner? Is it because more of the coaches you liked are now over there? I'll think it's cool if Wagner does well, but it's just not like the Diamond J for me.

i just don't think a real fan should kick the team when they're down. rocket pride is about not giving up and i think those two guys gave up and were ready to go jump on the wagner bandwagon.
look, if they take back what they said i've got no problems. it just got to me.
by the way, there aren't too many victories in wagner's near future.:(

it's quite alright to criticize your team when its doing poorly, thats what sports is all about. we've all said some things that may be negative but in the end we know where our heart is and continue either supporting or scorning based on the teams level of play on the field. when a team is playing with absolutely no heart and effort it is VERY noticable and they SHOULD get called out on it so they can realize their ways and change them, like when a coach gets on a player for not hustling, he may be yellin his *** off but he still loves the player and wants them to succeed. getting yelled at and criticized isn't fun ( trust me i know) but it makes you want to go out and perform that much harder to win approval. JUDSON has answered the call and will be playing for the 'ship no matter what anyone may or may-not have said.

Just FWIW, Lonny fired the Rockets. He can't come off as Mr. Sunshine here. :)

The only reason they built wagner was because they ran out room in their trophy case. They had to build an entire school to hold all the hardware.

Sure I can. The firings were always done with getting to the semis in mind. I didn't fire them until I did because I always felt like they could get to the semis. When it looked like a mathematical longshot for them to make the playoffs, I fired them. I still thought they would win the last 2 games of the regular season.

Great comeback!! Very original. Yes we lost but we lost to the best team in the country and it was a hell of game. Plano makes 1 more play they win. At least Plano had a 16,000 of their faithful turnout for the big game. Which at Last count was 4 times than what Judson had playing a similar team in a semifinal game.
Bandwagon is a little empty! Must be all those Wagnor fans staying away.

I don't blame anyone for being discouraged midway through the season. I posted some strong opinions myself. They were directed mainly at the coaching staff. I still don't have a whole lot of confidence in the OC, but the offense has gotten a little better. I think coach Rackley was wise in returning to traditional Rocket football. Rocket Pride is alive and well in my opinion. I see Judson fans like a family, they can criticise their team, but no one else better or the whole family will be after you. Go Rockets!!

There is a lot of truth to what you say about the fans being a family. I'm not going to kick the guys right now for doubting. I think a lot of it was done just to make the team mad and get them in gear.
Here's the deal. Judson fans are not used to losing. They've seen a LOT better than what we saw most of the year and we were mad. We don't settle for losing and demand excellence. Winning a few playoff games or making the playoffs is room for excitement in many places. Around Converse, you get trashed for not contending for state. That comes with all the success we've had in 5A. It's probably unrealistic to always expect to play in December, but you expect it when it happens 75% of the time. You get mad when you don't make deep runs in the playoffs. Judson has played around 260 games in the last 20 years and that means they average 13 a year. They average 3 playoff games a year and made deeper runs in 14 of the 20 years.

Those guys were just speaking what they saw. They were realist. At the time this was not feasable. Does it make them any less of a fan than you because they see things for what they are? The rockets were playing crappy. I am sure as true fans it hurt them to write that and they are glad they were wrong.

Winagain,
Some of these guys have been supporting the Rockets for a quarter century or more. This year starts and we see a product on the field that was anything but Rocket Football. Even when all of the players were healthy at the beginning of the year, there was no urgency on the offensive side of the ball and the defense did not display the enthusiasm they have now. Luckily Rackley reverted back to what we as fans were used to seeing over the past 25-30 years. The I-Formation, hustle in and out of the huddle, RUNNING the football, etc. What we see now is Rocket Football and I am glad it is back and hopefully here to stay.
I guess what I am saying is maybe the reason some fans jumped off of the bandwagon is , it was not the same wagon they rode for the last 3 decades!

i think it was inevitable that the rockets would go through some growing pains w/ new coordinators on both sides of the ball (and a lot of other new coaches as well). I just wish there had been more confidence that the kids would stick w/ it and that rackley would get things going again. rackley's been at judson since 1980, minus 5 years (88-92) when he went to southwest and took them to the play-offs in what is now 27-5A (read eingkeid's site--he talks about it).
by the way, the offense has not gone back to the plays they ran for the last 10-20 years. they are running the shotgun (the shotgun zone-read w/ bouldin keeping it is their best play right now), running some different long pass plays w/ #9 and #1 (who just need to catch the ball!), and they are even incorporating some quick, short passes into their game every now and then. they didn't used to do any of that.
look, i'm glad the team is playing well, and I'm glad everyone is excited about Saturday, and I know we all will cheer the rockets on to victory.
I take back what I said . . . I just hope next time (and there's always a next time) people will be a little more patient. judson lost a lot of coaches to wagner, but they kept a great one in rackley and he obviously made a heck of a good hire in rhoades--the defense is playing better than they have in a long time. Even in Rutledge's last few years, there were some real cracks showing in the judson defensive scheme. remember the westlake playoff game in 2000? Of course, the wheels came off a few years ago against madison. But now the defense is rockin' and rollin'. Also, I think mangold will end up doing well also.
bottom line . . . the players had to gain confidence in the new coaches, and now they have. As bullrock would say, now they're playing "rocket ball" again.
by the way, planoboy, the bandwagon is plenty full. Who did you say y'all are playing this week? ;)

Plano is just calling out that they had 16k at their game and the SA Express News reported there was less than 5k TOTAL at the Judson/Westfield game. It is a problem with either how attendance is figured around these parts or with the newspaper itself. I have seen Judson's stadium packed a few times, but have never seen the paper report the number to be over 6-7K - in a stadium that seats over 10k. I think it is due to us counting only paid attendants (no band, drill, athletes, etc) and other areas using an estimater looking at the entire stands?

winagain, that last post was very accurate. In defense, judson fans as are most, are used to winning and expected great things this year with the defense and the o-line basically intact. Unfortunately, in today's society, we want instant gratification. Injuries, senior laden team, new blocking schemes, new coaches, etc.. all combined to bring about hostility in fans. Nobody likes change from comfort. With the late season success, I believe as a SV fan said last year, the boys have grasped the change and are running with it all the way to THE DANCE. Next year will be easier for everydody with the success of this year. Buying into the system has been rough, but, now, worth the ride. Good luck to the players and the coaching staff at THE DANCE.
