OK, so I am totally on board with the right to file a lawsuit and recieve compensation if a loved one is wrongly killed by the police. It's clear that's what happened, as the police chief has admitted that the officer here shot and killed an innocent bystander who was standing in his own front yard. But why the hell do they want a statue at Disneyland?

You gotta be kidding me.
A freaking statue? What the hell? I can just imagine a little kid walking through Disneyland and asking who the statue is supposed to be.
"We believe that Anaheim is a company town, and that Disneyland plays a serious role in the community," Herman said. "For Julian's parents, this isn't about the money, it's about honoring a man who didn't deserve to die and preventing it from ever happening again."
I dont get the request for Disney to place a statue of the young man there. As the spokesperson said.. They weren't involved in the process at all. I guess it's fine if you want to make the request, (I dont see what the point of it is) but you have to understand if they say no.
And they said it's about honoring a man who didn't deserve to die and to prevent it from happening again.. Well then, make the request to the city to place a statue or memorial at the police station.. or a city park. That would make more since than at Disney.

I am....speechless.....
So very sorry for this family and I hope their lawsuit is highly successful, but the Disney connection seems a bit bizzare to me. Perhaps it is just a comfort request by the mother. Something that would make her son important beyond the boundaries of their family and neighborhood. Still, makes no sense as it would convey a message that Disneyland was somehow involved in the death of this young man.
