I dont think you want to look at Mizzou as any kind of Big 12 defensive model.. That would be like looking at LSU as a offensive model....
See what I did there?

It was a clean fumble, but a stupid offsides penalty on Mizzou gave the ball back to NW. The Mizzou backer literally lined up on the other side of the line of scrimmage.

Every QB looks like a Heisman candidate against those big 12 defenses. The Northwestern QB had his best game of his life. Throwing for 300+ yards.
Mizzou has the 7th ranked Pass-Eff. Defense in the BXII! Northwestern comes in with the 27th ranked Pass-Eff. Defense in the Nation.
Pass Efficiency Defense
OU - 41st
Texas - 59th
Texas Tech - 66th
Kansas - 70th
Colorado - 73rd
Oklahoma State - 75th
Mizzou - 80th
Baylor - 87th
Nebraska - 89th
KSU - 92nd
A&M - 107th
ISU - 117th
I don't care if you're the back-up on a 3A THSFB team... if your regular season ends on Nov. 22 and you have 1 month and 7 days to prepare for the 80th ranked Pass-Eff. Defense, there's a pretty good chance you're going to see success. Mizzou finished their season on Dec. 6th... two weeks after NW. And Bacher is arguably the 2nd or 3rd best passing QB in the Big Ten (Some would argue he's the best pure passer of all the current Big Ten QB's... which aint sayin' a whole lot!).
All of this said...
Mizzou has a solid defense that could do very well vs about 85-90% of FBS schools.

He fits the Drew Brees mold. Chase might even have more mobility than Drew.

It will be difficult for him to play in the NFL..The linemen arent any shorter there.. And nobody runs the spread where the linemen have 1yd splits between them, to open passing lanes for him. I know it worked out real well for Brees and Flute, but they are 2 QB's of the thousands that have come through the NFL.. He may be able to be a solid backup though. First he will have to get serious consideration from any of the teams. I'm fairly sure he wont be drafted, so that will leave him signing as a free agent. He will likely be invited to camp for someone and maybe even making the scout team/practice squad.. From there anything could happen, but again I'm not sure he would be a starting QB.
Chase would make an outstanding coach for any level if he wanted to. He may be more geared toward business though.

This. A fat rebel w/o a cause. He's short, he's a system QB (HS/Coll) and he doesn't seem to read the 3rd level well enough to be an effective disperser of the ball. Plus, he's played down a step, from last year.
Word is there's NFL teams interested in seeing him in a pro-typical setting, but (IMO) his potential may be legendary only in Canada.

Chase will go down as one of the better college QBs and probably the best QB in Mizzou history and that is a lot to be proud of. He has virtually no shot at the NFL though. He just doesn't make NFL throws. I was taken aback last night by how poor his arm is. The velocity is weak and that led to a couple of his INTs. He doesn't read defenses well and if you watch him carefully, his accuracy plummets once he gets past his first two reads. The fact that he will measure 5'11 will hurt him, but the reality is that he just doesn't have the physical tools to play in the NFL. Daniel is the next Drew Tate or Chris Leak.

Your point is well taken and I probably agree with you. But none of us can measure what is between our ears or the size our our hearts. That will be something for Chase to demonstrate if he gets the opportunity at the next level. After watching him for the last seven years, I would not rule anything out. The young man is a special person and will be successful whichever direction he chooses.
As someone who grew up in St. Louis watching Missouri football, I waited almost 50 years for the Tigers to have a chance at winning a national championship. We had great hopes for this being the season after such a great year last year. It was a joy to call my Nebraska fans and tell them that I had waited 30 years for the lopsided win over the Cornhuskers.
Gary Pinkle also got a contract extension and large raise this year. He was a .500 coach at Missouri prior to Chase. Coach Pinkle was not very far away from being fired before Chase took over.
Quarterbacks and Head Coaches get way too much credit when thing go well and too much blame when things do not go well. I am very biased, but Chase took Missouri to a new level where they had not been for almost 50 years.
Thank you to Chase for giving this old guy seven years of Dragon magic and taking the Tigers to new levels.

Umm... they have the 37th best rush defense in the Nation. They have a rush defense that would be ranked 3rd in the Pac-10, 5th in the BXII and 6th in SEC. DE-Sulak, DT-Hood, S-Moore and LB-Weatherspoon will all be playing (and likely starting) in the NFL on Sundays. They struggled w/ OU, Texas, Oklahoma State, Kansas and Northwestern. All Top 25 teams (3 are Top 15), IMO!
No, it's not a joke.
They have the 37th rush defense, because teams decide to throw the ball on them. Kansas is not a top 25 team in the country. Oklahoma State is somewhere in the 15-20 range.
didn't okie lite prove they were middle of the pack by accepting a bid to the holiday bowl?
btw, i think texas' decimation as of late of the pac-10 reeeeeally leaves little room for any pro-wack10 talk here.
anyone remember "RUUUUUUUUUUUUUDY RUUUUUUUUUUUUDY RUUUUUUUUUUUDY"
and didn't tcehlahoma thump cal after they whined about not being invited to the rose bowl in 05? back when the wack10 was "respectable"?

Surely, all the talk he's referring to is you thinking Okie Lite was great after the close game in Austin. It surely can't be after:
Tech 39 UT 33
Tech 56 OSU 20
OU 61 OSU 41

i didn't think they were great, but i thought they were going to be tougher.
imo, that texas loss really deflated the team. it's hard to run through texas, tceh, and zerou with a loss after the first game.
would you say okie lite was better or worse then mizzou (since zerou proved head to head doesn't count)
