Tied up in the first. NIU had a long drive for a TD and then LTU returned the kick for a TD. Good game so far.

Wow....no offense, really, but my memories of the Independence Bowl in my youth, back in the 70's and early 80's, makes me think the IB has really sunk down, competiton and respect wise, if that's the two teams playing.

Last 3 been pretty decent...I agree though this year's match up not really appealing....
December 30, 2005 Missouri 38 South Carolina 31
December 28, 2006 Oklahoma State 34 Alabama 31
December 30, 2007 Alabama 30 Colorado 24

when did the Poulan Weedwacker Sanford Sharpie Bowl stop inviting Big XII teams?
Shreveport ain't the worst location for a Bowl game.
i'm sure the casinos and the night club district will be hoppin tonight.

It barely edged out Detroit for the "not the worst location" title.

It was good to see the clock operators running extra time off the clock late in the game to help LT. You can always count on an uneven playing field in Lousyanna against a local team. It's usually the refs.
For the record, I'm not being a sore loser because I picked Tech to win.

Besides the Indy Bowl, it has also been the home to a WFL team and a CFL team. I think most of the expansion in recent years has been an attempt to increase the prestige of the bowl and move up in the pecking order.

i'm sure the casinos and the night club district will be hoppin tonight. When there are 2 BCS teams and the Big 12 only has 7 bowl eligible teams. Colorado wouldn't have gone last year if it wasn't for Tech gift-wrapping a game for them. This is the 2nd year in a row that the Texas Bowl didn't get a Big 12 team.

I was never kicked out and I'll be visiting there once again in a few days. I was glad to move back in 1985, though.

1. I agree that people should live where their heart is.
2. Most people don't get out enough to know something else might be better.
3. The grass isn't always greener.
4. I lived in N.O. for 3 years and I would've wanted to look for something better even if I had lived there my whole life.
5. Coming to N.O. from Texas, I KNEW I had it better before.

Did develop quite the taste for crawfish and seafood.
Missed my Tex Mex food really badly though.
