The mighty Tongan American Airlines connection proved mightier than I had thought. These guys are like huge refrigerators with heads on them. I never said this publically, but I really thought today's heat would wear them down and it did not. They reminded me a bit of icebergs. When they were coming through, they were coming through. To me it was just a lesson in physics. Too much mass.

But, with all the massive weights, there had to be some skill position players to do their thing and Trinity had them.

The game was really close at the half, 7-3. Both teams had turned the ball over to each other, but the defenses were holding. Trinity coaches made some good halftime adjustments and they came out and moved the ball on us. I thought that having the wind in the 4th would give us a chance, but our guys got out-muscled.

Szymanski kicks a 61 yard FG. Longest I've ever seen live. Incredible.

We lost to a better team today. No excuses from this very proud Tiger Dad. Our guys had one helluva season. I couldn't be prouder of them. I'm lucky as my son is a sophomore, so he's got 2 more years. I feel sorry for our seniors as this is a tough way to close out their careers. But, being Region 2 Champs for 2005 is one heck of a lot better than missing the playoffs like we did last year. Nice turn-around guys!

Looks like a Trinity Judson matchup. I look forward to seeing that game. Without having seen Judson play this year, I'd still put my money on the Trinity boys.

What a great season to make it to the Final Four. Next year, with all our returning starters, I'm looking forward to another run. Tigers: Reloaded!

Thanks to the AMC Dad for showing everyone what an adult should act like. The game was great and both teams should hold their heads high and be proud of themselves. This games shows you how true sportsmen should act.

Thanks goes to both teams for their superior sportsmenship

Can't wait to face Converse Judson next week!

Thanks AMC Dad. Today's game was a lot better than the score indicated. The Tigers are a great squad and had a tremendous season. Congrats to AMC!!!

I'll second that! It was an awesome sight to looks across at the Consolidated crowd and see all that maroon. Good luck to AMC next year!

Ditto there ACM. You folks have a first class group of scrappers there. That kicker ought to be kicking for the Cowboys!! I've been around football 40 years and never seen a 61 yarder in person at least. That wind was a plus, but I was glad I was there to see that kick. The rest of my Trinity folks I know would vouch for this?? Really showed the class at the end of the game when alot of your spectators stayed to watch the HAKA. Congrats on a very good season and come watch us paly Judson if you can.:D :D :D

Congrats to Trinity.

Everybody deserves the chance to lose to Judson!:D Wait, you did in 1992!:p

Seriously, I'm proud of you guys and have watched your progress all year!:)

I want to give a shout out to the A&M Consolidated bunch, too. You just completed your best year in 5A!:)

I was actually a little worried about this one at the beginning. Our Haka wasn't up to par compared to other Hakas. There was some fire missing in it. It was like this when we lost to SGP.
Our guys started off slow. Sorry to spoil the good feelings here, but it wasn't too cool when the Consolidated fans were booing when our school song was playing at the beginning. It was not all the fans, but I have never heard this at a game before. It also wasn't cool when some Consolidated fans cheered when #47 on our team was injured. Only time I've seen this is from Philadelphia Eagles fans. Coach Lineweaver said something at halftime, because we came out the second half much more focused. I think out of all the teams we played this year, the Consolidated team was one of the best fundamentally. Great tackling and hitting skills. That is the best way to play a team as big as ours. I thought what went wrong with Consolidated was the alternating Quarterbacks. I know Mack Brown did it, but I've never been a fan of it. Does consolidated normally look at the play book on their wristband between each play? I didn't get this. However, even though the players looked confused on offense, I thought they executed pretty decent.
Your running back #24 (His last name is Gay,) is an excellent runner. Also, #18 your cornerback was excellent. He was especially a great tackler. He tackled our running backs, better than anyone I've seen all season. Like I said, sorry to spoil some good feelings on here, but I felt those behaviors shouldn't go unchecked.

Congrats to the Euless Trinity Trojans, we lost to a better team today and in my opinion the next Division 1 State Champion.
And ET players you showed the class of a champion today as well.

And "feel the Haka" nobody cheered when #47 went down with injury, what you did'nt see was our starting QB on the ground at the same time #47 was down and everbody cheered when he made it up off the ground and came to the sideline. Our QB was hurt too and even though he was eventually okay to go back in later he never got to.

Good luck and take care of business with Judson next week!

As soon as some of the students started to boo (I was right there on the sidelines), the cheerleader faculty adviser was right there and put a very quick stop to it. It was just a few seconds She beat me to the punch.

Also, to the guy earlier, I don't think our crowd was sitting around waiting for your Haka. I still think it's pretty goofy, but all power to you. If it pumps you guys up, great. Maybe the fans were just waiting around to show some love to their team? Yep.

We had an awesome bbq get together at the golfcourse pavilion next door afterwards with the guys. It's unfortunate that the season is over, but it's been a great year. Congrats to the Trojans.

No question, AMC played hard but as AMC dad put it, the Tongan Warriors were to much. Nance, Handy and Vittatoe once again showed why they are the best backfield in the state - close to 6,000 yards of total offense and counting. Having said that though major props to Consolidated because holding Trinity to 28 points in record heat is unfathomable. I think 28 is about as good as anyone can do with that group.

You know PonyExpress, I think you were right now that I think about it.
I, and some of our fans became a little reactionary after the school song thing. That is true, your quarterback was also down; and did get back up.
This makes sense. Sorry for the post. Also, We usually (Every game I've been to) never do the Haka to the entire stadium. Normally, our players face our fans, and do it towards them. I think that when our players came out of the locker room, they didn't seem fired up as normal; and we started chanting, "Haka, Haka." We were trying to fire up the team. Can someone though please explain Consolidated's players (and I mean all of the players) looking at their playbook cheatsheets between every play? I will say, that if you guys keep up the fundamentals with the tackling and hitting, you will easily go to the playoffs, if not state next year. That is my prediction now!

ACM Dad,
I think your son should be as proud of his dad as you are of him. He will be just fine in life because you are setting a great example for him, Dad.

Cheerleading Faculty Advisor,
I noticed the booing too. I also noticed it stopped almost immediately. A few of our kids have done stunts just the same and we try to handle it the way you did. Thank you. Stuff always happens around teenagers

ACM Team,
You played with heart and have a lot to be proud of. Someone had to win the game. I guess it was our turn this year. We had a bitter defeat during the semi-finals last year.

Good year for you? YES? You have a great program working FOR YOU. If we can be as good next year, I suspect we will be seeing you again. Best wishes for next season!

Can someone though please explain Consolidated's players (and I mean all of the players) looking at their playbook cheatsheets between every play?

It is supposed to be our version of the no-huddle. It has allowed us to normally get off several extra plays per game. The coaches signal in the plays. Sometimes this takes as long as a normal huddle takes. I actually like it. They normally revert to a normal huddle when inside the 10 on either end of the field. There has been some debate within the fans in the stands on whether or not you sacrifice the leadership of the QB by not huddling. I think it would be more effective if run a bit more quickly. But, I'm one that likes it.

Thanks, I guess. I"m just trying to do my best. My son was blessed enough to be on Varsity this year as the only sophomore. He got to go on this wild ride. He got extensive playing time in 8 regular season games, starting many of them for one injured guard or the other (both had bad ankles this year). Not much PT in the playoffs, but as the O-line had really gelled, putting him in didn't make sense. If it ain't broke, don't fix it kind of thing I guess. I venture to guess he had more impact on his team than any other sophomore in 13-5A. But, I could be wrong.

Like I said, I feel for the seniors as many of them just played their last football game today. Most of us here remember that day vividly. But, it's just a game at the end of the day. And religious experience? :)

It's easier to accept the fact that you just got beat than to have screwed up and lost it yourself (as in our game with CCove). The better team won today. I hope to see a rematch next year as well.

One thing for sure... our returning linemen will have extra incentive to get bigger and stronger this off-season. This ought to light one heck of a fire under them.

Congrats to both teams for the fine seasons you have enjoyed. To AMC way to defy the odds and advance farther than anyone expected. To Trinity, you guys have a great team, and have enjoyed a memorable season. Bring it home for the metroplex and this farmer will proudly turn in his maroon and white for a week and wear the black and red.

I agree with the "bring it back to the metroplex" - but I draw the line at wearing Red and Black.

Congrats Euless Trinity...y'all showed a lot of class in your victory.

Our players and coaches did a great job this year, but you came out the second half and did what you had to do to advance to the Texas Bowl. Wish you the best next week v. Converse Judson.

AMC fans, is #9 a senior? What's his name? That kid is gonna do amazing things in college. He's got speed, great hands, and is already built for the college game. He almost caught a ball in the end zone while being triple covered in the 4th. He caught that step-back pass 8 times and trucked our corner everytime. If only yall had a QB that could throw the deep ball because he would have a field day with us.

IMO, yalls kicker is really good, that 61 yarder wouldve gone in from 70.

I love ya'lls offense, I really think that if Trinity ran that offense that they would be even more unstoppable. Ya'lls defense impressed me too. The only thing that prevented yall from being the winner on saturday was weapons. I'm confident that with a average to good QB it would've been a one TD game.

We have #9 (Detron Lewis for another year). We also have a TB #21 (daniel Palmer, all district as a soph) coming back next year. There are several other running backs that return as well. We lost three great guys (Gay, MacMurry and Orozco) though.

Two of our QB's will be Sr's next year and there's a current soph QB that played JV all year that has Michael Vick-type potential. They had him throw a lot of balls in JV to improve his passing. (JV won district) He's getting very good and the extra month of practice with the Varsity allowed him to get even better. He ran the Berkner scout offense better than the Berkner 2nd string QB ran his own offense. :)

Sad thing is when Texas A&M Univ . asst athletic director, Tim Cassidy left A&M last year, we also lost his QB son that is a current Jr. HS BlueChipper this year in the mid-west somewhere. Ah, the shoulda, coulda, woulda's! :) (Another casualty of the Bill Byrne era at TAMU)

This was a great year, this year. But, we come back reloaded and potentially stronger next year. And, we got 4 extra weeks to practice. Gotta love it. D-Line should recover from losing Daily and Scott O-Line is the question mark, but our coaches face this every year it seems and manage to put together an outstanding O-line every year.

On the subject of Trinity running our offense, I just don't see that it would work. With all due respect to your O-Line and their size, it takes some extremely agile, quck off the ball, olinemen to pull off off the traps, pulls and misdirection it takes to block that scheme. Your guys are massive, but it appears they need to keep with their current blocking scheme considering the success you guys are having.

A&M Consol coaches do a great job of putting an offensive line together each year. AMC Dad's son played very well this year as a sophomore (only soph on the team during the regular season) and the young man has a great future in front of him. He has size, great feet, smart, and very coachable.

BTW...#22 McMurry is back next year as a senior RB.
