This year in particular Cedar Park won district in foorball and where semi quarterfinalist. Finished a game out of the playoffs in basketball (along with leander and Georgetown) and Won district in baseball (only to lose to Klien Collins in the first round). They always win the long distants events in track and tend to have a few fast guys here and there. They have golf in the bag every year before district starts. Their womens athletic program is only 2nd to westlakes in austin. They finished 4th in the lonestar cup this year if im not mistaken. Westlake is also up there for the austin area. Dragons08...the only reason you made this thread is because you know what everybodys answer to your question is going to be ;) .

I would have to say SL Carroll, Katy, The Woodlands, at one time and maybe on the way back up, Austin Westlake. There are some more but i can't think too much right now, will come to me later.

Let me end the debate, it is Kingwood. For those that wish to argue, please refer to today's Houston Chronicle. They have had a most impressive run.

Just saw the article...you're right. Not even close. Am I correct, but Kingwood has had at least a state runner up every year for the last 10 years in one of their sports programs? Or did I read that wrong.

I don't think you can discount Judson from this conversation. Always a basketball and football contender and always good in track. I dont think the intent was to name SLC as the best. Their basketball team is terrible.

our boys varsity soccer team didnt make it to the playoffs either finsihed mid-pack. but they were a young team, lots of talent returning and coming up from JV, so dont count them out next year

'05 Dragon basketball team was 20-8, 11-3 and co-district champs. They went three rounds deep in the playoffs, losing to Desoto.

the best all around sports are highland park, duncanville and slc

I don't care how deep they went - they were terrible. If it wasn't for Austin's gritty nature and J.P. scoring a little bit they wouldn't have won anything. Not to mention that is a weak basketball district period.- best all-arond sports -highland park, duncanville and SLC _ I think the question actually pertains to the entire state not just the metroplex.

kingwood for its state champ basketball team, final 4 in 5a texas baseball team (i think) and its state playoff soccer team.
id have to disagree with katy since its dominantly a football school. wrestling without james aston might be a problem for the tigers. their basketball team is not all that great. and their soccer team just started to shine this year. if their soccer team excells tremendously like they did this 05 season then move over katy taylor and jesuit for soccer powers in 19-5A. their baseball team is always a playoff contender and their football team is beyond words.

Once again...I would have to say Kingwood. Won their FOURTH state title of the YEAR over the weekend. Baseball, Basketball, Cross-Country and Swimming.

There is no doubt about that. They recently were added to the list of teams winning TWO state championships in one year. In 5A, that is amazing.

People always leave out Coppell, remember the only sport Coppell didnt make the play-offs in last year is Football. Cross Country always has at least one runner in the state championship, Vollyball, Soccer 2 state championships in 3years and 4 state soccer trips in 3years, Baseball, Basketball, Swimming, Hockey...Coppell has a great sports program (Besides football)
