They need to work on beating ACU before they think about taking on Texas et. al.

They'll be stealing recruits from aggy in no time.

But seriously, I'm starting to join the camp that says there are too many 1A programs in state. I realize Texas produces a lot of talent, but we're just going to further dilute things.

Join the Firebird bandwagon. BTW, the NCAA has a moratorium on schools moving divisions. With the economy in the tank like it is don't expect to see this for a long time.

texas state should work on getting more student participation in football games...might be the current state of the stadium (poor, to say the least) but according to one of my good friends who goes there..most students get drunk before the game and never actually go in to watch the game. judging from the texas state games i've seen on tv, it's probably not far from the truth.

the economy was the first thing that crossed my mind. As hard as it is for many of us on her to admit it, football should just not be a priority right now!

Texas State seems to do this about every 5 years now. It's really just a huge ploy to get them to spend money to upgrade the facilities.

I only pray that Texas State isnt serious and they just focus one trying to be a contender in D-1AA for a few years before trying to spin-up to D-1A.

"The economy" is a poor excuse. Economies are cyclical and just like every other time the economy has taken a hit, this one will rebound and if history is any indicator, it will roar back stronger than it was before. You don't stop planning for expansion just because the current economy is in the tank. You delay projects and get even tighter with your money, but you don't put ideas on hold.

Well at least they will be able to beat one team.

The main reason this won't happen is the indefinite NCAA moratorium on schools moving up. The NCAA already thinks there are too many schools in IA.

Don't get me wrong... I don't expect it to happen. I just don't fault TSU for trying. Truth is though that UTSA will be 1A long before TSU.

they could raise tuition, ask for help from the city, and recieve donations from alumns as well.

you make it sound far-fetched.

I doubt Texas State could pack that stadium though.
It looks to double in size possibly!
Although it'd be cool I don't see that many people showing up to Texas State football with UTSA getting a football team now.
