that would have been agreed on by both coaches as a neutral site probably because dodge wanted to avoid BS like this where 1/3 of our fans have to stay at home. since the neutral site wasn't available this time he prob HAD to flip and lost.

Why would your fans "have" to stay at home? Are you implying fair weather fans? Are you saying there is a difference in your fans and ours. We're gonna go support our guys even if we have to huddle around a pole with a speaker on it in the parking lot.

Why is it some of the SLC fans can't wait to flame posters who disagree with them? Class? Give me a break ........... I have the utmost respect for your players ....... they've earned it. It's when the small percentage of their "armchair quarterbacks" fans feel that they somehow deserve the same respect as the players, that I have trouble relating.
The kids and the game should be the focus not the fans! (off of my soapbox now) .....

SLC fans have showed great respect but once something bad goes their way after a win by comign to SFA they get mad. SFA has more people than WACO ISD. Baylor was not avaliable. SFA is bigger then ROSE. Coach Dodge did not want to play at Kyler field. So what is fair. we go to TS and just play the game or we flip for home and home.
HEADS OR TAILS. Outlaw won the toss. and picked SFA. so were should we have played. SLC fans have any thign to say. there is no other stadium that would have been fair. We go to Dallas or yall come here was a 50-50 thing.

Pain Train? Is that this year's version of the Lane Train that I seem to remember a bunch of little boys from NE Tarrant County derailing a couple of times?
Seriously, though, I'm wishing for another well played, hard hitting game between two very classy teams--just like the first two meetings were.
If the Panthers come out on top this time, I hope all of us Dragon fans are as classy in defeat as you all were. Of course, I hope we don't get the chance to show our sportsmanship in that regard--no doubt you all feel the same way.

Let me see if I can get this straight. We are complaining about a stadium that will verifiably hold 23,000+ people. We are complaining about having to drive 3+ hours to support our teams. This is h.s. football people! IMHO we should all be thankful that we have the kind of athletes, coaches, programs, and communities that rally around our teams and support them. I think sometimes we forget that this is h.s. football and it is about the kids.
I have nothing but respect and admiration for the SLC program. They have proven to be a dynasty over the last 4 years. That makes me want to beat them even worse. All I can say is come to East Texas, enjoy the trip, and settle in for a great football game. We will all do a little chanting, cheering, and jeering, and at the end of the game we will congratulate the winners (the kids) on a game well played.
Good luck and hope to see you Saturday!

I agree. I know I will enjoy it. I like the Texas/OU comment. Maybe we can continue to make this an annual event! However, I would prefer more of a Texas/Texas A&M type matchup, only with a more favorable outcome!
I know the web site says 14k, but we have had 23k in there before. I believe the Lufkin vs. Longview game set some sort of record for the stadium. It's kind of sad for two h.s. teams to pack more than a college team.:)
I can't wait. Hopefully the game will be a safe one. I don't want to see anymore broken arms or collar bones or anything like that.

I find it interesting that no one is complaining about the size of the venue for the Katy-Smithson Valley game. That game is being held at a stadium that holds 15,000 and doesn't have near as much grass seating as SFA (if they even allow it). Furthernore, SFA holds more than Waco ISD where Lufkin-SLC played each other in 2002. Both Coach Outlaw and Coach Dodge made decisions (or lack of) about nuetral fields or home/home flip based on what was best for their TEAM. And that's who they should be worried about. To say that Lufkin should be "forced" to make Kyle field their "home" site is ludicrous. 150 miles away from your campus is not the definiton of "home". The coaches of these two teams could not agree on a neutral site. If Coach Dodge wanted to make sure that his team played in a stadium that held 50,000, he could have agreed to play at Kyle Field. However, he chose to take the chance of playing in Nacogdoches to avoid playing on grass. He put the TEAM before the fans in his decision-making as it should be. I can assure you that Lufkin would not complain if the situation were reversed. A dedicated SLC fan should trust that Coach Dodge made the best decision for the sake of his TEAM and quit blaming Coach Outlaw.
Learn from the Smithson-Valley people and just go to the game and enjoy what I hope is a great contest!!!

Smithson Valley did not even fill up the visitor side of Comalander (30 min drive, 11,000 seat stadium) there will be Katy red on the Visitor side on Saturday for sure.

You know what has frustrated me since the crew started just a few years? It is just an organization for people that don't want to put the time and effort into being able to stand on the sideline to be able to be down on the field. I never once see them add anything to the game at all besides the pushups, but if the offense was not so good, you would not be able to add that. The crew does not do a single thing to get the crowd pumped up and almost any time I look over to them, they are just socializing. I went to a pep rally a few years ago and the skit that they put on was absolutely terrible. They do not add anything to the school, nor do they to the great experience that is a Carroll football game. If you want to be on the sideline you should have do something to earn it, and not just do a bunch of girly pushups in the endzone after a dragon score. I have to say that at the first game this year I was embarassed by the way the crew did pushups especially when that TV guy was doing the pushups with you and he showed what a real pushup should look like. I can understand the female members of the crew not doing a good pushup, but there is no excuse for the male members. Part of the reason that the crowd is dead and there was a lack of attendance at the Allen game is because the crew was not doing their only job. Their job is to energize the fans. How can you complain about a group of fans that is not into the game, when it is your job to make sure that the fans are into it?

remeber southlake is a small town, so we may say 50 percent of southlake there, and others will have 30 perecent, but still have wayyyyyy more people...you are right, it is kind of lame at times, but yesterday when we needed to we did get loud

why not try to take down the cheerleaders to? their on the sidelines, doing nothing...how about the student trainers? they didnt have to work extremly hard to get down there..how about the camera kid and kid with the thing that picks up the sounds, they didnt have to work hard to be down there, so to call out one group of people down this is absurd...lets call out the band to while your at it..cause we get to go down there to..

I didn't know it was your JOB to pump up the crowd as he puts it. How ridiculous is that. I know that if a crowd wants to be pumped up they don't have to wait to be told or encouraged to be pumped up. You true SLC fans keep doing what you have been doing and we true LP fans will show you much respect. Don't let that FAKE SLC fan try to rip on you. Just ignore him. He has shown his ignorance one too many times. Congratulations on another great season and we look forward to another great matchup this coming Saturday.
If their job is not to pump up the crowd what is their job? I am as real Carroll as it gets. Why must you resort to a personal attack? I have bee able to keep my composure and not use curse words? I don't have a clue yet you are the one that says that a member of a student organization who's job it is to pump up the crowd, should not have to pump up the crowd. That makes a lot of sense.

3k pushups is nothing compared to what everyone else on the sideline had to do to get there. Also I am not on the crew and therefore do not have to do a single proper pushup. Part of the crew's job is being able to do pushups which is just another thing that they cannot do.
most the people on the sideline probably made a few phone calls and acquired a pass...what an honor. and in your reference to our pushups, you were refering to our FIRST game...in 110 degress in the middle of the day in abilene...on tv...on our LAST set of the game...with 40 seconds left. shame on us for not being tired. and that cameraman stopped after about 10...
i dont see why i feel the need to defend myself agianst you, its a waste of my time. but if you actually came to games now, you would see that your view on our pushups is completely wrong. after 3,000+ im pretty sure i can do them right

why not try to take down the cheerleaders to? their on the sidelines, doing nothing...how about the student trainers? they didnt have to work extremly hard to get down there..how about the camera kid and kid with the thing that picks up the sounds, they didnt have to work hard to be down there, so to call out one group of people down this is absurd...lets call out the band to while your at it..cause we get to go down there to..
All of those people serve a purpose. The trainers have special skills and do their jobs. I am not going to defend the cheerleaders because every year they get worse and worse. The person with the microphone is doing his job. He is part of the broadcast team. The band works extremely hard and they do their halftime show. That is their job. What does the crew do? I am still trying to figure it out. How did Carroll get along without a crew all those years before the crew came along.?

hmm...
How can you complain about a group of fans that is not into the game, when it is your job to make sure that the fans are into it?
oh okay...

You still don't get it. Just because Cheerleaders or Dragon Crews or Pep Squads were organized to help pump up the crowd does not mean that it is their fault if they don't do it or if the crowd isn't loud. It is the crowds responsibility to get loud with or without encouragement. Are you that SLOW that you need someone to tell you when to get pumped up and loud. Are you not a leader but just a follower. There have been MANY times at games where people in the stands were the ones who started pumping each other up. TRUE FANS for any team do not need to rely on the CREW doing their job to get the crowd pumped up. If you can't get pumped up about your team without them then I really question your LOYALTY to the team. Leave the kids at SLC alone and let them have fun at doing what they are doing. You just continue to sit home or at work and let the REAL SLC fans support the best team in the land.
By the way if you wan't to talk about personal attacks you have been attacking Coach Outlaw nonstop so spare me on that issue.

DFF... all the talking you are doing will not change anything. The coin toss is over, and the dragon crew is still going to be down there. You are showing obvious signs of inmaturity by continuously talking on here about how selfish lufkin is for winning a coin toss. Cmon now man, give it a break. We won the toss, there is nothing you can do. It's that simple.

I am not upset about Lufkin winning a coin toss. I just thought more of Lufkin than to be so selfish. That is all. Why even have a message board. People like to talk about stuff knowing that they cannot affect the outcome. By what you are saying, people should only talk about something on here when they can change it. In that case people should stop talking in all the threads specifically about football.

I guess they could just follow the Crew around on the sidelines all game shouting something like, "Attention...Crew Equipment turn-in turn-in date is [Monday after game]" instead of supporting the actual team.

I cannot believe what I just read throughout this thread. SLC has a lot of respect from most fans of other schools and I think Lufkin Fans have been very quick to praise the Southlake players, coaches, and fans. SLC has enjoyed nothing but respect from Lufkin, but the posts here are in effect; "airing our dirty laundry in public" - I have seen trash talking the opposition, but to openly trash any part of your own organization is beyond belief.
I go the games to watch football, I have no interest in the band, belles etc, but I respect the time, efforts and practice each student of these activities put in week after week. This is why I sit, watch, listen, applaud and appreciate their dedication and hard work, whether it be the band or the belles. Crew especially, is a very prestigious group within Carroll, which just like every other school activity, takes practice, commitment and personal time. To Lufkin fans I am looking to visiting your city. I am looking forward to the game to see the student players, band, belles, cheerleaders and Crew – I know each group will make me proud to be from Southlake.

Let's get this straight. Nac is not Lufkin so you will not be visiting our city. SFA is in Nac though and they have a 3 to 1 girl to boy ratio so there is plenty of beautiful women there. Plenty of clubs also. That is the only thing good i can say about Nacaroaches. Lufkin is almost double the size of Nac.

being a cheer dad, i know that most cheerleaders like to see a reaction from the crowd when chanting things like defense,go,or things like that , that involve whats going on in the game. but, when they are doing their cheers that don't exactly involve the game, they don't really expect much out of the crowd. there has been many lp games, well not just lp game , but where the cheerleaders will join in on what the fan are saying at the moment. take game at baylor friday night for example, everytime us lp fans started in with defense, or go, or something involving the game, the cheerleaders picked up their megaphones and joined in with the crowd. so no, it's not really the cheerleaders or anyone other spirit group's responsibility for getting the crowd pumped up. yeah, the help but, the crowd should come pumped up ready to watch football and not have to depend on the cheerleaders, band or any spirit group.
what if there wasn't such things as a CREW, panther pride, cheerleaders, band?
im pretty sure the crowd would find some way to pump up themselves from the people who came to the game ready to cheer on their team and be as loud as they can.

If you are talking daytime population, Lufkin has much more because of the hospitals and better shopping and restraunts but it might be stretching it a little to say that Lufkin (pop. 34,000) is twice as big as Nacogdoches (pop. 31,000)
