Obviously the better team out there. Wylie looked lost, and just flat out came out flat. Defense played well, but the offense couldn't adjust. I'm not going to play coach and say the play calls were bad. I think the Katy defense is a lot better than expected from my point of view. Not sure on some of the offensive play calls. But, great job from Katy to get pressure on Monk. That's obviously the weakness of the team, and until now... it hasn't been figured out.

Grats to Katy and their fans on a championship season.

wylie o-line just looked overmatched when katy blitzed and couldn't give the QB time to throw at all

Way to go Katy, its good to know that we played a small role in this title. May be next year you guys can return the favor by ending our undefeated streak and then sending us on to another title.

Completely agree. Katy's defensive line was the difference in the game. Wylie's QB never looked comfortable at all and they never got the running game going. Congrats to Katy on another one.:notworthy

saw a couple times when katy would blitz off the edge and they'd try and move a 280lb guard out to block him. not gonna work in the state game

It was a great thread this week. Thanks for the congratulations. The posts you guys and others made truly were great. It made the anticipation of the game much more fun for me. Maybe I'll stick around the rest of the year and chime in every now and again. Don't tell my wife I said that:ninja:.

Wylie's line missed A LOT of blocks today. By far Katy had the best defense we have played all year. There were ways to exploit their defense, but Purcell (OC) couldn't figure it out.

Thanks,

I'll be eating my crow tonight. I knew that if Wylie came out flat, and couldn't score... it wouldn't be a fun game. But, on that note... I think Whitlock made his claim for defensive player of the year. He played lights out, and missing Toby Ball in the 2nd half really hurt. But, we gotta take this licking (no pun intend) whether we like it or not.

First of all. Congrats to Wylie. Very tough team, and salty all the way around. I think not being able to get in flow on offense was the difference. Monk was practically running to buy time all day. I've seen every Katy team since the 1997 team and you guys played well against a very good program.

Katy. BIG ups to you guys. I always thought all your teams have been impressive throughout the years. Personally, I've always felt the 2000 was the MOST complete and impressive I'd ever seen play and has led me to watchin g you guys over the years.

Considering you almost beat a very good North Shore team, onbe I felt good enough and deserving to be playing Allen today ( no knock against Hightower ) an that burp or hiccup against the woodlands. I really thought this team was good, but 12-1, or 11-1 good. Considering how 'green' this team was to or is to start out and pretty much tell the world kiss your a** this was a great job by the Katy Players, and hats off to Coach Joseph and huis staff. This was a MOST impressive coaching Job. You lost some bug name s and players off that 2007 team.

Mery Christmas to the Tigers, and Pirates as well. It is something to build on. If I call First Tine I EVER saw Katy they world getting rolled up in College Station to the gtune of 28-7 by Plano. Now they got 6 titles.

On that note, I am picking Katy to go all the way again next year. Returning that many players, and as solid fundamentally as they play... I don't see them losing next year.

I posted this somewhere else....and turned out...Katy's DEFENSE was the differencethe more I look...the less impressed I am with their offense. Hear are the teams they faces and the avg's those teams gave up:
Hebron (22.5)
Horn (35.1)
Rowlett (23.4)
Allen (16.9)
Jesuit (38.2)
Boyd (36.7)
Plano (26.7)
Plano East (42.3)
Plano West (31.3)
Irving (26.1)
Bowie (16.2)
C. Hill (23.1)
Cove (15.1)

Cove had the best defense they faced all year...BUT those numbers are deceiving. During the regular season Cove played ONE team that had a better than .500 record...and they lost to A&M Cons.(6-5)

I will say our defense will be the best, and most physical defense they have seen by far.

Great Job by Coach Joseph....ADJUSMENTS.....and unselfish play by the team.

Defensive MVP Sebi Carbajal...Started the season at WR
Offensive MVP Will Jeffrey.....Started the season as a DB

The Spread is played out just like the running shoot......I love seeing Full backs catching passes out of the backfield and galloping in the open.

I would like to give Katy another congrats from a Wylie fan. They out played Wylie from the 1st half I saw before I had to go to a wedding. Wylie did not look comfortable on offense, defense seemed shaky in the 1st half (remember I heard/saw none of the 2nd half) though they did make key plays as well. We had a heck of a run, I mean making the championship game in 5A after 30 years of not is nothing to shy away. Wylie made mistakes and Katy capitalized on them. Who knows this could be the matchup next year but I will say that both teams deserve a round of applause for two great seasons.

As others have said The Wylie D played pretty well. From where I was sitting Katy managed to manage Whitlock most of the game thus the run success.

Katy's O played well but their D won the game. Monk never had a chance to gain his composure, never settled in to the game. And I place that squarely on Katy's D's penetration.

Contrats again. See ya next year. Same bat time, same bat channel.

I think our offense did pretty well too. Whitlock is definitely a force to be reckoned with, and though we didn't neutralize him, I think we made him a little less effective than hoped. Don't worry. We didn't win in our first trip to the playoffs either, as I'm sure you know. Lessons learned the hard way are usually lessons learned well. :)

I was impressed with your Defense in particular. Coaching? Wow! That play down around the 35 where you had the halfback(fullback?) stay still and the whole team is running right, the QB hands the ball to the back and he runs left? Fooled everybody!
