Trinity hasn't seen a defense like Judson has. Spring Westfield has an outstanding offense and Judson shut them down. And before the Beasley got hurt excuses start, WF was struggling even with him in there. This Judson defense is good. The offense still needs some work, but the D is the real deal. Go Rockets!!

I'll go with Judson. Defense wins championships no matter what level you play at. Saying that, I haven't seen Trinity play. Peolpe who have seen both play might have a better idea but they would have had to seen them both in the last 4 weeks. Judson's D is for real. Remember this is a D that shut down a powerfull SV offense. Now at almost 100% they will be tough to beat.
Special teams (bad snaps, missed fg's, TD returns) will play a big part in this game.

6 titles in the 9 previous title games!:D Oh, the other stats.
They give up about 220 yards a game and around 11-12 points a game. They score like 26-27 and get about 300 yards a game. That's about right without looking. They played in the best district and had a real good non-district schedule, so the stats should be better than they are.

Exactly.
Under normal circumstances, a team that wasn't destined for greatness would have lost that last game to a good Reagan team in 26-5A and not made the cut for the post season.

Yeah its a huge misconception that Westfield had the best offense in Division 1 we have a significant advantage in every category. Even in our worst games we score 28. However this will be a good game, Judson finally playing with 13 starters back is playing like the team that started in 5atexasfootball's Top 10. But again it wouldn't be wise of Judson to confuse Westfield's offense for Trinity's.

I think what every team doesn't find out to they play us, is our offensive line has everything quite frankly their the best in the state. Usually offensive lines if their big and strong theyre not quick or conditioned. Or if they quick and technically sound theyre not as big or strong. Well as now A&M and all our previous opponents can attest the HAWGS are big and strong but our often athletic enough to take dbs out way downfield and do it for 4 qts. All that being said we at Trinity have the utmost respect for Judson and their defense and our greatly excited about this matchup.

Yeah actually Trevor has almost 2,000 yds passing inspite of our strong running game and almost 20 touchdowns. The HAWGS have also given him room to run for 7 or 8 touchdowns. I'm willing to bet money that Trinity is in the top 5 in the state if not number 1 in the state in yds per completion. If u underestimate our passing game you'll be watching #23 Marcus King catch over you and Laderrick, Dimitri, and even TE Jordan Scoggins run past you.

Judson is 265, and I will always cheer for a 265 team to win it all because it is so hard to even make the playoffs in that district. Trinity has been my favorite team this year, and I was hoping to see them win state. However, I did not think in a million years that Judson would be the one playing them. I just wish I could see this game live instead of on TV. My pick? I would be crazy not to pick Judson after what they have done.

It's only Sunday and the posters are getting at it already.
Both these teams deserve a lot of credit for getting to the state championship game. We the fans (unless you are a player or coach) should support our team. Me personally, I don't have anyone that goes to either school but Judson is from 265a which is the district my kids go to school at. Getting to watch Judson in 4 games this year I have seen their ups and downs and their record of 9-4 (especially the 4 loses) doesn't give you an accurate assesment of this team. They are coming together at the right time. Their defense is playing at a high level (better then last year's team) and that's what will keep them in this game. Their offense doesn't do anything special but they do execute their running game and have the athletes to break the big play. They will rely on ball control and defense to win this game. I don't have any info on Trinity but they must be a very good team to here. It looks like a game between a great offense and a great defense. Ask anyone that coaches or plays the game. Great defense will win championships, great offesnes sell tickets.
I dont' know who will win this game but if I have to pick a winner, then I'll take the team with the better defense. I think that's Judson.

How's this for predictions? This appeared in the Dallas paper
HS football playoffs: Best of the best
02:48 PM CST on Thursday, November 10, 2005
By TIM MacMAHON / The Dallas Morning News
READY FOR A RUN
The area teams with the best chances to advance to state finals:
Southlake Carroll: It'd be silly to bet against a program that has played in three consecutive 5A Division II finals. But Carroll certainly is no lock. Abilene, which almost upset Carroll last season, looms in the third round. A state-ranked, undefeated foe – Carter, Copperas Cove, Lufkin or Longview – would challenge Carroll in the state semifinal.
Highland Park: QB Matthew Stafford and an explosive offense get all the attention. Highland Park's defense has consistently shut down opponents in relative anonymity. The balance makes Highland Park the favorite in the loaded 4A Division I Region II.
Euless Trinity: Trinity, which won a regional title last season, received a big break when Carroll wasn't bumped to the 5A Division I bracket. The earliest Trinity could see a state-ranked team is the final.
Celina: The state's top-ranked 2A team has shut out six opponents and scored at least 50 points seven times. Celina has won 26 of its last 27 playoff games as a 2A program.
CLUTCH QUARTERBACKS
Some quarterbacks who have proven themselves in pressure situations:
Matthew Stafford, Highland Park: His 403-yard, three-touchdown game in an upset of Ennis two years ago was one of the most impressive playoff performances by a sophomore in state history. His high school career, however, will be remembered for what he does the next six weeks.
Trevor Vittatoe, Euless Trinity: He was spectacular during Trinity's run to the 5A Division I semifinals last season. He completed all 12 passes for 193 yards in a victory over Mansfield Summit in the regional final.
Greg McElroy, Southlake Carroll: McElroy, a Texas Tech recruit, didn't shy away from preseason expectations that came with following Chase Wasson and Chase Daniel, winners of the last three 5A offensive player of the year awards. He exceeded them, posting passing stats that compare favorably with his predecessors.
Justin Johnson, Richardson Berkner: He rushed for 203 yards in last season's bi-district win over Skyline. He also was the starting point guard on Berkner's basketball team, which went to the regional tournament.
( Note: Did not play in game with A&M Consol. due to broken jaw before the game)
OVERPOWERING LINES
Some big, bullying offensive lines:
Euless Trinity: "The Hawgs" are carrying on a Trinity tradition of opening holes almost as wide as the one in the Texas Stadium roof. Saia Falahola, a 6-3, 310-pound guard, sets the tone.
Highland Park: Chris Olson (Texas Tech) and Reid Prince (Baylor) are the state's best bookends. They headline a unit that allowed Highland Park to dominate while QB Matthew Stafford was sidelined by knee surgery.
Cedar Hill: Brandon Washington (6-5, 305) and Nigel Bolden (6-5, 290) anchor a unit that allows multipurpose star Jerell Norton to get into open field.
THIS WEEK'S BEST GAMES
Kimball at Ennis, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Lions Stadium: Kimball believes it should have beaten Ennis a year ago. Instead, Ennis won its third state title in five seasons.
Highland Park vs. Texarkana Texas High, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Tyler's Rose Stadium: Two 4A state-ranked teams meet in a rematch of Texas High's 28-25 win in last season's first round.
Southlake Carroll vs. Irving MacArthur, 6 p.m. Saturday, Texas Stadium: MacArthur won eight games by a touchdown or less. Just keeping this one close will be a feat.
LOOK AHEAD
Intriguing potential matchups:
Highland Park vs. Ennis: This has Thanksgiving weekend classic written all over it, just like the perennial powers' previous two meetings. Ennis would love a chance to end QB Matthew Stafford's career at Highland Park.
Southlake Carroll vs. Plano: Texas Stadium might be packed for this potential regional final between undefeated teams. Plano would be a major underdog against the nation's No. 1 team

But again it wouldn't be wise of Judson to confuse Westfield's offense for Trinity's.
Westfield was awesome at the beginning of the season but they fell off quite a bit in the later half. They are listed with an average margin of victory of 31 points per game (season average). Unfortunately for them, they only averaged a margin of victory of 15 points per game during their playoff run (4 games). Their defense was not as effective either during the last half of the season. They struggled much more in the playoffs than they did during the first half of their season. I think they were a strong team in the playoffs, just not the powerhouse that was advertised.
Trinity also dropped off at the end of district play but quickly recovered during the playoffs. Trinity's margin of victory has been 30.5 points per game during the playoffs. No drop off from our season average of 30 points per game. Trinity has plenty of room for improvement but we WILL BE as advertised next Saturday.
Your warning about confusing Westfield's offense with Trinity's is sound advice. Now, just how good is this awesome run defense Judson has?? Other than the Westfield game, how does it look?

Westfield was awesome at the beginning of the season but they fell off quite a bit in the later half. They are listed with an average margin of victory of 31 points per game (season average). Unfortunately for them, they only averaged a margin of victory of 15 points per game during their playoff run (4 games). Their defense was not as effective either during the last half of the season. They struggled much more in the playoffs than they did during the first half of their season. I think they were a strong team in the playoffs, just not the powerhouse that was advertised.

Defense is no good. You guys need to take it easy on the poor little Rockets!:D
In all seriousness. This is the arguably the best defense Judson has fielded since I have watched them (1987). Not that much size, but a lot of speed and really good at playing a technically sound game. That combined with their speed makes them extremely good.

Lonny, I will never trade in my blue and gold and I will always be in love with Schertz Clemens.
But, since Clemens has played their last game in 5A for a while, if not forever, I now support Judson all the way thru and thru.
Bring it back home boys!!!
I know you're not giving up on Clemens. I'd be mad if you did. I just figured I'd say it and thank you for supporting Judson.

Okay....you talk about the passing of Trinity...OPS! Remember last year when Trevor went 13 for 13 in a playoff game. Trinity didn't need to pass Saturday. You guys haven't seen how accurate Vittato can be. 60% completion rate for 30yds. The mystery you guys should be worried about is that Trinity CAN pass when they need to. You have to worry about WHO the receiver is gonna. Is it a running back, who you have to commit to stopping, or is it another receiver. Remember, we have #40, who is a sbig as most linemen and can run and catch. Just how much multitasking can you guys do? You have no idea what Trinity has in the bag because they have not had to show anything to this point. Good luck, play hard.

#40 scoggins is a mad man, and yes, trinitys passing game is underrated and has been awesome at some clutch times, (excpet for those flea flickers that they can never seem to complete)

Misconception.....What?
Before last week SW was undefeated, you were not.
Where's the misconception?
The only reason you are still playing and they are not is you have not played Judson yet.
See ya Saturday.

Here's my unbiased take on the game with supporting data.
Euless Trinity Converse Judson Spring Westfield
rank total ave/game rank total ave/game rank total ave/game
Offense 3rd 642pts 46pts 8th 471 39pts 86th 360 26pts
Defense 33rd 226 16pts 12th 182 13pts 7th 131 11pts
Margin of Victory 30pts 13pts 28pts
SOS 19th 174.17 1st 180.41 30th 172.47
With the above data Euless offense is much better than Spring Westfield. Euless defense is the weakest of the three which can be skewed due to the large margin of victory average and a fairly tough strength of schedule. With all this said Euless Trinity is a much better team offensively than Spring Westfield yet weaker Defensively. Converse Judson has been in tight games all year with the toughest strength of schedule in 5A. This could have skewed their number higher than they might have been with higher margin of victories.
SA O'Connor hung 28 points on Judson in the first round of the playoffs with a less potent offense. My prediction for the game is:
Euless Trinity 35
Converse Judson 28
Good luck to both teams and may we have a safe game!

Keep posting those stats..I love it..Thats all Westfield did..Brag about averages and we score this many and blah, blah, blah....Well Im lovin it..Keep taking Judson lightly..Alot of people are in for a rude awakening..Keep harping on the losses and keep posting those averages..Those happened against those teams..This is the CONVERSE JUDSON ROCKETS...Also that was a pretty nice pic...But remember that wasnt Judson....The best is yet to come...Ive seen the tapes and like Westfield and any other team..There are flaws there...

Just wanted to make a correction... Judson and O'Connor played in the Second round. And if our defense would have shown up when the game started at 7:30 OC would have won. But I guess it just wasn't O'Connor's time. Thats next year when all of the 17 starting soph. are Jr.'s and Sr.! :D
And I still say Judson by 1! #1 Will be the Difference maker on Special teams!

Were not taking Judson lightly, and we've only mentioned our stats in our defense for when Judson fans claim they played a better team last week. Keep thinking we're Westfield and YOU WILL JOIN THEM.

It seems to me that 4 other teams found the flaws in Judson. What makes you so sure that Trinity won't find them also. ;) Your squeaking by days might just be OVER
