Great teams find ways to overcome. SLC found a way to win today when things weren't going well at times. Lufkin will have to rally around Thomas and do the right things in order to win.

Should be another phenomenal matchup between 2 great programs.

Folks: I am a big Panther fan. But I am seriously worried about SLC. They've been steamrolling teams all year. I think Lufkin has a good shot, even without Claybon as QB. But the Lufkin defense can't afford to be confused and misdirected like what Cove did to them Friday night at Waco.
I think I'll keep my mouth closed and reserve my smack talk this week on this one. :)

I am a Lufkin fan, but I am picking the dragons in this one, Lufkin will not overcome the qb situation and Hewitt is not healthy, I give the edge in Southlakes favor.

It's all about heart. Lufkin has been wanting to play SLC and they are confident that they can when even though they are said to have one of the worst second string qb's. I think Outlaw will get this under controll and the panthers are able but don't know if they will come out on top. I'm a beleiver. <-- (is that how you spell it)

Actually, that is no longer true. The old 2nd stringer has been dropped from the playoff roster. #16 Ralph Thomas will get the nod if Claybon can not go. Athletically, he is more than capable of calling the signals. The question in my mind is his read ability. That will be the key.

Come on Pack fans no need for smack talk, but all I have heard week in and week out is how worried we are. It's the State Semi-Finals all teams are great and very tough (Ask Katy and Spring Westfield after today). We have been here before and against SLC nonetheless and came very close both times. They are a great program and both have respect for each other.

I have been around Ralph Thomas in baseball and football for a number of years and he is a great athlete and knows how and wants to win. Yes. Claybon has been at the helm and has more experience this year, but Ralph will be just fine. With Ralph you gain speed and a stronger throwing arm, he does know the offense and does have playoff experience, yes you do lose some on the experience from reading defenses, but chill and quit chewing your worry towels. Ground zero when you are drafting a game plan for SLC. The "D" steps up when needed and new hero's emerge each week...;)

Plano just gave Carroll a great game, they can be beat. Lufkin is not a one man team, as seen week in and week out. The first part of the season Lufkinites were worried we had an offense at all...I think we do. I for one will stay positive and continue to believe in this bunch of kids...they have faced a lot of adversity this year and each time prevailed.

You don't have to educate me about Ralph. I've been watching the boy since T Ball. Like you said he will be fine calling the signals. I'm sure he will work on his reading skills this week in practice. Claybon will be there to help him along the way. I'm sure Ralph will be fine. However, Claybon was having a whale of a year! Sad to see this happen to him. My prayers are with him and his family! He'll be back next year though.

Please, Claybon has a gun and is excellent at reading the defenses. No comparison. Thomas is one of the best pure athletes i have seen but do not tell me this will not hurt a little. Claybon only broke Reggie's passing td record but it is not a big deal?? :confused: Ralph will get snaps all week and he and the coaching staff will be prepared and Lufkin will have a good shot in this one at Nac.

I have to disagree. Lufkin has a extremely talented defense with much more speed then SLC. SLC's defense does not have to face the SLC offense so that helps. ;) And i love you like a HOF brother. Nothing wrong with us having disagreement. This Lufkin defense is twice as good as the 2002 and 2004 defense that held SLC to 30 and 37. Just my opinion and I am sticking to it. ;) This defense is just as good as the 2003 defense. Ask Katy 2003 how good they were? (I believe yall played them too?? ;) The offense was the problem that year.
