It was a fantastic game - I'm glad I don't have to have any voice left to post here! I'm so proud of our Wildcats I could bust. They held tough and kept it competitive right to the end.

But we gotta hand it to you, SLC. We stopped everything we could stop and there were just too many weapons. Hope you go all the way.

The SLC fans were a bit more subdued until crunch time. Since SLC has been in so many important games over the last 4 years it's hard to get so excited every game. However, we made planty of noice when we needed to.

I'm not so sure...SLC is one of the best I have ever seen at making half time adjustments. The thing that kept Plano in the game was their passing game. The forced turnovers didn't hurt either.

I thought Plano played a great game and I was proud of our team and our fan support, as usual. I thought the adjustments that SLC’s defense made in the second half swung the balance in their favor.

Congratulations to SLC, you were the better team today.

thats what my thoughts are! i mean yes were loud when we need to be, and cheering and what not, but we dont have the chants and what not...a couple of us will start the "lets go dragons" (in the band), then the drumline will do, "defense" and "block that kick" other than that we dont have any chants, i mean thers the "lets go o" ones but thats about it..was the crew starting a "push-ups" chant? i saw one of you guys hold up the side of the board that said pushups and kept pushing it up and down! but i seriosuily think we need more chants, noisemakers, and some kind of thing to wave in the air...what happend to the thunder sticks?

Our arms do not get tired, but our voices are a little hoarse at the end of the game! Also, in the playoffs, Plano fans stand for at least half of the typical game. One time in Odessa we stood the entire game from the national anthem to the end (we won!). The only time the fans sat down was when the Permian band performed at half time. As soon as the Plano band entered the field, all of the Plano fans immediately stood up again. One of the Permian players from that year wrote me an email and said they knew they were in trouble when they saw Plano's fan support.

Our quarterback club produces the Paws every year and distributes them at the games ( a lot of work). The tradition started in 1986. I remember going to my first Plano game and undergoing training/indoctrination in the Plano rituals from the Paws, to the school song, etc…. I have never been exposed to a school with such a long, proud tradition. I fell in love with the school and community!

you know alex clift? or jeff larkin? ask them to borrow their defense signs...you can just get some posters and right stuff on them, or steal the cheerleaders yelling things, (if htey didnt lose them), and just start random chants, if all else fails, get some towels and do what that guy on the sideline always does, throws it up in the air and wave it and stuff

Our kicker has been a lot of fun to watch over the last two seasons. I think he is the best Plano place kicker I have ever seen. Numerous times he has actually kicked the ball through the goal post on kickoffs (I think he did once yesterday)! No lie, totally serious.

He also has kicked many long field goals including one of 55 or 56 last year. Sometime Plano would line up for a long field goal and the other team's fans would hoot and make cat calls like they thought it was a joke. They were not laughing afterward!

The Dragon Nation has had many games much bigger than the Plano game every year. That's why the fans are a bit quiet early in games. It's not easy to get excited week after week when you are heavily favored and usually blow out every opponent. However, when the Plano game was on the line, the Dragon Nation was as loud and probably louder than the Plano side.

Considering Southlake only has 27,000 people, it's amazing that there were 17,000 fans (guess) on the Southlake side. Many of those were not Southlake residents, but nonetheless, the Dragon Nation turned out in HUGE numbers. And, they were LOUD when it counted.

He kicked from the SLC 45 so that would make it a 55 yard FG. Not bad.

The SLC kicker has been out with a stress fracture in his lower back and didn't play against Plano. He kicked a 50 yard FG earlier this year.

In fact, Marching Band is done at high school campus, not the senior high campus.

I'm sorry but you do not know what you are talking about. How many Plano games did you attend this year?

Were you at Allen at 6:00 when the stadium gates opened and the Plano fans were in line to enter. Where you there when our team entered the field an hour before the game and our stands were full?

Were you at Marcus or Flower Mound when we fell behind and our fans stood and yelled their hearts out?

Were you in Midland when our fans stood for 3/4ths of the game?

No you weren't. So don't draw conclusions without facts to back them up!

Your second statement shows your lack of knowledge about Plano's history. Plano has played in more big games in its history than SLC and many of the fans in the stands Saturday were in the stands 1, 5, 10, 20 years ago.

Let's not start this again, I think both sides are used to playing in big games and both sides demonstrated yesterday that they both have a large, loyal following.

It futile to argue over tradition, yes its true that we have one that is older and perhaps to a degree more refined than SLC, but the Dragons have a great fan base and are developing their owen unique tradition.

As I have said before Plano was playing in State Title Games when SLC was nothing more than fields and a bait shop. But since that time they have grown to become a successful program who are in the midst of their golden era. Like others that came before them Plano included they too will face days when thats not the case.

For now SLC is on top and I wish them nothing but good luck against Lufkin this week.

No offense Plano. Your history and tradition speak for itself. There's a nice parallel between SLC and Plano's programs. For years Plano was the standard bearer. You fell upon tough times but you are back. We (SLC) like to think we are the standard bearer today. Hopefully we can get another title this year. We'll only be 1 behind you then. Dang Katy. If we win in 03 and win this year we would have won 4 in a row and nobody in modern history has done that!

LOL - I just need to bring more of my east coast friends out to the games - - - I can't tell you how many chants we started over on the "varsity cheerleader" side . . . Why can't someone just stand down there with "signs" telling people what to chant? Works for College . . . Once our little group started chanting, it wasn't too hard to get everyone around us to also . . .

I also suggest just standing for the whole game - it definitly makes the people behind you stand up as well :D :D

The Plano crowd does that on just about every game, in just about every play even if it's only a 4-yard gain. Also one thing about the game, when K. Joiner got hurt for Plano why didn't any of the SLC players take a knee? About 2 or 3 of them did at first but than stood up once they looked at their teammates. And what was with #58(something like that) flicking off the Plano crowd at the end? Other than that, best game of the year, good luck against Lufkin, later.

I think thats the biggest BS i have ever heard. Dont give yourself so much credit. The plano v plano east and plano v plano west games are far biggers then playin SLC becasue of the tradtion and rivalries involved. just becasue we played the numer one team in the nation doesnt mean we wouldnt have had the same turnout if it was anybody else competeing for the regional champ game.

The Majority of the students show up @ 12:00 Midnight @ Kyle Field for yell practice.
The next day we show up early, and they have the whole street filled with food stands.
We stand the WHOLE game, every game! :P

Your wrong on that one..our whole team on the field took a knee..I was watching to see if they did it...flicking off the crowd? I doubt it...

I think thats the biggest BS i have ever heard. Dont give yourself so much credit. The plano v plano east and plano v plano west games are far biggers then playin SLC becasue of the tradtion and rivalries involved. just becasue we played the numer one team in the nation doesnt mean we wouldnt have had the same turnout if it was anybody else competeing for the regional champ game.I was implying that it was the region final first and foremost and also a game against SLC. Teams tend to get up for us.

As far as play-off importance, it was Plano's biggest game in quite a few years.

I don't think the SLC players ON the field did at least that’s not what a lot of the students at pshs saw anyways (maybe your not thinking about the same player down as me). Also yeah some random SLC player took off his helmet after the handshakes and started staring at the Plano crowd until he flicked us off than just turned around. Anyways, doesn't really matter anymore, good game, and good luck.

I also witnessed many Plano and SLC players shaking hands and talking after the game. Standing together talking shows mutual respect and class. Both Plano and SLC exhibited both. I also saw groups of Plano and SLC hand in hand on bended knee giving thanks to our God. Once again, mutual respect and class. No one is going to convince me that those 2 teams did anything but represent their schools with class. A great game played by classy young people. We need more of this in our country. Wish all NFL players would be required to act the same. Congrats to both teams. Both are winners.

I agree with my3sons. I thought that for the most part both teams, bands, cheerleaders, fans, etc. represented their schools well. Given the stakes for the game it was even more impressive. I do not care what one player for SLC may have done ( I did not see it). From what I could see the players from SLC and Plano both represented their schools with great sportsmanship. I felt very honored and excited to have witnessed this game, it showed much of what is still good in our country.

NFL players show class? First the owners would have to have some class about themselves. High School football is a better game than the NFL any day in my mind.

I've personally never seen a lack of class in the deeper rounds - most programs are happy to be participating in December. A few minor incidents happen, but the kids/coaches line up and shake hands in the end, sing the school song win or lose and act like you've been there before.

It's a shame, but I have in 2002 when Carroll played Lufkin for the regional championship. That was the only instance that I had seen.

Good job Dragon band. Hope you enjoyed the game and our Paws. Good luck next week!

We loved the "Paws" and I especially liked seeing the former Plano lettermen down on the field for the team "run through". I thought that was a great idea!:D

Congratulations to Southlake Carroll Senior High School. The team took care of business and notched yet another win.

Thought all associated with Southlake Carroll and Plano represented themselves well at last week's game.

Good luck to the Dragons this Saturday against Lufkin.
