View Full Version : New Braunfels All State D
WOW. New Braunfels placed four players on the All State defensive squad and did not even make the playoffs. How did they ever get scored on? Has this ever happened before?

New Braunfels was a prime example of having individual talent that just did not play well with each other. And it's not that they did not get along and made it all about them but there are just some teams that never seem to come together like they can....All four of these kids will be outstanding in college.

NB was 5th place just on the outside looking in for a playoff spot. I think it might also have to do with NB's lack of offensive firepower that kept them from the playoffs. In 26-5A, offense seems to be important when you are facing tough D's every week. NB has a good defensive performance in district (save for the Reagan game).

austin media covering new braunfels is just austin stretching to include another quality program to claim.
new braunfels is just a short 10 min drive outside of san antonio city limits.

NB has kids on the All-state team all the time, regardless of record because of this. They ALL-WAYS have a DB, no matter how good their team is!

The statesman covers Canyon and NB as Austin area teams, but they don't cover SV! They don't deliver papers to SV, so SV gets no coverage in the paper. Get your facts correct KID!

Good point; I think sometimes people forget that. I consider NB to be a SA team, though I read the AAS articles too.

I know NB isnt a world beater, but with the exception of probably 2005, I think NB usually fields salty teams :D

LOL when did I say they did...I'm not talking about paper coverage I'm talking about you trying to take New Braunfels playoff success over the past years in Austins corner because the statesman covers them when it was argued that who was better of the two cities between Austin and SA....But here is a fact for you SV-2,phlugerville-1
And here is the post where you tried to count NB as an Austin area team http://www.5atexasfootball.com/forum/vB/showthread.php?t=39593&page=8 Please exit stage left after that embarrassment

The defense pulled the weight for the team. NB kept tight games in district because the defense played so spotlessly. The offense struggled some, but the team wasn't too far from making the playoffs. In fact, NB gave up at least one offensive touchdown per game and lost two games by less than a touchdown (Madison and Roosevelt).

who cares what the austin american statesman claims...N.B. is N.B. they are their own city...they do play in 26-5A and that is mostly the San Antonio area teams...so if you had to say one way or the other it would have to be San Antonio..however they did get a lot more love on the all state teams then i personally thought they should have...Askew,Green, from Madison was left off and so was Brown from SV..Walls from Reagan...shamefull Allstate team..

Those All-State teams are chosen by Coaches that care to respond so out of the 220 5A coaches in the state if only 10 coaches respond than that's how the players get picked not a true representation. The baseball All -State selections are more of a joke, though.:mad:

how Nate Askew was left out, is anybodies guess? He'll be in the top 10 reciever watch list next year, if not All American watch list and he didn't even make Hon. mention. I think The Allstate teams just like the top 10 teams in most polls are ridiculous and full of Homers. After Wort went down against Madison what did he do that Mad. and missed so much playing time and still didn't make PO's how did he get in???
I'm not trying to sound like a homer. But if a kid doesn't make 1st. team all district but does get on All-state Team? Or if he makes All-American but doesn't make 1st. or 2nd. team All State???
