Cove/Lufkin game attendance

Great game Lufkin!!! You beat us at a great game of football.. Ill be looking forward to a rematch next year..:) I would like to hear comment on the crowd numbers as this was the biggest game I'v ever been to.. High school that is..

I haven't heard any numbers officially. The Lufkin radios guys estimated over 23,000. I wish I was there. The way the radio guys reacted it sounded like #90 got de-cleated. Sounds like everyone got their money's worth last night.

It's hard to tell when you are on the visitor side....but the reserved seats on the homeside were about half full........and then you could tell alot of non-people were at the game that weren't from Lufkin. they got some of the locals also. I would say about 7,000-8,000 on that side.

Just from looking at the stands, it was about equal though. I know we had a lot of non Lufkinites on our side that came just to see a good game which they did.
Great game Cove. Probably the first game I've seen with that much talent on boths sides of the ball. It was a ceertainly the most speed I've ever seen. You guys have nothing to hang your head about. It was back and forth to the end. I imagine this game will be repeated next year as well.
You have great fans and I think it inspired the Lufkin bunch to see that excitement again.

9,000 sounds low to me. WISD hold 10,000. There were significantly more on both sides at the Lufkin/SLC game last year. I'll guess 7,500 on home side (Lufkin) and 6,000 on visitors side (Cove) - but, I'm no expert.

Whatever happened the radio guys got so busy talking about it they forgot about the play. I was sittin here yelling,"What happened on the play!?" to the radio. lol

Anyway, good luck Cove and we'll see ya next year. (Hopefully. Realignment pending.)

9000 LOL Lufkin averages close to 10,000 every home game and you are telling me there was only 9 there last night. Crazy stupid!!

THere was well over 10,000 at that game. That is one of the fastest defenses we have seen, could not turn the corner on those "dawgs".You have seen what the pack can do when their backs against the wall.Lufkin has been there so many times and it showed. Now our qb is out so we got to suck it up and go next week. Cove you guys have a great football team.:)

VB pack fan Turner, Kibble, and Claybon Especially Turner, turned the corner all night long. Turner had 13 carries for 168 yards and Lufkin had 500 plus total yards on the night. They were fast though. The LP O-line was dominant at times.

I say 18 to 20. I might be off some but is was well over 10,000. Like i said, Lufkin averages very close to 10,000 on all big home games. There was a lot more there then 10 last night.

Congrats Lufkin on a great game and the win.

Here are some of my thoughts on the game.

Lufkin was able to turn the corners on the sweeps because of the blocking of the Wide Receivers. They did a great job. Fastest defense that I have seen all year. The front 7 were fast and all over the field. I was not as impressed with the DB's play as I though I would be for Lufkin. I know I'm not the first person to say that on this board. DB play will be very important when you play SLC. If you don't get any pressure on SLC QB they will hurt you. I hope that the Lufkin QB will be OK. It was a pretty bad break. It happen right in front of where I was.

Cove played a great game. I don't think that it being their first time this deep in the playoffs mattered much. The fumble by Cove and the Int by Lufkin were to only turnovers. Lufkin dominated the first half. I had some concerns of it becoming a blowout. Cove made some great adjustments at half-time. Cove came out throwing the ball in the second half and I think that loosened up the defense to allow the running game to start to work. Buchram's 63 yard TD run was something. Once he got past the LB's he wasn't being caught. With that run he tied the Cove school record with the most TD's in a season with Vontez Duff (Former Dawg, Notre Dame, and Pro player).

Just my thoughts. Cove dawg fans we had a great season.

Lufkin good luck against SLC. I'm sure it will be a great game.

he is def. wrong... WISD only holds around 11,500... we had quite a few more people than that on hand. maybe if we sat people on the grass by the endzones we MAY have gotten em all in there

I agree with Lonny. The stadium holds 50,000 and it looked like it was half full so I'd say definetly over 20,000.
