What will happen if they play Southlake Carroll, I guess it is ok anyway, they just need alot of defense for that game.

A great junior yr for J Claybon. Broke Reggie McNiels single season TD school record.

The Cove offense is not a bunch of slackers thats for sure. They appeared to be well balanced. In the second half, they had their way with the LP D. SLC must be licking their chops right now. ;)

lufkin's got a solid ground game with Kibble and Turner. The receivers will make it somewhat comfortable for b/u qb Ralph Thomas. However, b4 tonight, Thomas hadn't seen 5 snaps or so....next wk will be a nail biter.

During the game the announcers said on more than one occasion that Hewitt was not 100%.... what is the problem? They will definitely need him if facing SLC passing game.

outlaw is quick to credit another team, he said we stopped cove in their tracks the whole first half, then we sat on our butts and let them push us around. outlaw says cove didn't adjust much at the half, our D just took a break. We can't let that happen next wk. it's a 4 quarter game.

I noticed Hewitt limping last week against South Garland as well, I kinda wonder if its that acl he tore last season coming back

There's a good reason Hewitt isn't receiving the type of attn from the big time D1 schools that he probably should..

Some say it's the ACL.. Some say it's grades.. I don't think which, but where there's smoke, there's usually fire.

I think that kind of injury it takes 2 full years to come back from ala Willis McGahee.

it was not near as serious as willis mcgahee. Hewitt was able to come back and play just a few weeks after the injury against Carroll. If you saw the play that mcgahee blew ut his knee on, you would know that coming back in a couple of weeks was just not possible

they usually sell them at the schools and at the gate at the stadium. I think there is a 1 dollar discount on adult tickets if they are purchased early. I am not sure about student ticket presales, but all tickets at the gate are 10 dollars.

Didnt say it was as serious. I think McGahee tore his ACL and MCL. But sometimes it takes more than a year to be back to 100% from a serious a knee injury.

Anyone else that was at the game see #90 for Cove get absolutely destroyed on that block...

I have watched a lot of football this season... and that was by far the biggest hit I have seen at any level...NCAA and NFL included.

Homeboy got JACKED UP! I mean feet up in the air...helmet flying 10 yards one way...and mouth piece flying the other way...
It was a HUGE hit.

That's a serious misstatement if it's what he said. Cove definitely made adjustments, most notably in their playcalling. The 1st half was filled with plays that took forever to develop, playing right into Lufkin's speed on defense. In the 2nd half, however, Cove went to more quick hitting and misdirection plays that either took the speed element out of the equation or had the Lufkin D pursuing the wrong player as the one with the ball ran the opposite direction.

Number 90 got jacked twice.

Once by Shankle where his earpiece flew out of his helment and his helment flew off.

The other by Ralph, this time his mouthpiece went flying.

That dude will be having nightmares for awhile..

I saw no major problems with Leonard - but yes, he did not look 100% - I think it's probably just 14 weeks of football - not sure at this point - sorry.

I got a little misty-eyed reading about Jeremy this morning - we could only speculate from the stands and didn't know for sure - but were hoping he'd be ok. What a great kid and terrific year for Jeremy - single season TD record holder for Lufkin! He will be very special next year.

Is this a premature gesture?

It's possible. Look Thomas was a WR so he knows the receiver routes. The big question mark will be how he reads the defenses. If he reads well, then he will make smart decisions with the ball.

It took Claybon almost the whole year to develop his defense reading skills. Thomas will have to be a quick study thats for sure.

No word from my end - his dad has been touch and go for a couple of weeks - keep the family in your prayers. Not sure what the illness is - but he's been in the hospital for a while - 2+ weeks I believe.

Devastating loss!! That is the one guy i always said Lufkin could not lose. Last year it would have been ok because Lufkin had a very good backup that was just as good or better as the starter. Not only is Ralph extremely inexperienced at qb but it takes a major wr away. Thad Gordon is going to have to step it up like he did last night. It is the SLC curse!! Last year one of the best hs cb's in the nation Hewitt(Highly recruited Sakatha) tore his ACL completely and this year we lose our record setting stud qb. OH Sakatha you need to start studying up before you post. After the Oulaw post a few weeks ago and this Hewitt post i am starting to wonder about you? ;) Hewitt is not 100 percent no doubt. He is a little gimpy. Hewitt is usually up in your grill like a big time corner should be but he was giving big cushions last night. That tells me he is not close to 100 percent. Either way huge loss and it looks like the SLC curse will continue. Lufkin needed everybody to be 100 percent to have a shot to beat SLC. It would have been possible but now i am extremely worried. OH, all i can say about J Turner is #12 is i told you so. I have told yall about him all year. He is finally at 100 percent and he is a stud. The offensive line was the MVP last night though. They blew cove off the ball most of the night.

You know Pack08 I said something similar last night and people jumped all over my case. I totally agree with you. Don't get me wrong Ralph is a great athlete. Hell. I have been watching the kid since he was 5 years old for crying out loud. However, Jeremy had developed so much over the course of the past month in terms of his defense reading skills. To have something like this happen at this point of the season is just devastating.

Now, if it happened a couple of weeks ago, then things might not be so bad.

However, Ralph has the skills to step up. If Jeremy can do some sort of Vulcan mind meld into Ralph to transfer his field general skills, then things may be ok.

Ralph has the necessary athleticism and throwing ability.

It is just a huge loss that is the fact stang i do not know why somebody would give you a hard time. Claybon is turning into a major star and shattered Reggie's qb td record. This would be like Lufkin losing Reggie in 2001 before the state semis. Huge Loss no matter who you look at it. I am not saying Lufkin cannot get it done but i sure do not feel as good. You would have to be an ignorant football fan not to realize this hurt's.
