While I have trouble believing that - I certainly acknowledge (see my thread on black coaching numbers that went on for 12+ pages) that old, rich, white alumni are pretty much in charge around most athletic depts. If anyone has a doubt about that - look at the lunacy of Auburn's recent hire.

From everything I hear and have read, both of these guys are nothing but class acts that are very capable of leading programs to success.

Character of their hearts, as well as some coaching ability... that's what should matter! not that other crap!

As somebody who was in one, I like them. I've run into enough good and bad people of all races that it doesn't matter to me. Sure, I get mad about some characteristics that are generally tied to various races, but that says nothing about how I've come to appreciate people for who they are and not what they look like.

One would hope this wouldn't have anything to do with one's qualifications to be SERIOUSLY considered for a head coaching job .... but there has been a law (obviously not enforced) banning interracial marriages on the State books in AL all the way up until 2000. When it was put on the ballot to be removed it only passed by around 59% (I believe) which is absurd but indicates that some in the state are not ready to accept such unions. No one knows what discussions were held behind closed doors by those in power but I believe it was the AD who said 'Chizik was the right fit' for Auburn. Obviously there are many, including Auburn supporters/fans/Alumni, that question his qualifications has a head coach so it would be interesting to see what was meant by the right 'fit'.
