We have played against Katy..err my team has before I was on varsity and lost to them a year ago barely at Reliant. They did have class the whole game except their qb (gayheart i think it was). He got pissy towards the end. Other than that most of the teams we played in district had class too. Especially Cove...which is why i dont like stuff being said about them after a great game.

Congratulations to Cove the team played hard and this one could have went either way. T82nd got banned if I am not mistaken. So dont try pay him back he wont see it anyway. We took some hard hits and dished some out. Lufkin proved we are not a one-man team. They rallied together to put this one away in the 4th. To say we have beat Cove is a trophy and feather in our cap. They are an awsome team. They brought it but so did we. Boils down to this was a battle.

Champ, that one is bad taste, too. Anybody that sticks their neck out there to make a prediction is going to be wrong sometimes. I've never liked people hiding out and attacking others mistakes when they don't make picks. I'm an easy target, too. I always ask people why don't they say something and see if it comes true. It's not an exact science picking these games.

Just got back from the game. Big crowd, great atmosphere. Cove represented well. They played Lufkin, what did you expect? Lufkin has a lot of speed but I saw some on the other side too.
In my opinion, this game was really never in doubt. I never had the feeling that Cove had enough horsepower to win the game. They made it interesting, but Lufkin always broke the mo after Cove seemed to get things going. I have to say this and I don't want to make anyone mad because it's just my observation. Lufkin better find some corners and safeties that can cover before next week. There were too many times the Cove WR's got behind the defense. It's a good thing the balls were dropped or not on target or there might not be a next week for the Panthers. One thing is for sure though, there won't be a lot of dropped balls next week and you can bet they'll be on target. Fun game. I finally got to see a Lufkin game! I also saw a couple of KT fans in the stands too.

And they proved it again tonight. Lufkin had superior talent, but I highly doubted neither team was gonna blow the other one out.

Anyways, I'll be rooting for the Pack the rest of the way and hopefully we can continue this next year. Same time, different place. Floyd Casey sucked, as another thread said.

I liked FCS it was the best field I ever played on. Come on Lufkin did have Cove against the ropes and had a chance to really throw the KO punch but Claybon went down. But congrats to Cove and your QB was amazing.

And Cove only has 12 yards rushing in the first half and 77 yards of offense...so you could say the Pack had them on the ropes. But they fought back like champions and put a scare into the Panthers. I listened and Cove never gave up. LP would go up by 14, but Cove would come back. I think it was 28-21 when Claybon got hurt and that's not woodshed territory even if they did score a TD to go up 35-21.

I am just curious to know how many games you have seen this year and what teams you watched.The answer is zero and it doesn't take watching a game THIS year to know that SLC scores a bunch and you have to keep their receivers covered. I didn't mean to imply Lufkin has a bad defense, because I know they have talent on that side. I only wanted to imply that they need good pass coverage to beat SLC or it will potentially get ugly. Outlaw is a good coach and I don't think he'll have his boys giving that much of a cushion on defense.

Also, i do not know how far back you go for your record in TS, but i know LP has lost PO games there.

Nope, we have only played at TS once. Great game cove. I said early on this could go ether way and it could have. As far as SLC is concerned I told a couple of Katy guys in whataburger that I hoped the panthers would play them in a couple of weeks. The reality is that SLC is the 96000 lb gorilla that is in the way. Oh well. If we lose, it's SLC and everyone loses to them. If we win (not likely) we are dragon slayers. We have given SLC two of the best 4 or 5 games that they have had since coming to 5A I hope this will be a good one as well.

Sorry, but I disagree with you completely. A double standard would be saying that this thread was OK when the other one wasn't. I know y'all took alot of crap from some Cove fans last week, but the ultimate 'smack' for you guys is the scoreboard. The best way to get back at them is to be respectful in victory...that will dig at those people even worse than stooping down to their level. Sorry, I know many of you find that bland and boring, but that's how we, as administrators, would prefer things to go.

Your opinion won't get you banned...it doesn't work like that. I'm just saying that starting a thread like this after you guys got so riled up about a very similar thread seems childish. Throwing it back in their face is the natural reaction, but that doesn't make it right. If all of the people on the site want to get into to these sort of threads, then this board would be no better than any of the other boards you can find much more easily...and I, and many others, would want to read it. We'd like to think our members are mature enough to maintain a higher standard of discussion.

All that said, I know threads like these will always be around, especially during the playoffs, when emotions are high and when we have passionate fans on here...obviously we want people to be passionate...but try to be respectful about it. Some people think 'smack' of this sort is a necessary part of the whole thing...so, whatever. I just hope we can minimize it. Myself, as an administrator, I will try to lead by example.

Fair enough Champ. Nobody on this board has ever heard me talking smack about any team. This thread was just a response to the Cove fans who posted the same thing about us a week before the game was even played. It also bothers me that all this talk of love and sportsmanship was never mentioned once when the post was made about Lufkin or the three prior weeks before that. When Lufkin was told their turn-in date was Dec. 5 all I heard was a cries of concurrence from many people on this board that Lufkin should indeed begin looking ahead to next year. Now that Lufkin has won the game (and it was a great game between two great teams) I am villified for making the same comments about Cove. That's a double standard any way you look at it.

Ok newbie since you are new to this board I will cut you a little slack. It is obvious you don't know who coined the nickname T82 for pop up smack talkers like yourself. I am one of the many Lufkin fans who have shown respect to a lot of SLC members in this forum and they have done the same towards us. Learn why before you run your mouth. SLC has played those so called panzy panthers twice and both could were tied 30-30 with under 2 minutes left and could have went other way. Most realistic SLC fans have big time respect for LP and Lufkin respect's SLC. refs bailing us out?? Just stupid. Lufkin outgained Cove 237 to 70 in the 1st half and 525 to 330 for the game. Lufkin had 28 first downs to Cove's 14. But the ref's bailed them out?? :rolleyes: Do me a favor and grab a clue. I agree yall got a big break when our star qb went down. You still have to beat Plano first.
