He was the old coach at Austin Westlake when they were one of the top teams in Texas.
He left after his son graduated and went to play for Texas A&M.

His son left to A&M. But, I also think that Westlake added some collateral duties to his AD/Coaching position that he wasnt happy with and that with his son graduated added up to "Bye Bye" to Westlake a couple of years ago.

I won't believe it until i see a link. There are so many better coaching positions out there for Schroeder than Cedar Park, I dont see why he would settle. And if has officially happened, all i can say is wow  . Your rival that has never had any kind of athletic history now with one of the most legendary coaches i the state of Texas, thats just great lol.

Yeah, scooter, I think he was at Georgetown. I think this offseason has been like "insert well known coach here heading to Cedar Park"

No, Georgetown hired the OC from Abilene High.
Schroeder was one of the candidates.
He is now going to be the head coach at Cedar Park.

I don't think anyone on here has a clue as to who the coach is. If it were Schroeder then it would have been announced. Just hopefully it is someone announced soon and someone that is competitive in the district and that CP doesnt take a step backwards. :)

It has not been announced yet...but trust me..it's Schroeder........i'm never wrong on these type of things.
There is always a first.....but i'll put money on it. :D
He's a perfect fit for CP.....look for them to do some very good things in the future.

I'd be very surprized if this turns out to be true.
What makes you think it is a perfect fit? It is not a single high school district, they split their kids from the middle schools, he lives in Oak Hill, his son will be a big part of the offense at a&m next year, and he will have had no chance to implement his system already.
Add to that that Cedar Park's cuppard is bare, and I don't see anything perfect about it.

Centex, wasn't it you that said the GTown job was Schroeder's. I thought it was you that made the first post on that subject a while back. I'd wait to hear from Statesman, 1300 am, or a news station before I believe he would take that big of a step back.

Dang man you missed that one bad. No problem though. We all have some opportunities to be wrong. Makes you want to question your sources a little better though!

Dang, I was really hoping that we would see this subject pop up in a few weeks with another coaches name in front of "headed to Cedar Park." :D
Oh well, the guessing game is over.

He's the HC at Wichita Falls High SchoolWTF? He's got to be crazy. I guess he doesn't know what he has here at Old High. Maybe gettin his rear end handed to 'em by Rider drove him to do this move. God bless him, I really don't think he's in his right mind right now.

LeanderLions I dont think Schroeder is needed to bring Cedar Park to life....if memory serves me correctly they went undefeated in district last year including knocking Leander out of the playoffs......I know they lost some folks but still do have some returning players and I guess to be the best you have to beat them

Besides Daniel Dilworth, Brandon Houg, Tre Hawkins, and the bear brothers, who else do they have coming back thats worth anything. I also left out Tyler Smith, he'll be a good one. They lost their starting qb (aka their team, all world qb Korey Washington) their starting rb (led the district in rushing yards) leading reciever (Trevor Mygeto) starting tight end (the man that put the dagger in our hearts :( :D Tyler Farst), Kyle Williams, Shawn Graham, Albert Johnson, all these were the heart and soul of this team. Who do they have to replace that? The senior class coming up is fairly weak compared to the other teams senior classes in our district. Last year our Juniors clearly carried our team, and you won the game because of a fumble. Sour grapes? yeah ill admit that i have a little, but thats long gone and its a new season now and i really dont think you will have very much production next year.

LeanderLions you are correct...Cedar Park won because of a fumble caused late in the game by Brandon Haug....who is a junior. I dont doubt the fact that Leander will have a good offense and Cedar Park will have to change offenses without the backfield they had but then again it only opens up the passing game and they do have a heck of a passing QB and a good upcoming receiving corp but most of all the defense anchored by Dilworth, one of the best coverage corners in the district, Hawkins, one of the better defensive linemen and Haug, one of the hardest hitting linebackers in district (if you were to ask Javorski Lane from Lufkin) will anchor a young but full of heart defense that will prove to be the key again....go ahead and continue overlooking like last year (hmmm was last years record 7-0)

Don't think we overlooked Cedar Park last year. We would be fools to have overlooked yall after yall had rapped up the district title the week before against pville. Like I said, Daniel is a stud, Brandon is a stud, and Tre Hawkins will get the job done, and Tyler Smith will be a stud if he is like his older brother in any way. But where would you personally rank cedar park in district next year, without being a homer?

Ok....well if I pick with my head then I would pick them early to be 3rd or 4th in district....but as they move through district I do think they can have the same kind of late success that McNeil had last year....the schedule always gets tough having Pflugerville and Leander at the end but then again probably as it should be....I do think that overall 15-5A is showing a lot of people that they are good and that there are several teams in this district that can beat about anyone.....that said we will root for our cross town neighbors in all but one game this year....... :) hopefully it will be another classic as last year was. Good luck and have a good season Leander.....

Missybo, How did CP's JV do last year? That should weigh heavily in your prediction, because they lost fundamentally all of their production from last year's 7-0 distrcit team to graduation. Another thing to think of, is if they have so much coming back, why was Weaver so eager to go into administration. If you know anything about coaching, that should be a big red flag for what he thought were his own team's chances this coming year. I know I wouldn't leave so easily if I thought I had a pretty good team coming back.

Did Coach Schroeder do the same type of thing at Westlake? Did he realize that his district wins record would end? What does this say about a coaches character when they leave coaching a team when things look like they are going to be tough in the future. I think the old Temple coach (Tam H.) did the same thing. His first year he made the playoffs his second year the team went 2-8 overall 1-6 in district. Temple's JV teams didn't do well either year. Then he left...
Just some thoughts.....

The year Coach Schroeder retired, Westlake advanced to the State Semi-Finals, so no, it was not the same thing. And retiring is different than job-hunting.
