I want to be sensitive here . . . . .

On the final drive of the game today,
Matt Brown ran two plays. On the second,
of those two plays, he ran for six yards and
was tackled hard. He left the field with his left
arm hangin' limp. He's done.(Nuf sed about that!)

Matt Brown, as a resident of Allen, Texas I want
to thank you for for giving your ALL to get the
team to the point to where it could make the run
it is enjoying.

Without you getting us through district 8-5A . . . . .
We would NOT be playing in Houston for the
state championship!

You are the MAN. It might hurt to not be out there
making the plays, but -once again- it is because
of you that the dreams of each team member might
come true next Saturday night.

Hold your head HIGH young man.

YOU are just as much an important part of the Allen Team
as everyone else that straps 'em on.

THANK YOU MATT - you are an inspiration to us all ! ! ! !

yep. Remember earlier in the season? Gotta get some time and perspective, and then appreciate what these young men give to play this game. We sometimes forget they are just high school kids.

Nicely said and done. I too congratulate you Matt on a season well-played. wishing you a state championship ring....

It was tough watching that, as I know Matt is a true competitor and wanted nothing more than to help his team win today. But, Allen truly wouldn't be here without his play this year. And, we will ALL look forward to seeing you down in Houston, cheering everyone on, and on the field again next season!

True that

im a little disappointed in westerbergs decision to put him...3 minutes left in the game and NOW you put him and on top of that he isn't at full strength....i know matt is a true competitor but come on put the kid's health and safety first he wasn't ready to play yet even though he was cleared it was obvious....you played your butt off this year matt and we got one more year

I can't believe you'd stick a cold QB into a competitive semi-final with three minutes left. I won't say any more because I don't know all the circumstances, but that doesn't seem very fair to the player from an outsider vantage point.

No matter what any of us might think about the decission to put Matt in, it is clear to me the great intensity and drive on his part to contribute to the team's victory. I'd like to focus on what Allendad said and what is yet to be accomplished

I couldn't agree more about Matt's contribution to this team. He has been a great leader for this team and even though he is one of the wounded warriors, I know I don't consider him "out". I know what you meant when you say "OUT" I just want to build upon that.

This Allen team belongs to all of the guys and Matt's contribution along with Richard's, then George and Zach on the sidelines today, Cody when he had to be out for a couple games, Eazy, Jeremy, Brandon the list goes on. These kids have had each others back to a level that is befitting of a team playing for a state championship!!

The fact that Richard, Matt, George & Zach have to rely on their teammates to carry them accross to the final goal makes it even more important for them to continue their leadership roles on this team. They are in the best position of any of the players to keep everyone focused and intense.

This team NEEDS THEM NOW MORE THAN EVER!!!

Every member of the team makes it accross the line or none of them do!!

There is unfinished business.

START STRONG!! FINISH STRONG!!

Same injury which caused the pain, but overall now looking back it appeared Matts two plays changed the D a little to make the winning play possible. Which was Tuckers pass to Dakarai for the win. Matt was in a lot of pain after that but was elated in helping the team win. Tucker and Matt seemed spectacular on the field and off. Talking to him after the game he was just happy to be part of the win. Hats off to everything he has down this year.:notworthy

I think there was a theory to the "madness"...

Allen didn't have much success rushing against Stony Point (One of the best defenses I have seen this year), and I think Coach wanted to get someone in there who could just get a few quick rushes and the defense wouldn't expect it, especially since he's still nursing a "sore" shoulder. Do you really put him in to run? I wouldn't have guessed that in 1.5 million years. I think the theory was to get him a few rushing plays, get the ball to midfield, rush once more on 1st down, then fling the ball down field and try to catch someone in the secondary sleeping.

Don't think things work out so well for Allen without Matt Brown's appearance on the final drive.

The Stony Point defense had been putting the hurt on the Allen offense. The offense needed a spark, and Matt Brown's big heart gave it to them.

His effort and example showed what it's like to leave it on the field.

i bet matt was the one that wanted to be on that field and coach let him. he showed true courage and spirit. IMO if not for that allen would be watching the state final from home.............................................. ...................

Are you referring to the Allen STP game? Because we were down by 4 with a little over 2 minutes to play when Matt was put in.

I hear you and I'd be concerned as well, but I think he won the game for them.

I think Westerberg put him in as a desperation move to try to pull out a win. He ran the 2 plays and valiantly got about 7 or so yards before he had to go out, but I think it inspired the team and the sub QB.......I think Matt Brown's appearance was a "Win one for The Gipper" type moment that inspired the team to victory....or at least that's the feel it had as I listened to the game on my mail route last Saturday.....Allen was dead in the water, at least it appeared to me, and Matt Brown saved the day with his little 7 yards.

I think in years down the road, his appearence will be something talked about for a long time, as a motivational event, if Allen wins it all.

Great post Owl!! Hope was fading fast and when I looked up and saw Matt in there, I just knew something was going to happen. It gave me hope and did inspire the team to rally around him there at the end. If a player is willing to risk it all just to help his team for one fleeting moment, he's got the teams best interest in his heart!! :notworthy:notworthy Way to go Matt and thanks for all the great memories this year and for bringing us to the playoffs! ;)

Matt Brown is one of the main contributors of Allen's success this year. He was inserted into the game to catch SP off guard. The first play was a QB draw by design and the second may have been Matt trying to do something for his team with his heart. He is a competitor, just like the group of guys he goes out there with everyweek.

I know we need to get this year over first, but I have a question. What's the plan next year with the qb's ( both qb's will be sr.'s I believe). Who is riding the pine????
