He could have run up the score in the 28-7 win over Clark but he decided to call off the dogs when the game was in hand.
Total class. Unlike the Bob Stoops garbage of running up scores.
Congrats Hightower and good luck at State.
And congrats Clark on a very great season.

well said.
Clark was the final team standing in San Antonio this year. The Cougars are the champions of Region 4 and San Antonio.
Clark is the best this city had to offer this year.
Great job, Clark.
Great. Job.

The INT that blunted Clark's best chance at staying competitive was key, but overall it looked like HT was simply larger and faster (or something like that). I can't say the pumas made very many mistakes. HT simply had answers to most of what Clark had been pretty good at doing all season. Overall, the game was still a good effort by Clark.

Close, they weren't larger. Our guys are strong, tough, athletic, and have great legs...but in all honesty we don't have many hogs on the line.

Amen to that -- after the game, I was thinking we held 'em scoreless in the 2nd half, but "upon further review" I realized they pulled their horns in and were playing subs for much of the 2nd half (programs sold out quickly so I really had no idea who was playing when, but it felt like they had subs playing).
Despite the heart & effort our boys gave, I really think it could've been much worse.
Good luck in the final.

I think the main difference in the 2nd half was that FBH quit passing the ball and was content to just run. They did sub some running backs. But definitely a class act by coaches of FBH in 2nd half.
I am a Clark fan and was proud of our kids effort, but FBH had awesome speed on defense.
GREAT season for both schools.
Go Hightower, WIN STATE !!!!

We don't vote for champions, he has a game to play next week for the D1 trophy! Stoops had to win votes!

I'm going to respectfully disagree. I think he played it smart, running out the clock - knowing he could go to the passing game at will.
The Hurricane players are completely deserving of this win. And I am rooting for them to win state against Allen.

kbarj, If you think for one minute the Hightower coaches teach or tolerate illegal chop blocks you are completely out of your mind. I can assure you Coach Hallmark addressed this with lineman in question.

What is an illegal chop block? I'm no fan of 'em but I thought they were legal in the high school game--at least in Texas.

Cut n paste from eSSORTMENT:
--------------
The cut block is when an offensive football player attempts to get a defensive player to the ground by diving at his feet and ankles rather than his upper body. This technique, however, borders the thin line between making a good block and maybe injuring someone.
Cut blocks are legal mainly in the open field. This allows the defensive player an opportunity to avoid or hurdle the block. The main area in which a cut block is not legal is in the trenches. The trenches are considered the area where offensive and defensive linemen square off against one another at the line of scrimmage.
Now, it's obviously very easy for an offensive lineman to make a block on a defensive lineman by chopping him at the line of scrimmage. But with the amount of injuries that have occurred over the years from cut blocks, rules have changed making the cut block at the line of scrimmage illegal and will result in a penalty.
Cut blocks are also illegal to perform against a player that is already engaged in a block with another player.
