It was a down year for Region 4 as a whole and what I mean about it is that at the time when you watch Region 4 teams play against each other they looked solid, but where just missing something. Like SV I thought they had a great defense but their offense was not as good as the past SV offenses. Just the opposite for Clark great offense, OK defense. I hope next year is a better year for Region 4, Roosevelt, Madsion, Clark and SV all have a ton of talent coming back.

I want to congratulate 4 of the 5 teams for being on the right side of I-35! I loved watching Canadian crush Mart!:D Cisco and Stratford can join Borden County, Strawn, Canadian, and Muleshoe and give West Texas half of the 12 titles this year!:cool:

The Longview nightcap wasn't bad, either, but I'm upset that Celina is playing at Texas Stadium on Friday. I wanted the Longview game to be the last high school game at Texas Stadium since I've been a Lobo fan for 30 years and they were playing Denton Guyer. Those teams play in my 2 favorite 4A districts (Guyer with the Denton and Wichita Falls schools and Longview in with Sulphur Springs, Mt. Pleasant, and Texas High). The bookend to that would've been that the first high school game at Texas Stadium was San Antonio Lee (Tommy Kramer) beating Wichita Falls and we all know Lee plays in 26-5A. Now that Texas Stadium is closing maybe Old High can get back to a title game!:D

As far as the upcoming week, I'll root for:

Allen over Hightower and it will happen.
Wylie over Katy and it might not happen.

Longview over Lake Travis and it probably won't happen.
It almost pains me to say it, but Sulphur Springs over Dayton and it will happen.

Carthage over Celina, but I'm not banking on it.

Cisco over Daingerfield, but those bums are playing too good right now.

Stratford over Cayuga and they should win.

Those East Texas teams hit close to home for me because they played Pittsburg and Mt. Pleasant in various sports when I was in school. I still love Longview (Even though I lost to them in soccer!) and I never have truly hated Carthage, although they did beat Mt. Pleasant in the baseball Quarterfinals in 90. I've never had any love for either Daingerfield or Sulphur Springs as bitter rivals for Pittsburg (Daingerfield) and Mt. Pleasant (Both teams), but at the end of the day, I can root for Sulphur Springs over a Houston team, but I'm sure not going to root for Daingerfield over a West Texas team and I don't think I can root for them. I hate that town!:D

Of course, the West Texas teams hit a note with me, too. My grandmother lived in Canadian as a kid and I like Muleshoe. I don't root for Cisco over the teams local to Wichita Falls, but I do like the team and the town. Stratford is one of those teams I'll always root for because they're a Panhandle team that isn't very far from a bunch of towns I've had relatives live in.

Judge away! Regions 1-4 in 5A don't equate to Regions 1-4 in the other classes. The huge metro areas have a large portion of the population and also have schools with a lot of resources. The non-metro areas have more schools, but not as many resources and also face dwindling school populations. I know West Texas is huge, but West Texas also faces a speed disadvantage in many late-season playoff games.

The only thing that matters for the SA/Austin-Houston fight are 4A and 5A and that's 3-1 Houston. Of course, I want all 4 of the teams left to lose!:D
