The principal just made an announcement to the student body that noisemakers are actually against the athletic boad policies and this week they will make you throw them away if you walk in with them and if you start to make noise they will be attempting to throw you out of the game! Just thought I'd warn ya'll!!! See ya Saturday!!:p

I hope that's a joke. If not, that's ridiculous.

It's definitely no joke...he made an announcement over the PA because the athletic board sent him an email about it.:(

what constitutes a noisemaker? I can see outlawing air horns, but bells and shakers are kind of ridiculous

You can still Yell! No, the question is - CAN you still yell?

If the rule makers say that bringing in something other than your own two hands to clap with and two feet to stomp with is against the rules, then so be it.

I am not saying I agree with it.

I am saying that rules are rules.

i heard of this rule before. Alot of teams fans bring in jugs with bearings in it and other noise makers.

To quote Christopher Walkin in the famous SNL skit:

"But we need more cowbell!!"

(sorry, ktcarl, I got here first...)

That's ********... Whoever makes those kind of rules needs their butt kicked.

If you take a pony sized horseshoe and use small wood screws to bind it to your shoe/boot heel, it will make a terrible noise.. There's an idea.

iLUVktFootBaLL
12-02-2005, 01:15 PM
Well he mainly was saying cowbells actually. I love the noise that the fans make...just makes the games that much more exciting!!! This rule sucks!

KTCarl is going have serious problems with this.

I say bring your noisemakers anyways and use them. Wait till they tell you that you cannot and apologize and tell them that you won't do it again. I doubt that they would throw an adult out of a game for ringing a bell especially if everybody in the crowd is doing the same

But what about the megaphones the cheerleaders hand out before the game and after every touchdown? Are those illegal too? And the thundersticks we got at Tully a few weeks ago?

I can see how the blow horns could get annoying with as many points as katy scores. Peoples ears could really start to hurt!! ;) As for things that don't hurt peoples ears... I think they should be allowed.

I guess the bands can only play at halftime!:(

I imagine that the product the bands deliver is NOT considered 'noise'. Thus would not be constrained by the consideration.

This view may be a bit presumptuous.

Seriously though - the UIL rules do mention bands and how they are not supposed to be used as disrupt the opposing team.

lol, i didn't know that was a UIL rule. bands always seem to do all they can to help out their team, i know ours does. the allen-slc game is always entertaining. our band (SLC) has 350+ kids in it, and we play on kick offs and everytime they have the ball. the band at allen has 500+. i can guarantee we're both playing anytime we can to distract the teams. guess it worked a little better for us this year than them ;)

I say whoever came up with that idiotic rule should have some Stephenville fans bang some sense into their noggin wih a couple of those triple propane tanks filled with ball bearings.

so - you say the band is reason why SLC won? Guess the best thing to do is to prevent the band from getting into TS this Saturday. :D

Allen's band is the only band I have ever seen draw a flag. When their director first came to Allen a few years ago, he would have the brass players wait until the quarterback would go up to center, then they would let out a loud burst. They tried to anticipate the snap and then blow their horns a few seconds before. Often it would cause the other teams to draw illegal procedure penalties. At first, the other schools in the district and the refs were got off guard. In the second season with the new director, they finally started issuing warnings and finally in a game against Plano they penalized Allen for the band's behavior. I have not seen Allen's band do it again since then.

Also, the game I mentioned above was played in Allen. Since their stadium is small we were sitting with Allen fans around us. They all apologized for the band's behavior. They were genuinely embarrassed by it.

haha, well no, not exactly...

though i hear that eye of the tiger on the kick off does get the player's adrenaline going :)

and trust me, you couldn't keep us out of TS with a small army. we'll be there

We were talking about this "no noise makers" rule up here at work. We decided that if the concessionstand is selling pops in the 20oz bottle, buy one, drink it.. then place some pennies in the bottle. Instant shaker. They cant ask the whole fanbase to leave. It would start a riot.

what are you talking about? I am sure that you never go over the speed limit and don't take food and drink anywhere there is a sign that says otherwise.

have they outlawed Stephenville's cans with the bb's or whatver they put in them? those are loud. i have been on the field at Texas Stadium during a couple of their games. very, very loud.

seems like if you can not have man made noise makers, those should be outlawed.

no, but people break rules all the time and it is not dragon ethics. SeeingRed is perfect everybody. He has never done anything wrong. Brining in a noisemaker and getting away with it is fine. I do not see anything wrong with that

I have located the UIL ruling on noisemakers and it basically says that they are not allowed AT INDOOR EVENTS.

Per the KISD Athletic department, this came about as a mutual agreement between the two coaches and is in the contract for the game.

Can anyone verify?

part of the contract? so if the katy fans start up with noise makers they breach the contract and thus forfeit?

I think this whole thing was started just as exploring the space with more cowbell. Seems to have grown larger than the space!

Oh - and DragonFootballFan & SeeingRed... break it up. Everyone is just soooo sensitive! http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y60/okiebikergirl/emotes/6b1e1fe4.gif
