Okay, I want to buy a sofa, loveseat, chair and ottoman, but have no clue where to start. I want leather, but don't want to spend $4000 to $5000 either. I saw the faux leather at Ashley, and it looked good and was about $2300 for all the pieces.

Does anyone know about brands, companies, etc. that could give me some input. I've always heard there are huge mark ups in furniture and you should be able to negotiate the price down, but don't know if this is true.

I live in Houston, but would spend the gas money to go as far as San Antonio or Austin for a great deal.

Get the real stuff. And have your cat declawed.

If you cannot or don't want to spend the $ for all the pieces at once, buy them one at a time, but understand that the finished set may not match perfectly if you don't buy them together.

A GOOD set of leather furniture will last you for YEARS and YEARS and YEARS and you will eventually get sick of it before it wears out or becomes uncomfortable.

This I know.

Furnishings are not my area of Expertise. I would honestly be ok with 2X4's on Cinder Blocks, or an overturned milk crate.

The next level up is a recliner and a tv tray, and if you have a little extra money you can get a city limits sign for your wall.

matching furniture is a place I haven't found yet.

I admit I am not good at interior design or picking out furniture. I didn't get that gay gene. lol

Luckily, I have female friends that know what they are doing. :notworthy

i guess im a cheapie then..me and the wife recently bought a new sofa and recliner from Garden Ridge...we got that vinyl sofa and recliner for a total of 600 dollars...im not much on spending for fancy furniture but it looks nice to us and is comfortable..the sofa was normally $499 but was on sale for $299 and the recliner is very nice and got it on sale for $249...they had all different kinds of material and those sofas that recline too..but if you are wanting fancier furniture then i guess go to Lacks or somewhere like that

It's a racket like mattesses and cars. You can't compare stores because everything is a little different. Understanding that and the shape of the economy, I would take cash and bargain.

You can get 4 electric reclining chairs that are leather and very comfy for 10k.

The wear and tear though, and they can't hold people of certain weight. I'd say bean bags.
