I don't know about the rest of you statewide posters, but I am about full-up with the Katy posters AGAIN this year. Their arrogance and self-rightiousness this year has been just too much.
But, let's think about the team and program for a moment...........
Katy had 6 starters coming back from last year's State Championship team. Lots of talent graduated last year.
They are back again......in the State semi-final. I think I read where this is something like #10 out of the last 11 years?!!! Does that impress you as much as me? OK, one year.....ONE FREAKING YEAR!!!!! they did not make at least the semi-finals. (Pump here, my favorite team stopped them one year:D)......
I am sorry, but that just blows my freaking mind! Katy is good. They may be unfortunate enough to play in a weak region and catch all kinds of grief for it....but, outside of R3.....what have they done? Just win championships is all. We must all pay our respect to the Katy program. They are top notch.
The best ever?!!!

I understand. But, can we talk about one of the greatest programs ever? Anyone that has been on here for more than a season, knows I challenge Katy posters at every oppurtunity. But I am sitting here now in awe.......of their accomplishment this year. It matches several of their past years. YES! They have talent...AGAIN! But this is amazing.:notworthy:notworthy:notworthy

To be honest, there is a bit of self conscienceness(?sp) with so many KT folks...plus the site is run by an alum. And we probably have as many 'run on' posters as anywhere. But hey, we all could have addictions that cost real money.:D
Without spending all day researching, this seems like a good a place as any, that the statewide 5A community can 'talk it out'.
I have been to the Rivals.com, FlaVarsity site. Feels like you are in NYC during rush hour...so much flooding at you (plus a free trial subscription).
Yes, I am from Katy (as of about 30 years ago)...and I like and am proud at what this community has been able to add.
Not perfect, nothing is, but it is what this group of folks can put together.
Friday night seeing multiple generations getting together doing something all can enjoy; kids are with peers, not running around drunk (for that matter perhaps, less chance they will be out on Westheimer booze cruising), there is generally a group norm that is expected ("yes sir, yes maam") that like it or not most kids look to for a level (sense) of safety and security.
And as NSMom said earlier, Katy is not the only community, nor did they invent it.
It is just what we have been able to be a part of or in my case, be part of a stewartship of, during our time off our section of I-10.

I feel your pain, son! My son just hit New Orleans this past weekend because he and his room mate are friends with the punter for the Saints. Stayed in the team's hotel, tickets to the game, pre-game side-line passes. Plus having to get back for finals! He called today and said he made Dean's list again.

I haven't posted on this board for a few years but.......
I agree with you about the amazing Katy "run". People love to talk about Katy not playing anyone; about how weak region three is. Everyone seems to forget that Katy has been a state finalist more times than not and has won 4 State Championships in the last 11 years. In order to do that they have played and beaten some of the "top teams" in the great state of Texas, including San Antonio :notworthyarea teams, east Texas:notworthy teams and even DFW :notworthyarea teams.
I think that you probably know the "regular Katy posters" on this site get a little more "boisterous" at this time of year. IT IS THE PLAYOFFS! :D I believe it is mostly because after you finish the regular season and have listened to all the comments about the team and their three regular season losses and how Katy never plays anyone or has a cakewalk to the state championship every year, you are sick of hearing it and you just get more and more PUMPED UP! Of course more people jump up and talk when the team is doing well. Alot of it is caused by the excitement of the team's growth and maturing as a team. Bear with these people - one way or the other it will be over within a couple of weeks! Until that time............
GO KATY.......BEAT SV!!!
Best of Luck to all still playing!

I have to defend our "one year" that didn't make it to the semis... I was on the 2001 team that got knocked out in the second round. This was a big dissapointment for us following the first 16-0 season Katy ever had, but in our defense we went undefeated in district and were beat by a Houston Madison team with two future NFL stars in the backfield in Vince Young and Cortney Lewis. Not an excuse, mind you, just have to stick up for my senior team!! Classy post CFB2!

We had 6 after Grad last year. During the Spring, 2 quit and one was injured and could not play football. I'm sure he'll be on the baseball field this Spring. Quitting never accomplishes anything but regret. I am speaking from someone who knows that all to well! Many fans and the few players that left didn't give this team a chance this season. I would bet they wish that hadn't made that decision now. Nice post there Booster my friend! Consider this while you are bringing up appearances.....Katy is 2 points in 2004 and 8 points in 2006 from being there that many more times. They were in both of those games to the very end. No matter what happens Saturday, this team has written a pretty good chapter in the history of Katy football:notworthy

Good post, Booster. Although I am tired of seeing this abundance of Katy threads too, I do understand that very few Katy fans actually started them and some have been started as a joke so it's all good.
You HAVE to give this team credit. They were being dismissed after The Woodlands game and many wondered if they would get two deep in the playoffs. I know, I know...cream puff schedule and all. But what did they do to the cream puffs? Destroyed them, that's all. If they had won in close games, I would not be so confident. The next two games will be challenging but I think they will do it. They have come together when it matters most. Like I always say (and many of us do) it's how it ends, not how it begins. I'm impressed. They have my full attention now.
And one other thought for why there are so many Katy posters right now (and many new ones I've noticed). They are still playing....simple as that. They are one of 8 5a teams left.

And don't forget - your quarterback was injured before that game.
The 2001 Katy vs Madison game was played with a back up quarterback that had little to no experience against the mighty two you mentioned.
You probably know my son - he was on that team as well. Heck, you may even know me (his Mom).

You're right King, I have seen 6 starters posted up before, but I think there is only three. Balbuena, Travis, and Tapong ... I'm sure someone can be more exact than I on this, but it really doesn't matter. The Tigers started out very inexperienced and now they are playing very well going into the state semis. I'm very proud of this team and my son for his contribution to the overall top-notch effort.

I am one of the outside doubters of Katy each year thinking that they can't keep doing this. When they barely lost to NS I thought maybe a down year, but not TOO down. you are TOO funny!! I only told you that as a "warning" LOL. I moved out of Langham Creek territory specifically so my kids could go to Falls - I would have moved into a shack for Falls:D. After we moved, in typical CFISD discombobulated fashion, the old neighborhood became Cy Ridge. So, I won on both counts. And now you will win too! I support the teams in CFISD but not necessarily the schools if you know what I mean;).
