Classic Threads Board...need suggestions

Ok guys. I'm going to create a Classic Threads board to preserve the best threads we've had and to keep them from getting lost in the shuffle. I want it to capture not only the really hilarious threads, but also the ones that create the best discussion.

I want your input.

Once we move a thread to the Classics board, should it be locked, or should it allow for more replies?

I want you, the people, to in some way vote for or nominate the threads that get in. How should we do it? I was thinking of something like...requiring 10 votes (via email)...whaddya think?

By the way, credit goes to wide-e for the idea of creating a 5A Texas Football.com Classics board.

If y'all have any other ideas, please share them here...

Lets just vote on here. I say that the thread should be closed once the discussion ends or trails off and then put into a classic. We wouldn't want people posting on it forever.

I think that the new classics board should have two sections. One for nominations where people can post links and polls and the other for the ones in the "hall of fame"

I think the classic threads need to have a permanent home where they don't get lost. I say they should stay open just for the fact that we're going to say more funny stuff and add to the discussion later on. When I post, I say what I want to say and leave it at that. If somebody else posts something, I'll go back and say something else and many people do that.

We need to capture classic quotes, too. I really like some of my posts and I get a huge kick out of some other posts. It's not always a whole thread and might just be some isolated posts in a thread.

how about the last thread from willy wonka. i think that can go down as the absolute worst thread. and it was in some foreign language to boot. the only comments he has gotten are about to improve his english. that thread can go down in the "hall of shame".

Close them. By keeping a once classic thread open for new posts, the latter potions of the thread may take away from it and make it just average and not classic.

I agree with all points above, except with the number of posters we have these days...I would think we would need a higher number than 10 votes to designate it a classic. Just my opinion though.

Doesn't the vBulletin software come witha thread rating capability? That is one idea (take the highest rated threads at the end of the moth or something)

I think they should be locked because you may get cheesy stuff added on to the end...in a perfect world it would be cool to lock out only those not involved in the thread so those talking on it have a chance to continue the conversation. Since i'm pretty sure thats impossible, i say lock them

sounds good..i like this its like a "HOF" type thing and adds more value to the board, keep up the good work!...how about "Poster of the Month" or week, just to give recontion, when they recive that award, you dont have to make them community vet or hof, all it does is make their title "Poster of the Month" for the whole month then it goes bye bye when theres a new one..

It's not my board, but if someone ask my opinion, I would say a lot of what made this board as good as it was has been neutered some. Wide went too far too many times... I can't defend him, but there has to be a place for a little heated back and forth at times. If you can't handle it, go find another thread... there are plenty to pick from.
