Christian Laettner played 13 seasons and averaged 13 pts a game, was once an all-star reserve. Most kids who ever pick up a ball or even get drafted only get to dream of that kind of irrelevance. He's only irrelevant as compared to the astronomical standards set by his college career.

I'm not sure if Tebow will have that solid of an NFL career, but if he did, he'll retire a wealthy man. He'll have made his money playing the game he loves. Sounds good to me.

Ok - semi-relevant. How about Danny Weurfell?

Tebow is the exact opposite of Wuerffel. Wuerffel was not very talented but played in a system that allowed him to play well. Same for Kliff Kingsbury. Tebow is extremely talented, but plays in a scheme that actually limits what he can do as a passer. Tebow has only thrown 268 passes in 13 games this year. Colt McCoy has only played in 12 games and he has more completions than Tebow has attempts. Tebow can make every throw, he just isn't asked to because of the offensive scheme Florida runs.

He will take some developing in the pros, but I have no doubt he will make it as a QB. I've said before that Tebow reminds me so much of Jacksonville's David Garrard. Both are built like boulders with better than average mobility and both are smart QBs capable of being very efficient, but like Gerrard, Tebow is going to need to be drafted by a team that can sit him for a couple of years and let him develop. I love watching Florida football and their offense is fun to watch, but it has done Tebow no favors in terms of preparing him for the NFL.

Vince Young fits this better. Guy was thinking of committing suicide because he got booed for christ sake. As far as Tebow. I don't think he succeeds in the NFL. Offenses in the NFL aren't tailored to fit his game.

As a Florida grad I may be a little biased but Tebows stardom reminds me of another famous Fla player Chris Collingsworth. It doesn't really matter how successful a player Tebow will be in the pros since his stardom and legacy will make him a rich man no matter what. Look at Collingsworth. Very average pro but making a bundle as an announcer with limited skills in my opinion.

Laettner was not a great NBA player but he was able to stay in and log some decent minutes his entire 13 year career.

I agree, Vince would be a better comparison. Laettner wasn't physically gifted but obviously had the heart to end up with a respectable pro run.

This thread made Thomas Hill cry.

It also made Coach Kra-Shoe-ski realize that he may need another back surgery.

I agree.

There's no offense designed for a 245 pound qb to run over 270 pound linebackers?

Tebow is a great college player but I don't know if he'll be as successful in the NFL. Alex Smith played under the same offense in college and he hasn't panned out in the pros yet.

Tebow will take some time to develop into the kind of passer that NFL teams require. He has the talent, just not the experience throwing the ball. Not that many qb's that run a spread option offense have made it big in the pros, but that doesn't mean he won't.

That being said, if QB doesn't work out, he might make a helluva fullback.

The funny thing is that many people are talking like Tebow is the best thing to hit college football since Red Grange but honestly he may not even be the best college QB that Urban Meyer has coached. Take a look at the highlights of the 04 Fiesta Bowl. Alex Smith wasn't half bad in that offense!
