Carroll coach among Rice considerations

Carroll football coach Todd Dodge has been named among the possible candidates for the head coaching vacancy at Rice University.
Dodge’s name was on a list mentioned in today’s edition of the Houston Chronicle, but he said his focus is on the Dragons (13-0) and their Class 5A Division II Region I title game with Plano (13-0) on Saturday.
“I’m pretty tunnel-visioned with what I’ve got going on right now," Dodge said this afternoon.
Rice coach Ken Hatfield announced his resignation Wednesday, and the school has already begun a nationwide search for a replacement.
Dodge was caught off guard when told about his name being among the potential candidates, saying “that’s news to me” and that he has no information about it.
Dodge, an assistant coach at North Texas for two years, said he has been contacted in recent years about other college openings but evaluated them after the season was over.
“Right now I’m very occupied with the Carroll Dragons," he said.
