I tried drinking last nite. I ended up pouring my beer out. I need to get rid of this thing in time for the game tomorrow. If I feel better im going if not I gotta settle for the HP vs. Stephenville game Saturday. Or SLC vs. whoever Saturday.

#1 high dose oral vit c--at least 3-4 and maybe up to 7-10 grams 3 times a day. back off if you get gassy.
2. zinc lozeges
3.-if it is the flu, there's a remedy at health food stores called occilococcinum. have to stop coffee for it to work. don't ask.
4. lots of fluids and rest.
5. echinecea may also help, as will mucinex.

gl with that

Thanks. I just printed that out. Can I find most of this in WAL-MART? Or do I have to go to a CVS pharmacy?

do you know if there are any proven medical benefits of chicken soup? or even when I get really sick I have matzah ball soup? They always seem to work, but it may be more psychological

Plenty of fluids are very important. If you are dehydrated you are going to make it much harder on your body to fight back.

Listen to Dr. DD Scooter -- I've used Zycam as well - but that might screw up something DD recommended. I'm not 100% myself - but will suck it up for the team. I may have to take a knee in the 3rd qtr.

i don't know about any medicine... but i know my an old remedy, which is a hot minty drink wit old herbs and a strong shot of Jack, knock you clean out and you'll sweat the thing out in one night, guarenteed.... trust me, you'll have to wash ya sheets because you'll sweat like a run away slave... but you'll feel brand new the next day, of course a lil sluggish but, you won't feel any symptoms...
my 2 cents

I went to the DOC.

I have the first stage of a cold. Can't go tonite but I should be ready for the SLC game next week.

I feel like complete $*** right now I tell ya. :(

They gave me anti-biotics and de-congestion. (robi-tussin also)

Hopefully it helps.

I'd just tough it and go anyway. I felt bad at the Final Four in 2004, but I wasn't about to leave.

Why would they give you antibiotics for a cold?? Cold is viral, antibiotics have no effect!! You need another doctor;) or chicken soup:D

he's right. unfortunately we doctors often feel the need to treat even though it isn't in the patient's best interest. eat yogurt any time you take antibiotics and at least the gut flora problems won't be an issue.

FeeltheHaka

I like antibiotics in some flu cases, because the antibiotics take care of any secondary infections that result from a taxed immune system that is busy fighting the virus. A common secondary infection is the infection of the sinus drainage, which hampers a patients ability to rest; therefore slowing the healing process. I do not recommend yogurt while taking antibiotics, because the antibiotics will use its strength to fight the acidolphilus (probably mispelled,) instead of other infections. In my opinion, the yogurt is good after finishing a round of antibiotics. This is all opinion.
