No "we looked past them" or any other excuses. They got their butts beat by a much better team, period. This team simply wanted it much more than you.
Let this be a lesson to those fans who's ego's are bigger than their brains... there's always someone out there with a bigger stick than yours.
Congrats to Allen. THS? I guess its back to the drawing board.

did you guys run the 4-4-4 defense too;), best defense in football. I believe the aggies did that one year and it costed them the game.

I know what ur referring too... But the Oklahoma QB got the 4th and 1 anyways on the sneak... It didnt make a difference and the safety was like 15 yards behind the play........

I posted this on another thread. But this is for ya'll.
I'd like to thank the people of Trinity. What a season ya'll have had and what a streak! 27 straight games we could only dream of that! But ya'll stayed modest and respectful to everyone you've played. We were glad to pay our dues to the good people of Trinity. Thanks for the great game and atmosphere :notworthy:notworthy

I really respect the fact that some of you Trojan fans have the ability to put your pride aside and admit when you've been beat. I was afraid when I came home from the games tonight that I would see lots of excuses on these boards and I haven't. From what I have seen, it seems as though Trinity can win with class and lose with class, and I respect that.

Darn right no excuses. 3 things I noted before the Plano game came true tongiht against a much stronger defense than Plano's and a similar offense.
1st. Trinity's running game wasn't nearly as dominate as it had been the previous couple of years based on yards per carry in 08 and that showed toniight. No consistent running game what so ever.
2nd. Sophmores don't lead /carry teams to state titles. Never!!Ever!! Ever!!!
3rd. Playing in a weak district can hide many flaws. Once Trinty started playing the Plano & Allen of the worlds their defense was exposed and it just so happened that Allen was able to jump out in front instead of Plano today and Trinity doesn't play catch up very well.
Congrats to both teams

My two cents: Was it just me or did the Allen lines look bigger than our lines? #97 and #99 are listed as 6'4" and 6'1" but from where I was at they looked 6'6". The personal fouls were frustrating to me because I have no idea what happens in the pile, not questioning the refs but for example, a false start is easier to swallow than a personal foul because from the stands it's an obvious penalty. I would give Allen props but my problem is when I watch Trinity play I don't pay attention to the other team, I just watch our players intently. But I would assume that Allen played a better game and was the better team that day. Congrats, represent North Texas well.

You watched them well enough to know they are big. I guess you can't escape that though.
For the past few years, Allen has been very big, and nasty, in their lines. One of the few teams that can stand toe-to-toe w/ Trinity. Northshore comes to mind also. Allen's weakness in the past has been shaky LB play, and SLC in their bracket. Not this year though.
I think the prevent/southlake defense has finally been exposed. This defense has been painful to watch all year against spread teams. Finally a team didnt make the mistakes which that particular defense relies on in the red zone. Hopefully the coaches can finally come up with a better defense against the spread and the rushing 3 lineman can be put to bed for good. Its sickening to watch at times.

The last several years have been very good years for Trinity fans - we are in no position to be bitter. I am not happy Trinity lost the game, but I have no problem jumping on the Eagle bandwagon, if there's room. :)
Allen's job is not over; in fact, it is now going to get harder. But I hope the Eagles get a chance to play in the title game - what an experience!
And we are still proud of our Trinity Trojans!

You should be proud of them...they have played great football over the last few years and are absolutely not done!
Trinity came out in the second half last night and tried their darndest to win that game. They got back in it...but it was not quite enough. My point is that they fought till the very end and should be proud of themselves...they played their hearts out last night.
I want to thank all of the Trinity fans that are showing so much class on this board after this loss. The Eagle fans appreciate it!

Be careful with this one... Katy has a whole lot of sophomores starting or receiving significant playing time this year. Obviously they haven't won state yet, but they have a damn good shot at it.

I'm willing to bet Allen has the biggest line in the state. Not only are they big, but they don't seem to have much bodyfat for their size. They move very well.

As a Trinity Grad myself, i want to congratulate Allen and their fans. You guys had the better team yesterday. I knew when i saw what you did to Plano you were the team to beat. Too many weapons for Trinity to stop. Great gameplan, great job of spreading the ball around. Trinity's defense was down 3 starters and that hurt but then again Allen was down their starting QB.
You need depth and a little luck to win state titles and Allen has it. You guys are the favorites and i think i speak for most Trojan fans when i say we're behind you all the way - this is your time! Enjoy every moment of it and hail to the new king:notworthy

See http://www.5atexasfootball.com/forum/vB/showthread.php?t=42512 post #13 to the answer whether I was there or not. btw I have only missed 3 Allen games in 10 years when out of town for work.
Not sarcasm just the facts as Trinity was given 4 TO in the second half? I'll let Wylie folks tell you about it: There was 1 when Allen was about to score... 1 after the delay of game... and then 2 back to back at the end of the game.
Lineweaver was on the field trying to call time out before the last two when the Trojans were finally flagged for having 12 in the huddle for the 4th time. That is why I said almost 5, sure if they had gotten that one they would have not called another one. Just not sure how it slipped past the ref's?

Lineweaver appeared to be on the field calling time with the line/side judge before the referee through the flag (from what I saw). When I saw the player running off the field from the huddle, I looked down and saw Lineweaver walking onto the field towards the line judge, signalling time out. Lineweaver went to the ref after the flag and was told that it was a penalty. If you watched Lineweaver, he began waving his arms for his boys to get back on the field and the ref blew the whistle to start the play clock. The Eagles quickly moved back onto the field also. Evidently, Trinity was not charged a time out for that one, even though the scoreboard showed that a timeout had been taken.
I applaud your support of the Eagle team. All teams should have such faithful fans.
While I've only been watching the Trojan football team for the last four years, I do try to pay attention to the game. So, I wasn't surprised when the "fourth" timeout was called. (Prior to those years, I was freezing my butt off watching one of mine play soccer for THS. He was an '02 grad.)
On a side note, I'm not sure about the Wylie poster commenting about THS having 12 in the huddle four times. It would appear to be odd based on what I've seen most of the year. Trinity seldom has more than 9 in the huddle as the wide receivers normally come from the sideline, pass the play to McGhee, then run off to their position. Not to say that it couldn't have happened, just that it would be odd.
I'll say it again. Eagles outplayed the Trojans last night. Congrats to the Allen players for a job well done and a well-deserved win.

I have a question for Allen: Did Jeremiah Williams play the first time against us?
If yes, then how did we ever stop him the first time we played y'all?

Yes, the first time around he had 21 rushes for 92 yards and a touchdown. He's been pretty below the radar for most of the regular season and has really kicked it up a notch in the playoffs. He's actually been on varsity since his sophomore year and became the starter about midway through the 2006 season.

Thanks for the congats. I would agree with you on all of this and probably a good reason why most thought it was 4 TO including me? Anyway the Trojans have accomplished a lot and earned a lot of respect nation wide so nothing to be ashamed of. I'm sure they have lots of fans who have been very faithful and make every game every where they go. I'm sure they will return next year with a vengances. Enjoy those years with your kids involved as they go fast and its never easy when the season ends.
The Eagles still have to get the job done with two more games to go with focus on RR Stoney Point this coming week..

The Allen American had an interesting blurb about Jeremiah Williams the other week. Coach Westerberg had a one-on-one coaching session with him...showed him film from last year and this year, pointing out areas where he could improve. Since then, the guy has been pretty impressive.
